For those that are curious, I already did and am waiting for the box to arrive. Amazon told me it shipped yesterday and won't arrive until the 8th. Why it will take a week to ship from Kentucky to Florida is beyond me.
I will stay as far away from the game as possible. I was interested in it early on, but all the special offers for preording from different companies, and the adding of a cash shop just have put me off. I like trying to collect as much as possible in games, and I know there will be so many things I will not be able to get, so I will just avoid it and not have to deal with the feeling that I am missing out in some way. Just simple psychology to me.

I do not agree with the company's principals and do not have faith or trust in them. Game itself looks like it would be fun for a month or two, but not long term.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Like i said before, i might in a year around next Christmas. I will look for a deal to pick it up digitally for a few bucks to see if they have made it any better.
I doubt that i would ever sub to it past the 30 days however. I do not see how they can change the way the game functions, and i just do not see the combat ever being fun for a long term or sub game.
Was very apparent to me in beta that combat, though looking nice, got boring and repetitive very fast. Do not see how they can change that as it is how the game is built.
Until Cryptic changes their business practices (which they wont because there are enough people out there completely fine with getting ripped off) I will not be playing any game they produce.
Currently Playing: Fallen Earth Played and liked: TCOS, Vanguard, Guild Wars, DDO Played and didn't like: CO, MO, STO, DF, AoC, WAR, WoW, EQ2, EVE, most f2p Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, Secret World

Probably like most , will leave it a few months , pick it up cheap with hopefully more & more varied content added by then & take it from there . Most MMOs best bought 3-6 months ( at least ) after launch IMO

And why won't I buy it.. Because in my opinion it is missing much of the things I desire in a true MMORPG .. Where is the feeling of vast land and/or space? Where are the hobbies for when I'm not in the mood to kill kill kill.. such as fishing? Where are the real tradeskills, like making better phasers? Where crafting like cooking? Where is the "real" struggle between Klingon and Feds? (PvP instanced arena doesn't count) Where is the Vulcan, Klingon and Romulan PvE content.. and I mean more then a handful of quest here and there.. I'm talking HUNDREDS of quest for each..
I played the beta, and was turned off for the obvious reasons (smallish ship combat simulator with nothing to do but combat). I figure once the free trial comes around, I'll play it for the free period. Not planning to give any money to Cryptic again.
See, I put a lot of weight on reputation. I would buy any BioWare game, sight unseen. I loved City of Heroes, and so I subbed right away to CO. Now I have learned my lesson: Cryptic makes games that do not appeal to me.
Bit pointless asking people if they will buy it because on the whole those that will buy it have done so. Those that like it will be playing and hence wont be around to say they will buy it. Leaving on the whole only those that have bought it, played it and didn't like it. Hence your sample will be bias and the result will be a type 1 error (psychology term which I feel is valid given your sampling a population). Namely those that hate it saying no they wont buy it. Your sample is made up of STO haters!

I'm sure those that did buy it will answer yes just like I did. And no, this isn't a scientific poll and should be treated with a grain of salt. But it does make for interesting conversation as this is a website for MMORPG players and they are being asked if they will buy it.

So then you are a STO hater since you are on the forums reading this post.. Right? Because if you liked it, then you would be too busy enjoying the game than to visit message boards..
Still waiting for poll to be updated to if you are going to buy part of the game or all of it. How much is the full game after you buy the box and sub? Also... what is the sub fee for if you have to buy content? I doubt those instanced servers are cost heavy.
I have tried several MMOs since playing SWG and no new ones have anything near the depth of that game. Especially for crafting.
STO, and the new KOTOR, are basic games that have been given a half arse skin. STO looks like a WOW with Sci FI stuff, at best. Plays like a FPS console game. KOTOR looks like a 3p arcade game that has been given a fail SW skin.
MMOs are for long term play, period. Many companies are trying to treat it like a console game thinking that lasting a year is OK.
If this is the future of MMOs, then I'll go back to PnP for some real fun. Right now SWG as a game is my idea of a full fledged MMO. Something that has as much combat as crafting, player driven economy, large free roaming worlds, Player Housing, and PVP.
It is painfully obvious that companies cannot handle this type of effort anymore and are all about penetrating the console market and thrid party markets. MMOs are starting to feel like console games and be marketed like them cause they just want to capture as much short term market share as they can.
THIS IS NOT THE WOW MODEL SO DONT EXPECT TO BE ONE YOU RETARDED BUSINESS EXECUTIVES!
Anyway, after all the BS with SWG, I will continue to be very particular about what I consider a real MMO vs. a single player game with a MMO facade. My time and my money are too valuable to believe that anything any game developer says prior to or right after a launch is true or sincere. Wait a year and then you might know some of the truth.
I did and I can't play more then 2 hours per time. Sometime I log in and don't even play, I log off 10 minutes after. The game is not crap but really, it's obivous they only love money. I can't stand that, I have a feeling if I continue playing, at some point I WILL have to give them more money to enjoy their game. Plus I am canadian and they overcharge us without any reason but greed (they avoided ALL the threads about this).
I preordered it half a month before christmas without knowing about the game..

Not planning to pay a dime for the game as well. Instead I resubbed EVE and have more fun there (though gathering/mining for crafting is a pain in the ass)

I didn't like CoX that much. Too linear for me and not too much variation (and I'm no super-hero lover, must be an US/UK thing). I was glad I could try the OB and see how bad the game was, and thus I canceled the pre-order...
About reputation, I agree completely. I'd buy a Bioware game blind as well if I hear good things about it as well. I've played games by them since 1998 or so and I still play those oldies (YES, I mean Baldur's Gate). Not sure if I'll play their new SW game though, I'm no real SW fan. Though I'd buy any other MMORPG from Bioware blind as well.
An other I'm waiting for to release their MMORPG is Bethesda. Can't wait to see Eldar Scrolls in MMORPG. Would buy that unseen as well...
I was bored after 3 days of Beta. I will not pay for the game as is. If they make the game free to play right now...I'm not sure I'd go back and bother downloading it. It's just not that much fun. Certainly not worth 50 bucks and no way in hell would I pay 50 bucks and a subscription fee.
It's just not a well made game. At the current version its not even a game, it's a poorly made simulator.

Can barely be called a MMO (though many like me will not consider it a MMO), just as an excuse to be P2P and charge a monthly fee, while monetizing similarly as a F2P MMO (cash shop) AND has single-player DLCs (considering the same with CO will happen here).
It's like reducing my lunch, taking out variety to charge extra to put it back and expecting me to pay more. And not to mention it isn't cooked enough, they took it out of the oven too soon (OR failed hard on the scope as conceptually explained on Scott Jennings' article).
So, no thanks, until they show me a lunch better than the others to compensate the increased price (including the monthly fee).

Won't buy!
I have a "free" key (DE version) because of an error, and I won't even use it...
I played the beta. The game has problems and i am not having a lot of fun.
So i won't buy. May be in 3-6 months, i will take another look.
I'm such a sucker for polls.
Nope won't even consider buying this game.

You should change to poll to...
-I'll buy half the game and a monthly sub
-I'll buy the whole game in the cash shop after I paid my sub and box fee
-I'd get more enjoyment turning my cash into paper planes
Gotta say after reading all the positive and negative comments in this forum, I will not be buying this game.

I am surprised at the number not planning to buy the game - unless all those that are going to already had.
I know these boards are always full of "haters" but I'm struggling to find a good review here
