Well it would be an honor to have you We are hoping to get an online meet and greet in 2 hours!! we will be meeting in the Happy Rebel in Tir!! come join us!! Also after application is posted, please /cc addbuddy navabikhan to your friends list so he can get you added to org once your app has been reviewed.
Theres nothing better than playing with Onrpg.com regulars! I know theres a few of you following this thread and are on the fence about coming back to Anarchy!!
We had an amazing turnout for our first meeting yesterday and are hoping to have more meeting, prior to getting teams and running missions or instancing with the likes of you!!
This thread brought up some sweet gaming memories. AO was the game for me, my first mmo, my cherry popper that set the (high) standard as games go for me. Played it for about 3-4 years plus a couple on and off until everyone I knew was mostly out of the game. I do remember your org, I was in Arcane Circle with Flojojojo, Tibanna, Tonyknuckles, Athx, Reardogg and so many others, the names just keeping coming to my head along all the great times I had in that game, Server First merc kill! hehe
Last year I used one of Funcom's return for a few free days offers and after logging on in a player city that I didn't know I fumbled with the UI and controls a bit to get a half hang of it again but must say I was very very rusty. Running around Tir and Backyard 5 I admit I sobbed a bit as the fond memories came over me.
I hope your Vanilla venture brings you guys great fun in this great game. Though I'm tempted to join in, still have a froob account I think, I'm only reluctant because the people I explored Rubi-Ka with just aren't there anymore so something would always feel amiss for me. But who knows, sure would be interesting to see AO with that new engine

But who knows, sure would be interesting to see AO with that new engine Best of luck to you guys, Yurigatu / Yurigata on RK2
Yurigatu!!!! its good to see you truly!! its been such a long time since ive heard that name, and I am honored to have your post on this thread ^^. I as well had the same nostalgic, and some what emotional response when I logged back into Maitrader a couple years ago and walked around tir.. This time with my fr00b I walked through New Lands and had flashbacks of 50 - 6 people or so waiting around the mission terminals, gettting missions, forming teams, and heading off to explore the unknown
I would also implore you to take up arms with us as a fr00b! We will be doing the very thing that I think would interest you! Our goal is to retrace the steps we took as we made our way to 200! being a 100% fr00b only (only fr00b gear, no specilizations, and only fr00b game content), this is going to be a very challenging, but rewarding experience Being as though the next GFX engine will most-likely be released q3 - 4 of this year, this will give you a little head start to get your toon in a position to have access to 100 - 130 content before the patch is released
we have gotten ourselves a nice core of old school players that have come back to retrace their steps in the organization, and form a new sense of commoradorie.. the thing both Arcane Circle and Tribulations had back in the day and seems to be currently unobtainable in any current MMO and guild... Most of it now has been "I will join this game, and work for loot", the commoradorie is not there and its more of a business transaction rather than a social one We play en mass on specified days as a good deal of us are finishing University/grabbing masters. Thus, I dont think it would cut into your time should you already have little of it '
All in all, it would be an honor to have you with us, should you decide sometime that you would like to come back to memory lane and create a new "Arcane Circle", within "Tribulations"
To the OP,i played AO twice ,maybe 3x.It was ok for it's time, but it is big time outdated by now days standards.
If somebody,i mean a big developer would make a similar game with better technology,it could be a real good game no doubt. My bias opinion is only Square Enix or SOE or Microsoft funding a developer could make a new AO work properly.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
It is hard, isn't it? I mean to walk away from this game. I too have recently returned to Anarchy. My main is Conjuring of RK2, General of the Angels of the Night, or at least he was back in the day. Now he is still there and I suppose the Angel's are but he's not with them as I'd taken a rather long break from the game in hopes of finding something equally as fantastic and yet new to explore... I keep coming back to Anarchy because well frankly no other game even comes close. To me it's all about what you had discussed. To be specific it's the community and the complexity of the game.
You don't find a community like we ran with back in the day anymore. Not in any game. And the complexity of twinking and the like, well I've not found any MMO with the detail and complexity of Anarchy. I'm excited to see the new graphics engine release and believe if Funcom would relaunch ( advertise the game ) after it is in place they'd be pleasantly surprised by the need for more servers. Yet still to this day as I run through the game World something will catch my eye and I'll stop and just look. It is simply amazing to me some of the stunning visuals in this game concidering it's engine's age. But watch an Alien Mother Ship come overhead or even just a sunset and tell me it doesn't take your breath away.
When I had first started playing Anarchy it was litterally weeks before Shadowlands released. I don't really know much of Rubi-Ka as a result. Shadowlands was too big of a draw. I truly love it, but I don't love that all people there want to do is kill Hecklers so I generally spend my time alone doing quests and running around exploring. It's all fantastic fun! This last time, when I returned, it is on a Froob account so Shadowlands is not an option nor is my Level 207 ( I think ) MP. At least not for now anyway. I've created a Fixer on the Omni side of RK2 and have been enjoying running Missions to get him the necessities ( General Nano's, his Fixer Nano's, ect ) via rolling missions... Go go ClickSaver. Still our Superman after all these years! Hehe... It is rough starting out with nothing but it's been awesome good fun so far! Oh and I started the Fixer as Omni simply because I'd not really played Omni that much before and thought it would be fun to explore their side some. I am, as you will see if you look up Conjuring, and always have been Clan. Anarchy wasn't my first, EverQuest was. But Anarchy is the one I keep coming back too.
I'm not sure this game will ever die. Don't forget about Gridstream Productions as you play. The music source of Anarchy Online! Tarryk is a great guy and is STILL there after all these years. He truly loves the game as well, it seems, as so many of us do.
*runs through Borealis screaming "CI anyone? Please?"*
Ok I am in. I played this game for allmost a year when it released ( somehow I survived the launch ) . I am downloading it as we speak. Who do I contact for admission into your organisation?

