Few questions about ryzom

ElendilasXElendilasX Member Posts: 243

I tried this game few times in past and want to know if few things has changed:

Has money got any value? Each time I played there was no worth of money, you just join guild which provides you with crystals and top equipment. No money sink, usefull or not, so money were totally useless..

Crafting/Gathering. Is top materials are still found in Roots and top equipment are crafted using Roots materials?

Have they introduced any sort of "end-game content"?  I dont expect usual dungeons/raids type but anything at all. I know there is locations to be conquered but they are split between alliances/guilds and no one else were trying to take them over. So is there any endgame content, pvp or pve or pvpve based?

    Hi

    1. The Dapper is still very, very inflationary, But most people trade in goods, so it kinda works. Money isn´t everything. But it´d be cool to have something done about it. Yes.

    2. Yes. But very good stuff can also be built with things from the "upside", Boss loot and such. And anyway, istn´t it normal that "the best stuff" must be somewhat risky to get? I know of no game where all great items are just thrown your way

    3. The model of "EndGame content" simply doesn't fit Ryzom. It was coneived for another, totally different type of game.

To most of those that have been playing Ryzom for longer than just a year or so, the content is what you experience along the way. Just grinding your way up to multiple masters and then expecting to get to "another Game experience" is simply a misconception on the part of those used to WoW, AION and their likes.

These games sport another category of Gameplay, which in itself is fine and great. But coming to Ryzom with these things in mind, will always disappoint you. It´s just not this type of Game. Its about "living" on Atys, experiencing its history in the making, encountering and besting the things that are thrown in your way by the event teams and the devs alike.

In the beginning of "The Saga" Nevrax officials said that: "They wanted a Game that feels like a Pen&Paper Session."

Such a Game can't have "End Game content" like others do. Such a Game evolves, reacts to the actions of its players (those that participate in the Events and try to make a difference in its world) and will not set you before an endless Quest-Line to follow up to one Über-Boss to beat the crap out of. It expects you to get a little more involved. And not just "consume".

This said, from what you write up there, I don´t think that you will like what has changed over the last few years. Of course I don´t really know your tastes, so please don´t misunderstand me.

Sorry, but to me you do sound like someone who´s bill is better fit with a Game like WoW or Aion or any other of its like. Again please don´t misunderstand. I don´t mean to offend.

And I already hear someone howling for my blood for this statement, but unless"you" (as in someone) aren't willing to try another approach to gameing/playing an MMO than the fixation on "End Game Content", then Ryzom isn't for you. (as in anybody)

And as I always say: To each his/her own. Everyone is entitled to his or her favorite style of play. Which is surely catered to somewhere out there. Mine is Ryzoms? Your´s is another. So what?

I´ll invite anyone to try Ryzoms gameplay, but I´d like to caution you too. If it doesn't fit someones particular  taste, I want this someone to please be honest about it and don´t heap abuse on the game and those who like it. I certainly won't expect anyone to.

Note: English isn't my native language and though I pride myself on having a decent grasp of it, some things aren't easy to explain. So I hope I made myself clear. Again, no offense intended.
