Well I just find it so great this is getting me sick. My new videocard is running the game everygraphics to max (even far distance) AA, Anisotropic, the game is just so damn NICE AND SMOOTH. Plus I am finnally playing the game with friends over ventrilo. Also I like quests, skills, and all the little nice feature like linking items names into the chat, WOW MAN. Its so much fun I have no words to describe it. I am at school right now and feel totally like crap not being able to play it, aaaaaaaaaarg.
For me it's very confusing. This is my first time playing!
I played pretty much all races and classes! Rogue, Hunter, Warrior and Warlock til lvl 5-6 and the others lower!
My first major grip was to find a character I liked. I had planned to make a Human Paladin, but I thought that their heads was so ugly that I just couldnt be human male... It was awful! The textures was all wrong!
For me WoW does allot of things better than any MMORPG ever!
Two of them, being Control and Combat! The controls is so great and just so... So easy to get a hang off! Its a joy to just jump with your character.. Its like a platform action game where you can move fast, cool and easy.. Unlike games like SWG which are much more down to earth with not very convincing psyhics or controls, WoW is just a joy.
In combat its great too! A great mix of different things! Weapons look awsome! Its just great to use axes, maces, swords, polearms, daggers, dual wield and more.. And when using a melee weapon you can move while attacking! Allot of MMOs have problems with displaying their melee animations while going against Kiters! Not WoW! Reminds me of playing Jedi Outcast online! Fast, fun, exciting and just great too look at!!
I also enjoy the world and the art style. The Dwarfs are great even though I dont like them! Night Elfs too.. Its just a totally different take on Elfs with does giant ears and glowy eyes! The world was great! I really loved the Troll Starting place and Koz Modan and the hole snowy region! Stormwind was great too! had some great music!
I also enjoyed the crafting system allot! While not very complex I thought it was very entertaining and rewarding! Easy to use and a great source of income
Unfortunate I have to say that the Community on the server om playing on(Test 34) is probably the worst I have ever seen in an MMO! People wouldnt group, help or talk! Not even some stupid beta tester calling new people for noobs! I experienced extremely unhelpful people while trying to figure out, how I could sell my loot to the NPCs!
ever so often I would see a female NE/human dancing naked in the middle of a city, but people seemed to prefere going solo!
Quests - by far the best quest system ever to hail an online game! also better than allot of single player games like morrowind! With that being said I already felt tired of them after 10 quests in a row and stopped to read them! though this is probably just me being lazy.. quests are amazing in wow!
I didnt tried PvP... I didnt got a single talent point... I didnt got a mount or entered a single instances, but somehow I just dont think that WoW is so cracked up to be, as people have hailed it too!
I know its unfair and stupid to jump to conclusions based on 10-20 hours of gameplay over lots of different characters, realms and servers, but..
I dont know!
I like my little gnome Rogue, but I dont think that the game is very serious. lots of funny humor though!
Its like a disney movie but I rather expected some kind of epic like lord of the rings or something like that!
Maybe it was just me having the wrong expectations.
I would highly recommend WoW to anyone, but personal at this point in time I cant say I have enjoyed myself very much. It might have something to do with myself being more of a MMO gamer that likes the social aspect over combat and stuff!
(Congratulations Pingo on 23 exclamation points in ONE post. That was "fun" to read. man we're different people..)
Not my kind of game. I've played OB for about 10 hours total so far. I don't find it as fun as people have been spamming about. I know I haven't played enough to make a full opinion, but by the looks of things, I'm not going to be impressed.
(At least I gave it a shot instead of making assumptions) But EQ2 is my precious. I'll keep playing WoW just to see if it holds my interest.
First impressions of me:
Animation, graphics, and atmosphere: D+ (Dont get me wrong, I'm just not attracted to it)
Gameplay: B+ (Nice)
Lasting Appeal: F (IMO, not the typical MMORPG I could play for more than 3 months, I know the type.)
