My friend recently bought the game and I've been debating with myself as to whether or not I will buy it. I really want a good mmo to play and this seems like a good PvP game which is what I'm looking for. Any thoughts?

oh, and you should definitely play some darkfall. make sure you pick the same faction as your friend so you two can go kill stuff together. makes things a lot easier with a buddy

With Dark Age of Camelot essentially gone, if you want a good PvP MMO, Darkfall is the best choice at the moment. It's growing quite nicely.
I'm really enjoying my time. Although you can train up every skill, good luck as it will take a long time if you want to be a master of all.
I think it just depends on how fast you want to skill up. I've been playing for a month and have 100 skills in several categories, including Lesser Magic and Archery. It does take time but if you're dedicated you can skill up quickly. But at any rate, it's just fun enjoying the ride, the game is awesome.

Lets put it this way, I was in your shoes two days ago. I finally after watching and watching videos, got myself to get the game and the 6 month sub because its so cheap right now (30% off). I HIGHLY recommend this game, since UO and DaoC, no MMO has compared to anything like this. I am enjoying it alot and here is a review that just might help you decide as well.
This game is worth it and I plan on playing a long time, the paranoia, the ability to just have so many choices and then when you set a goal, actually completing it while not being ganked. It's a very immersive game and one that may have not started out great, it is now and is only going to get better.
If you are on the border of subbing to this game, do yourself a favor and click that button because it is a decision you will be glad you made. Understand that this game is addicting it will take time out of your life to play. You will die and you will kill - You have been warned.

I'm on the forums and we're about to go raid Burning Glory; the sea fortress. I may not be the most effective pvper, but I can help in other ways. We actually killed the Kraken last night and I was a ship repairer. So, I'm just enjoying the ride and not worrying about grinding hardcore. It's fun and I take time to do PvE, or get regents, or PvP. I never feel like I'm not progressing when I'm not PvEing or what not since all activities raise your skills and stats.
