"Dear community,

As you know we have been working on fixing the lag we have been experiencing during the latest open beta phase. We've successfully pinpointed the main reasons for his and are currently solving them as fast as we can.

We have also had some problems with our patcher, both in the terms of a huge amount of new players trying to connect to the game, and that we had too few servers hosting the data. We have now updated this and it should work a lot better now. As already announced the (by now) outdated client on the Mortal Online DVDs will now properly update itself.

We will have a small patch on Monday 15th of February, containing a combat overhaul which will improve the overall feeling and flow of the combat. This includes updated hit boxes, real weapon arcs (to hit your target more accurately not relying on where your “crosshair” is but where the actual blade is), some bug fixes and some small features. We are looking forward to hearing your response on these important changes.

On 22th of February we will release a huge content patch including even more combat changes, changes to the magic system, new weapons, obviously new content as in new areas, pickables/resources, npcs and mobs, new player buildings and some other stuff you may find very interesting.

We are looking forward to release these patches as they affect the core of the combat in the game and we think the result is very good so far. This is of course something we will continuously improve and polish since it’s an important factor of the game. "

Yup, here comes the miracle patch.

All I have to say is that I hope you prove me wrong as hell about this game- I dont think so but at least there is some much needed communication now and a projected date to have things running.

I have heard about these Miracle Patches before and they never seem to be the "miracle" needed- But, in light of a date for fixes, a fixed patcher and some communication- I will refrain from bashing this game anymore until the 22nd- If its fixed on the 22nd, I will appologize like hell on the Official Forum and you guys can flame the hell out of me- I still wont sub (didnt like the game I saw) but I will eat my words.

-Till the 22nd then.... And if this doesnt work. I transform into SUPERTROLL.

    Henrik again:

Oh the "we think the result is very good so far" was as in what we got locally so far in the test, not what you are testing at the moment. What we have on the live server today is nothing we are happy with, hence this patch. So give your feedback after that patch and see if you agree with us that "the result so far is very good".

    Sorry if that was confusing.

you are the only one to say that, setting high expectations are we? You should know by now that miracle patches do not exist in MMOs........well SWG had a miracle patch, not very positive miracle though  :)

You know things are pretty bad when the CEO comes out to do damage control.

Its kinda late to start redoing some core mechanics like combat and magic.. Those should have been taken care of in late stages of alpha / early closed beta testing.

Here is what I got out of it..

    1. Hit boxes changed = larger hit boxes.

    2. Please dont leave , please dont leave , please dont leave..

    3. Weapon Arc increased = bigger reach for weapons.

    4. Please dont leave , please dont leave , please dont leave.

    Ect. Ect.

I remember well when the Funcom people were promising a miracle patch also for the Anarchy launch, there was definitely no miracle.

At least they are giving a bit of communication... I think the miracle patch will fail but time will tell.

Just glad they finally are doing some damage control (even if too little too late) its something.

  • HanoverZHanoverZ Member Posts: 1,239

Talks cheap... Been hearing they've nailed down the lag for almost 2 weeks.

    I'll wait for results.

    I win!!! LOL@U

Up to now they seemed to of been adding content slowly and fixing bugs as they add the content.  This kind of seems like a hail mary pass.  They are just gonna drop everything in and hope they can fix it in a week before launch.

Another uninformed one. SV have been releasing patches every 2 weeks (every week at first), these patches change everything, combat has been changed a lot since July. It is just that SV do not have many employees so they have to focus on things one at a time. They might release another combat patch in a few months once they fix up/add some other stuff.

weapon arc means, if you swing the blade it will hit anyone in its path before hitting what ever you aimed at. RIGHT NOW, you only hit what ever your cross hair is aimed at ONLY. It is a very anticipated mechanic...

  • LiquidWolfLiquidWolf Member CommonPosts: 516

Yep, i'm hoping the weapon arc changes will make a cleave... a cleave!

Everything within this weapon's path is hit.

actually TCOS had quite a "miracle patch" in beta short before the supposed release they had heavy rubber banding.....all gone in 1 patch - saying supposed since. IIRC it didnt release till half a year later.

still think its sad this game didnt float proper....think it were a mistake they letted so many of their fans do what paid beta testers should be doing...really all a more or less open beta does is burn ppl out on the game.

oh well bit of a derail.....yep hope they make enough to satisfy the HC fans, to make their boat float the next 3 years till it could actually be an ok MMO - they work hard on their game, just doubt enough ppl will pay to fond the development of a game, without getting any money in return, when they game is finished.

Obviously you guys don't "get it".

Core mechanics changes are not supposed to be taking place this close to supposed release in an OPEN BETA.  This is essentially a server load test phase of a games life.  Changing core mechanics are supposed to take place in early closed beta, or late alpha but what do I know I've only beta'd dozens of games.

I realize you guys want this game to succeed and I do too, but there comes a time as a fan when we have to take off the rose colored glasses and accept things as they are, not how we hope they'll be.  There's nothing wrong with hoping the game turns out ok, but to deny that there are serious concerns is being disingenuous.

No.. this is the promised miracle patch that we have been hearing about for weeks.   With one mighty swoop thay shall change the combat system, change the magic system, remove the lag, change the skill system, fix the database, fix the AI,put in real guards in town, get rid of invisible walls blocking where you can't go, add the mini-games for harvesting, triple the PvE content, fix the patcher, fix the installer and solve global warming.

    I can't wait!

Edit to add: Oh yeah.. it will fix all the nowgame.exe issues too!