I'm a level 9 gnome rogue and I can't wait to get back home and bring him to level 10 for duel wield. I now have 22 sticks of dynamite that I made. I think the professions are a great addition to the game. I tried grouping with my rogue, and I was slightly dissapointed. By the time I go in for an attack, he has little health left already. I thouhgt I'd be doing more damage. When I get home (the wait is killin' me), I'll get the duel wield and then start a hunter. There are lots of them around and they are doing a lot of damage. No college tomorrow, so that means I won't be going to bed until ~7 P.M. THursday. This will give a chance to try all different races. I think I'll be sticking with a rogue though. I can't wait for PvP to test Feyn's skills out. But I must say, as Lineage ][ being my last MMORPG, this game is incredible. More addicting than Diablo II if you can imagine that.
Anyone here on Eastern Test server 23? If so, give Feyn a whisper. He's not shy.

I have just started playing the WoW OB yesterday for maybe 5 or 6 hours. I have played a few more hours today. I have to say I think WoW is great. I like WoW so much I have put my EQ2 (I pre-ordered but won't get until today sometime) on EBAY. I loved EQ and EQOA(PS2) and figured EQ2 was a safe buy. I played the EQ2 beta for over 1 1/2 months and I just didn't care for it that much. I will give the WoW OB a little longer and if I still like it in a week I will pre-order WoW. Everybody has different taste in MMORPG's and WoW seems to be mine.
I like WoW. It is my favorite MMORPG I've ever played... even though it is only OB. I cannot wait for it to go retail. I will be one of those people who buy 6 months of time in advance.
Graphics: My kind of game!
Gameplay: Excellent even for someone who's never played a MMORPG before. Questing is fun, but not too easy. Crafting is involved enough to keep one's interest. Combat is a breeze, nothing to complain about.
Community: Unknown at this time. Alot of people will play the OB who will not buy the game. As for the OB Community, it is okay. Alot of spam.
I absolutely hated my experience while playing horde , it was just a mix of the enviroment and races for some reason that really did not let me enjoy the game for some reason...i played a tauren shaman and was starting to get bored as hell but then i decided to try out a gnome warrior and im LOVIN it!!
the game is very unoriginal but its still good nonetheless and im sure PvP will be really fun.
Spent two months in EQ II wondering when the fun would start, and when they would stop showing me what I can not do, and give one example what I CAN do. I got the answer. Two hours after installing WoW beta, the fun started... Same with my girlfriend. No interest in EQ II at all. She looked at a gnome in WoW and.. I did not get the computer back for several hours.

"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force"
I have played in the first ST and now in the ST/OB since it started. My friends and I are having a great time. I have never paid for a game any other way but month to month, but I see my self locking into WoW, when it goes live, into one of their long time package deals.
well im deffinatly enjoying myself, although i'll admit... not as much as i thought i would...
it is without a doubt an good game though
i havnt really powereleveled any partically race/class yet as i've just been too busy getting like 6+ different ones upto level 7-10 lol...
my favorite part thus far has to be the questing... i honestly have never really been much a fan of questing but WoW does it quite well...
there are a few things that are bothering me though...
the graphics... i know i know, i always hear "it's all just personal taste"... well MY personal taste thinks the graphics arent that great... having played both EQ2 and WoW beta, i can now safely say the people who thought WoW was better, either A. Never played EQ2, B. Never played WoW, or C. Are too much of a WoW fanboy to realise it...
now keep in mind, im not really saying they're BAD, just that i would have liked to see better from such a big name game maker... i've already heard all the "but it's keeping with the warcraft style" so dont give me that... it's the year 2004 (almost 2005) and we expect a bit more from our graphics these days... i'd give the graphics a 6/10
another thing that's bothering me is combat... i just think they could have done a bit better with combat here... i'd give combat 7/10
another thing is character development... now i understand there are "talents" to slightly differ each player from the next, but IMO it isnt quite enough... as a level 53 Warrior, you'll still be more or less exactly like every other level 53 warrior out there (not taking equipment into account)...
ANYWAYS... even past those few bumps, i still have to say WoW is a great game so far and i personally plan on purchasing it on release ...
oh... and from what i've seen so far, i'd give it an 8/10
-------------------------------- Games Played - Too many to list~ Games Currently Playing - City of Heroes Favorite Game So Far - Lineage 1 ^^ Waiting For - EQ2 and WoW (OB is gonna be hell T_T l33t d3wdz everwhere >_<;;)
The game is better after about lvl 15 because thats when ur class really gets definition. Plus that is also when u start doing instances. All in all, i have to say i really like the game, mostly for the atmosphere that the game creates.