Greetings!! you can fill out an app at www.tribulations.org!! we will get you in a position of comfort for your beginnings and ends
Organizational Status: Growing!! we now have around 25 people that have come together to do this. We are still growing and are looking for YOU to fill ranks Be a part of a long term project in which commoradorie is sacrosant!! Run with a project that gaurantees an enviornment that is productive, and in which gives you the oppurtunity to have a game while you wait for an MMO that is actually worth playing other than this The goal of our organization is to provide YOU with an enviornment in which to be a casual player, and yet have fun growing up (leveling) with others and be part of memorable raids that Anarchy Online is notorious for
I just joined up around 3 days ago or so, and man am I having some nostalgic fun! ^^ Walking through memory lane and playing again has been awesome so far. The guilds really friendly and all help one another out! We could use some more recruits though so that all time-zones have people playing ^^
Coming back and playing Fr00b really showed me how dumb-easy it is to play with SL AI and the likes... I think I have found my home again here.. and with the upcoming graphics update?! This game is going to get CPRED BIG TIME back to life and the best part is, its free and massively challenging!
The organization is coming along. In fact, its been hard for us to setup times to interview all the applicants! I believe we're into our 30's but this is only the beginning and we're looking to continue adding so that we can have an online presence across multiple times. Currently, evenings and weekends are popular.
Most of our toons are in their 30's but with the amount of new people joining the org I believe there will be opportunities for new recruits to team with guildies.
The sustaining principle here which most people who have played AO understand, is that nothing makes a game more fun than the people you play with. Especially in AO where teams are important to your progression through the game. This is a MMORPG mind you, not a single player solo fest. We encourage everyone to get into teams, get into vent, get to know each other, become friends, and have fun! It doesn't matter to us if the graphics are dated, or the GUI difficult to handle or anything because the important thing is the community which you're a part of. We're trying to establish the community that keeps people excited to play together. Old school AO'ers seem to know what is meant by this more than ever.
Just launched our Twitter and Facebook groups. You can follow us at twitter.com/tribulationsorg.
I'm down for this, what classes are needed?Playing the free version will be a learning experience for me because back when I played I had SL/AI and lots of the original content was skipped.I'd love to give it a go.

Greetings!!
Thank you for the response and interest in joining our little crusade we are currently about 40 members strong (but most are VERY casual) with about 15 or so that do log on daily. We look at this as a long term project and hope you would too! The original content is definitely something thats worth doing and is a shame to skip over, thus fr00bing it up is the best way to do it! When you get a chance, please apply to Tribulations via our webpage @ www.tribulations.org
A little bird told me the Gfx overhaul is expected between mid-summer/early fall.. get in on this NOW, and avoid the confusion of the mass immigration back into this amazing game
We feel that the way the game was back in its original state, when Rubi-ka was the world, and shadowlands did not exist, was the most fun that was had in any MMO.
This.
Shadowlands ruined the game.
Of course....this is coming from an old "god mode" GA4 fixer.
Ah....running BS missions....roller rats in chests....having to go down the lift three times to survive a boss fight....
....and shouting for two hours for a doc that would bail after the first three rooms.....ugh.
I completly agree with you. Shadowlands did totaly Ruin AO. I played AO form launch until 2005. I couldn't handle Shadowlands I hated it. It feelt like AO was trying to switch form Scifi to fantisy.
To date I've not found a game that had as much depth as AO had before Shadowlands. No game as of yet has keep my interest or drawl me into it like AO did.
I thought Age of Coana was going to be like AO sicne it was being made by Funcom. Big dissapointment there.
All goes well within Tribulations and our project is starting to truly flourish!! With that said, this is a friendly bump I know theres still a few of you on the fence come join us!!
I've been watching AO from the shadows waiting for the new engine but I do have a couple of free accounts. I won't pay for the game as it is now but free is different. Never really considered playing the F2P vanilla AO.
I'm so spoiled I don't know if I could play it without the expansions. The weapons, the gear, all the buffs but your project is interesting to me and honestly I would have preferred if they had never brought out the SL expansion.
Bah, I noticed now that your a clam. I can play neutral but never a clam - OMNI FTW!
I've got my account, 3 toons made, but... I'm waiting for the new graphics engine. Can't realy play as it looks now... I guess I'll wait patiently till then.
well we will be here for you when and if you decide to come back!! come on fencers!! come apply at www.tribulations.org!!
Tip: What matters in a game is not the graphics (unless the graphics are TRULY shart), but the community in which you game in. Should you be a part of a community that brings out the fun, commoradorie, mystery, and accomplishments of the game, then (and only then) will you truly enjoy the game. -Maitrader

I'll check out the website a little later today, this has me quite interested to say the least.
I loved AO before SL came out. One of the purest gaming experiences I have ever had to this day.

Damn, Vanilla AO. I'm almost tempted to fire up my old account...
I don't think SL utterly ruined the game, but I do feel a bit nostalgic bout Vanilla.
Still, definitely wish you good luck with that!
Well you can count me in, I'll hit your site later on tonight
