So I have a mmorpg game i been working on for the past couple of years, have only been working on concept and new ways for combat/ replacing the oldschool way of leveling/ different item system/ sadly cant figure out an effective way to get past the same old go kill 10 bugs quest. I just see alot of games that have the same generic traits and simiularities. I feel that the game style has become narrow and most games are just focusing on pvp for the post part and all the pve is just the means to get from level 1 to cap. I want some difference in a game when i play, so with that in mind i took a different view on how a game could be played and managed. I mean i have this little project and since i dont want to spend the next 30 years making this game on my own, I was curious if gaming companies bought ideas or are they all to large to care.

My advice? Get hired in a gaming company, preferably one that does MMOs. Wait for the opportunity to pitch in your ideas and make sure you are in a lead position, so as to keep some control.
Alternatively, labour for a few years, until you are recognised and given the reins of your own project where you cn toy with your ideas.
ya was thinking about going into that field, find a small but large enough group to work for and push my way up to have some say but was just curious, thanks for the help.

It has nothing to do with large or small. People that can make games, programmers and model makers, also have ideas.
It's just a myth that there are these programmers that know how to make games but they just have zero imagination and are waiting for someone to show them what they should program.
It's like, someone has the talent of Picasso or Rembrandt to paint a picture, but they just have no idea what to paint and are hoping someone will tell them what they should paint.
No, if they have the ability to make games, they all have ideas about what sort of games they want to make.
That's why they wont' pay for your idea, because they will want to make their own ideas into games.
You could post all your ideas in detail right here, and no one would care or even bother to steal them because they are busy working on their own ideas, AND they know how to make them into games.
http://mmorpgmaker.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9016haha i was never saying that programmers dont have ideas, i am working on my degree and i can program as well but i do feel like most games are just a repeat of other games. I doubt I can walk into a company and become a game developer but i was unsure if people did pitch ideas to companies. I mean if it attracted the attention of publisher. Why not i figured btw, i have finished games, some copies of oldschool classics and some that are different takes on a genre, but please dont talk down to me or treat me like a kid. Whether you ment to or not, you were very condescending but to each there own.

That DOES happen, but instead of your standard pitch, you need a Demo. You make just one or two zones of the game, for example, and show that off. Then you get the funds to make the whole thing if they like it.
