Yes you do....but most any MMO worth playing takes time and effort. If the OP got tired of Wow (like I did) then Darkfall is a good place to call home if you're a serious pvp gamer. If you're a casual gamer and want the game handed to you...then I would find a different game.
... add in the fact that you do have to max out skills etc, to make a difference in game - an accusation levelled at Eve a lot, but is really more applicable to Darkfall, and you get a game thats probably even more new player unfriendly than Eve is
I played Eve for 2 years and it's WAY more user unfriendly than DFO and also harder to get into - not to mention that you're stuck in a ship all the time with no ground combat or avatar.
and thats before you even get onto the subject of how often the game is hacked!
Yes...this is a current problem that should be alot less of a problem after the next patch...the devs are working hard on this and are also VERY strict regarding hacks of any kinds. If you're found hacking - you are PERMANENTLY banned from DFO..no second chances.
Also..a comment on DFO PVE - the mob UI is the best I've ever encountered - they move and react to what you do. If you're at range fighting and then come at them melee - they switch to melee to fight you. And...they seem to anticipate your every move which can make them every bit as challenging as fighting another player.

The problem with your statement is that you're assuming he's looking for a permanent replacement MMO and he clearly stated that this will be a filler MMO until TOR comes out. Why devote so much time and energy into something that clearly isn't going to be continued?

Also your opinion that any MMO worth playing takes time and effort is true, but any smart MMO worth playing would factor moderation into that formula. Devoting unhealthy chunks of time to MMOs is a thing of the past for most people as most people have a lot more choices to find something that fits their lifestyle rather than the other way around.

A player with time restraints (casual gamers) does not =/= a player that is unskilled or looking for handouts. This type of backwards thinking will only lead to more misunderstandings between casual gamers who devote 110% effort into the game of their choice and those who play MMOs casually with less than 50% effort into what they are playing. There is a difference.

I recommend LoTRO if you're looking to eventually give up a majority of your play time to something else. It is a game that is easy to get into, rich in visuals and lore and perfect for short burst of play times.

for me, no matter how much i like a game, the biggest hurdle is time, i dont have a lot of it, between work & family etc, i can only really devote 3 evenings at most, a week to online gaming, and even then for only perhaps 3 hours or so... which to me is a fair chunk of time! this probably puts me in the casual gamer class unfortunately....

    1) has decent population
    2) has decent pvp
    3) has decent endgame
    4) leveling doesnt feel like a grindfest
    5) also if you know of any other games that meet these qualities please list them

I cannot vouch for the PvP or endgame as I am still leveling my first toon, but I was in a wow raiding guild and fell in love with Fallen Earth. It takes some getting used to, but it is a very nice departure from WoW. They have a 10-day free trial, you should check it out.

The only one of those 3 i could possibly recommend, is probably everquest2 but only because its not as bad as the other 2.... theres a free trial of warhammer at least, and also everquest 2.. not sure about champions and tbh, with all i've heard about champions ..i'm not sure i'd bother with one anyway, so give the free trials a go, though my guess is that you might want to give a few other games a look-over as your list is a bit limited.. and dare i say it.. dated..

For that matter, if you are looking for some really nice PvP- WAR is a great game for that.
