I've had this idea for a static group for a while now.
I would like to get a group of 5 people together who could make characters and play them together regularly on a schedule.
We would decide when we can all play. We would work out what classes we prefer. We decide on a faction.
We create the characters and we play them only together.
Some simple rules:
We help each other like a family. We choose complimentary professions and skill them up with the help of the group.
We would fund each other, craft for each other, level each other, and quest/instance each other up to 80.
We would see all the content for our faction that one full party (5 man) could experience.
We would rely only on each other for everything.
We quest only together. No pugs.
If we're playing we're playing together on these toons. If you wish to play at times other than the group play another character.
That's it pretty much, keeping it simple.
Does anyone have any interest in this? My wife and I will most likely play so I am looking for at least 3 other people.
We will need to match up our schedules.
I am Central Standard Time and am free after 6:30pm most evenings. Playing until 11pm is really not a problem so we have enough time for all the dungeons and quests.
After I find some interest we can start a chat on times, days, how often, etc.
I am looking to work out all the details first, in no rush. I prefer quality to quickness.
I'd rather this take a few weeks to get started than start tomorrow with a group that falls apart.
Here's a link to a group that helped me decide to do this:

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I feel I have to tell you that this is next to impossible to pull off for more than a few levels. I know because I've tried to do it on several occasions and I've tried to help others try to do it and they have all failed miserably. The problem is that it's nearly impossible to get 5 people on the same schedule, even if they agree to it. I know you're probably thinking that they don't have to have the same schedule just only play these 5 toons together when they are all playing at the same time, but the reality is that it's not easy to do that. Someone always wants to move at a faster pace than the others or someone is always holding things up or someone doesn't want to do what the other 4 players want to do,etc etc and everyone gets frustrated and they end up going their seperate ways. It's not simply a problem of play schedules it's also a problem of play styles. What's great about WoW is that everyone can play at their own pace because you don't have to have a group all the time. Trying to enforce a group all the time even if all the members agree to it just doesn't work very often. It's not impossible, but it's rare and happens more by accident than by choice. I wish you luck.
It's okay. I understand your opinion. Many people give up quickly on things these days.
I have succeeded with static groups in other games and enjoyed it emensely. I have 2 of the 5 and possibly 4 of the 5 already planned out. We have all played pnp together and I know we get along. If those 2 extra cannot make the game or do not wish to then I still have my wife and I.
I am willing to wait until I find 3 other people that enjoy playing as we do. So it's really just a matter of time.
Check out that link I posted. That's a group that has succeeded already and from the sound of it had a BLAST doing it.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

That's cool, I just wanted you to realize that this won't be easy. If you can pull it off, more power to ya.
I have some friends that did this in DDO for many months and they all had fun. Unfortunately attrition and work hour changes forced their group to fall apart recently. It sounds like they had fun while it lasted though. They would play 1 night out of the week together and they ended up getting to around level 16 I believe.
so...
16 is really good in DDO.
I have a static group in DDO right now that is a lot of fun. Great group of folks we do the same, basically play 1 night a week.
I know this could work in WoW. Just takes a little organization and folks with the desire to see it all with a group of friends.
I have 3 people at the moment with possible 4th. I will still entertain as many as would like to give us a shot.
If I get more than 5 that are interested then we can form more than 1 static group. Easy solution.

I have to agree with Pappy13
I've tried this my self, but even better with REAL LIFE FRIENDS ( about 10 of us ). It worked up to around level 20, only to log in the next day to find some were 5 levels ahead. Then jealously set in, and some were calling others dictators, and who are you to tell us when to be on. People did not like the stress of being on at a pre determined time, yet would log on at 2 am and out level each other.
I'm sorry you've had bad experiences. I've never had a bad experience with a static group. It's always been really fun. Most of my groups were older people, however.
I'm thinking maybe your group was a lot younger group of people...I could be wrong.
I intend on talking to the folks that want to join first. If they have any thoughts about us moving too slow or do not like the ideas of working together for everything then this group is not for them.
It's easy to stop that sort of thing if you put it out there at the start and don't mind telling people no when you know they are not a good fit.
I am not only asking on mmorpg.com
I knew there would be HUGE amounts of negativity from here, it's the only thing mmorpg.com has a lot of, but if any of your are reading this thinking that sounds like fun send me a private message or post in this thread. I am checking it, I'm just not giving much thought to the naysayers.
Thanks!
