boycott gamestop

you know we pre-order in the hope that we wont have to wait to buy the game, that it ownt be sold out in stores.  But when i get a confirmation email from gamestop the day, it should be at my house.  The UPS (ups mind you, who are we dealing with here, cheapest shit possible) tracking number lists my package as arriving on thursday! THursday?? you have to be joking me, i'd have better luck not preordering at all and buying it form friggin walmart. im so pissed, i can't even describe it. we preorder from these people because we want the game before everyone else, and they ship it to my house with a fricking 3 day delivery time when i live like an hour from the metroplex hq.  seriously, screw you guys, game stop

    you payed for 3 day shipping.. you get what you apy for I guess... as for wal mart comment.. wal-mart wont have any copies till the 15th.. at least where I live... my parents are going to work in crystal river and buying it at a ebgames there... I live 40 mins from any copy of eq2.. but theres like 6 wal-marts within 5 miles of my house.. ::::24::

    i already boycott gamestop. i usually purchase my games from EB, but one day i was driving past gamestop and thought "hey, ill go check this out and see if it is any different from EB" so i go in look around at the games for a few minutes...go over to the desk to ask for some help on something...takes them 5 minutes before they realize im standing there. ok, i finally get some help (i notice they really dont have a lot of the games EB does) so i ask if i can preorder a game thats supposed to come out in a few days (this happened whenever nwn was coming out cant remember the date) neverwinter nights. i put my five dollars down and they say to come back on the day it releases and pick it up, so i come back that day...they dont have it. next day they dont have it...next day they STILL dont have it. i get fed up tell them i want my five bucks back, go over to EB and buy it, and never shop at gamestop ever again.

    I dont think that a few bad experiences at stores should make you boycott gamestop in general. The gamestop I go to is cool, and the employees are helpful as well. Not to be rude, but if you pay for ground shipping, thats what you get. Also, I donno about your area, but i usually recieve things a day or two before the estimated date says.

    Got the same problems with EB, I guess I just learned for the future that im just gonna go out and buy the game, because its faster.

    Well i live in Portugal. Unfortunaly EQ2 wont be sold here before december or something like that.. so only option was to preorder the game wich i did in Ubisoft. Looks like they have already shipped it to me... so probably 2 more days max till i can play.

    Anyway i think preordering or buying online should be used by players who cannt go and pick the game at stores. Unfortunaly.. theres no adv pre-ordering.

     My GameStop store got the DVD version in yesterday (late afternoon) so I was fine...but I planned on going over to CompUSA who had many copies, if GS missed the boat image

    Gamestop?!? LOL!! Of course boycott them, can't you tell by the ridiculous over pricing and the goofy "game club" they have. Gamestop has ripped me off enough to hate them. It figures UPS and GAMESTOP are in the same gripe, they both SUCK, I HATE UPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have done me so wrong in the past, I never choose them if there is another shipping option.

    Had a problem with gamestop yesterday also.  I paid for my copy in full under the assumption that there would be "no line" (that's how they advertise the paying in full for preorders, there's even a sign on the counter that mentions it) I cruise in and the guy at the door asks if I'm there for eq2 or halo 2.  I say EQ2 and tells me to get in line while the Halo 2 paid preorders can walk in, get their copy and walk out.  So I wait in line for 20 minutes with ALL the Halo 2 preorders that DIDN'T pay for their copy in full... only to be told that they CANNOT find my preorder tag.  I tell them that I had it preordered for months and just paid for it in full the day before (again, thinking I could just walk in and pick it up).  So they ask me to hold on a couple while they look through more stuff.. 5 minutes goes by, and they stop looking and tell me to wait for their manager who should be there "any minute".  20 more minutes go by.. and damn I was getting angry.  I had just gotten off of an early morning of work and damn this was agitating.  So finally they decide to give me the copy and just find the tag later... what a crock of shit.  They told me to blame corporate for the "no line" advertising on full paid preorders, which is a cop-out, cause they were the ones that told me about it, verbally.  It's not the first time gamestop has made my visit less than enoyable.. so I don't think I'll be buying from them anymore, not that they'd care.

    Anyways, I needed to vent :P

    PS  Enjoying EQ2, so it's all good now :P

    You can't really blame Every Gamestop or EB for a bad experience at the store.  You can blame the people that work there..  It might be ok to Boycott the Gamestop or Eb games that is in your area that you Know has bad employees..  Also, see if you can get a complaint filled out on the employee(s) that made your visit unenjoyable, maybe they will get fired and hire someone that could actually make you enjoy going there.  I ordered the CE version, unfortunately, and the place that I ordered from, Software Etc., has told me "It will be in tomorrow." ever since Sunday. I'm pretty heated about it, but I know that it isn't their fault..  I could go to the next town over to a different Software Etc. and probably get a better experience.

    To the post starter, you can go out to your local game store and buy it. Just decline the purchase when the UPS guy arrives. You'll only be charged for the shipping. Of course this wont work if you aren't home when he gets to your house.

    You're not the only one.  I can't name the computer store I work for, but the only copies of EQ2 we got on the first day was the CD-Rom edition (I so wanted the DVD one).

    We got the DVD edition today (1 day late) and according to our distributors the Collector's Edition won't be coming for another week.

    And besides, if you really wanted a game ASAP, you should of gone with EBgames.  I have friends that work at EBgames and this is a true fact, but a lot of the times, they pay more just to get every game they want before anyone else.  They are always on the top of the list of any game on the market.

    So if EBgames got all the copies first, that's probably why gamespot and other places did not.

    you're right thats why i'm blaming www.gamestop.com.  and i totally agree with the guy about UPS, in the last 2 years of my life, i have NEVER, and i am not exaggerating, recieved anything from UPS undamaged unless i payed for insurance.  which is ridiculous that i need pay extra for overly lengthy shipping just to recieve my package as it should be.  a co-worker of mine recently went through school via UPS's worker system, he loaded the trucks, he told me straight up, that unless they are insured they throw the crap around because management and corporate doesnt give a shit.

    I too have given up any hope on gamestop, I ordered my CE and I called in yesterday about my copy... here's the rough conversation...

    me: I preordered EQ2 CE blah blah blah do you have it?
    gamestop guy: Everquet II, yeah we have them.
    (only my "premonition" prevented me to rush there and come back empty handed)
    me: Collector's Edition? Sure?
    gamestop: Ah... let me check...
    1min later...
    gamestop: no sorry we don't have it.
    me: (frustrated) where is it?
    gamestop: it's er... *paper ruffling sound* it's in Mexico.
    me: WHAT THE HECK IS MY EQ2 DOING IN MEXICO!!! ::::27:: (ok not my precise words but it expresses my anger)
    gamestop: something with custom delays, we'll definitely have it before the end of the week though.
    me: oh psshhhh... thanks.

    so basically... really... *goes off depressed*