I didn't get in, so I decided to try out EQ2 until WoW comes out. I must say, EQ2 isn't bad at all. I will still play WoW though, bescause it's a fun game and all my friends will be playing WoW.
I love WoW so far. I also did the final stress for EQII and liked a lot about it, but the game just feels like a chore and grind to me. I've found WoW just more fun and I love the environment in WoW more than EQII.
EQII has a better crafting system and instanced housing and I would also wager that the world itself is bigger. It has tons of quests, an overwhelming amount, really, but none as memorable as the best quests in WoW.
WoW does have a different graphic style than EQII, but EQII isn't as realistic as it first appeared either. I would say the environment in EQII is less detailed than SWG, while I was expecting the game to be the next step towards better realism.
Graphics settings, in game and your vid card settings, can make a big difference in both games. I could get EQII looking better with tweaking, but performance really suffered. I don't have WoW at max settings either, but just a little tweaking made the game look a lot better, for me even better than playable settings in EQII.
I have an Athlon XP 3200+ 1GB ram and an Radeon 9600XT. Just setting Anio to 4X and AA to 2X, with temporal anti-aliasing checked, made WoW look much better on my machine.
I think this is true of both games, but a major point I'd make on WOW: Finding the race/class combination that best suits you is key for maxiomum enjoyment of the game. I have tested a number of them, between the original Stress Test and the current beta and my enjoyment level varies drastically based on what I'm playing. Take the time to try out different combos before settling in on a main character or deciding the game "sucks".
A caveat on class selection, it seems to me that Warriors and Paladins were gimped recently, (at least at the lower levels). I enjoyed both classes in the first Stress, but have found them underpowered this go around. The other professions seem to play about the same as before as far as overall effectiveness. Hopefully this will get addressed before retail.
So far the game rocks me like no other. Gameplay is smoothe , really no lag (my computer is far from top of the line). The scenery is awesome, So many things to do, And its fun to bash things with a huge hammer likes its my job.
For you guys saying that the graphics aren't as impressive as you hoped, try doing an instance! The graphics in instances are very very well done, espescially the bosses omg.
Fun...I have two level 5+ horde characters on Test Server 28. I am looking for someone who has the charter for the MMORPG.com guild, but I can't find anyone. Have any ideas where Rathma is?
I have to respond to a couple people that posted about WoW graphic's not being that good. I'm not sure what game you guys are playing but I was exploring this afternoon and some of the areas (cities & forest) were just great. I have played the EQ2 beta and their graphic's are also really good but I really prefer the WoW graphic by far. I do have a high end computer and have my setting max on WoW and pretty high foir EQ2. I do realize the EQ2 graphic's are pretty amazing in some area's and once newer and more powerful graphic's card come out will be even better. WoW graphic's are fantastic IMHO. When exploring this afternoon I had to just stop a few times and look around because of the graphic's were so good.
Wait untill you come in higher lvl areas it looks great.
So many wonderfull mobs so many different ones not like lot of mmorpg where you start with like say a cow at lvl1 and when you reach lvl50 cow is buffed up but still same mob yes in wow 2 but there are so many different mobs in all areas that you dont notice that some mobs are higher lvls that you fighted when you where low lvl.
And instance get better and better and the music the sound like in un garo crator its realy great to hunt there:)
Not original? That's odd, it's based on Warcraft right? I mean, I've never seen another MMORPG based on that...
as for GAMEPLAY elements? EQ2 is original? nah, its a DAoC/WoW/EQ clone, same as:
AO, AC, AC2, EQ, DAoC, CoH, etc etc all the gameplay mechanics in all MMORPGs are rip offs of eachother... I mean saying that WoW is unoriginal is like saying that all mmorpgs are unoriginal.
I'm not really feeling the fact that kids are calling this game revolutionary though, but fack eet, I'm having fun...
