I have never played a better MMO.

STO is the best MMO I have ever played. There are more people online and playing then I have ever seen in WoW. I know it is still close to launch but still a way better population then WoW. The auto group feature is awsome. I love zoning into a mission instance and auto joining up with one or two people that have the same mssion.  Would like to see more ground missions that take advantage of the auto group feature. And just for all who dont like the idea of auto grp you can turn that feature off. I have never played another MMO that I was instantly hooked on. I am not even that much of a Star Trek fan.  The only thing I dont like about STO is the horrible graphics that they use.  The textures look like an old SNES and Sega Genisis game called clay fighters.  Nothing but horrible bump maps. The only other MMO that I would ever consider leaving STO for would be SGW and even then I would just playboth considering I have a lifetime sub to STO:) Yeah I even payed for the $300 lifetime:) Anyway this game is awsome and will only get even better with updates and expansions.

My first guess was it'd be your first MMO as well, but now that you have made the comparisation with WoW, you're right. STo is indeed better than WoW, imo,  but that's about the only MMO it can beat in gameplay :D

Cool that you love the game that much.

I think this game suits people more who are not in to Star trek anyway.

They  just get dissapointed , like me:)

I played beta a litle but will not buy this yet  as i really dont like the company, they always release mmo without content.

Im happy to find someone that has found an MMO that meets their expectations, im pinning my last hope on warhammer 40k online. As for STO its a nice light break in the fantasy dominated MMO market. Im enjoying it for what it is a casual space hack and slash :P

Glad to hear you found a game you enjoy so much!

After all, that's all any of us are really looking for with this genre.

I too have been having a blast playing STO. A very good game I think too, though some people don't seem to get it.

Well thats good to hear, welcome to the group.

I have to say last night was pretty special, those invading borg were amazing. Though at first we engaged some borg ships and they were very easy, I was slightly disapointed... then came the actual attack force of borg cubes, and oh my god. It looked like an amped up version of the battle at the beginning of 'first contact'. Alot of federation ships, and quite a few more cubes. Even had the pleasure of engaging a tactical cube....I said engage, not defeat...>.> So with that outcome in mind, I've got a new purpose in life..

We are the borg. Resistance is futile. (If you can't beat them...)

How many ships does it take to bring down one cube? I'm hoping they make the Borg Cubes as scary a sight as they used to be.

I agree with the OP, this is the best MMO I have ever played as well, and I love Star trek as well. The game is a blast, the combat ,.. Fun I enjoy every minute of the game. I have played every MMO out to date and this is ONE of those MMO's that stands out.

I am glad that you , OP, are enjoying this game like so many others in the game as well, and to comment on people who are disappointed with the game, I can understand as well, there are afew things I wish to see in later patches that will satisfie our tastes, but personaly, having a amazing time with this title!

But hey, glad you found something you like, eh? Just wish there was a game that would suck me in like in the old days.

Totaly agree,  when i first heard there was going to be a Star Trek mmo, i couldnt wait... so yes, very dissapointed, worse still, the chances of any other company now releasing a decent Star Trek mmo is virtually zero.... epic fail imo...

Glad to see you're enjoying it. The storyline for the game is very much in line with the IP, so if  you're a trek fan the game is a nice treat because there are so many references to the episodes of all the shows.

I have actually played many better MMOs myself. Crafting, variety, content, group content, purpose and so on in this game are very shallow or unexisting.

Glad you like it though, report back in a month or so.

I am genuinel happy you are enjoing it.

The point is not if the game is fun now, but for how long will people play it?

    My guess is not long.

As I have said before this nothing more then a very shallow version of starfeet command.

It is no more then a single player game that has a multiplayer component much like command and conquror or diablo or war craft 3.

Proving that there's always someone, somewhere out there that likes a particular game, even the ones that get shut down.

But I don't care how much someone likes it, there's no way to say STO is the best MMO ever, you just can't.

    Its faults are legion.

I was able to solo tactical cubes at as low as Lt. Commander (level 11), of course there are higher level Borg as well.
