And yet no one has answered my post yet about the lag in the city areas....

Or better yet, when you first land in a zone, swing your camera around. Watch as the engine chugs along trying to load all the graphics from your hard drive using late 90's or early 00's file loading procedures. Sure after everything is loaded in a few seconds it is fine. But the point is, this engine reminds me a lot of Ultima IX.

LotRO stutters (not lags, lag is related to latency, not FPS) for a few seconds as I enter a new zone or a Skirmish. But the rest of the time, it stays above or around 50 FPS on the highest settings. Does that mean "LotRO = FAILURE", too? I'm pretty sure that a few seconds' loading time is no big deal if the rest of the experience is smooth.

    1. The stutters in LOTRO are minimal compared to Warhammer. Not even the same ballpark. Only in Bree is there some quick pauses but that's it.

    2. The stutters in Warhammer made me quit 6 months ago. But yes, it has improved. Stutters never made me quit LOTRO.

I never said Warhammer = Failure because of the performance. However, given the number of current subscriptions and the firing of people, Jacobs leaving, etc, yes, its a failure. And a lot of people I know quit because of performance like me.

See that's the thing. YOU had no problems with it. Me? I have played Warhammer on 3 different machines with various operating systems and types of hard drives. It was always a very stuttering game for me. But this may not bug you, so for you, it runs FINE. So you go around on message boards saying Warhammer runs FINE, and the developers see this and are slow to fix it...

My FINE and your FINE may be different.

Don't get me wrong through, like I said, it has improved A LOT since launch. Runs much smoother.

One variable you guys left out was the network. You could have a top-notch comp and a crappy network will bring your FPS down.  Its obvious that something is wrong on your end so going back and forth about it is silly.

I've noticed alot of complaints from alot of peoples according to lag issues with this game. No matter what high end computers they've had.

I don't think it's that easy to just dismiss the OP as a troll as some folks might think, there's no smoke without a fire...;)

Well, being as sophisticated as possible in any post, especially in a starter post is always welcome. So, OP should have elaborated his oppinion in that manner, but he chose the easier way. (Even the topic's title for that OP is a trolling per se :) )

On the other hand, lag is an internet connectivity issue, while possible graphical issues due to the graphical engine, and despite your uberhardware is another one.

Seriously, WoW is still lagging like hell, but no-one thinks that it's a failure... nuff said.

Sorry to hear that.  I don't have "an amazing computer" setup for the PC I play WAR! on, and I play it at maximum graphics levels with next-to-no lag.  I've never really had a problem with lag in the game except during the extremely high-end T4 raids with hundreds of people involved, and those have been massively altered to be a much more enjoyable experience since the game was released.

I would warn anyone from taking this thread too seriously.  Play the unlimited free trial and see what kind of "lag" you get.  I'm willing to bet it's minimal, WAR actually has a decent server setup with little lag now.

to the op , I don't share your lag experience and i believe the game may not be the best mmo but there is no denying that it is fun to pvp and you dont have to look long for a fight.

See?  Yet another person who isn't experiencing lag.

Perhaps it *isn't* the game guys.

Nope. network is fine. AoC runs like a dream with much better graphics. My pings in both Warhammer and AoC are around 100.  Did you bother to do this below?

Fly into Altdorf and make your character walk to the main bank area, then the mailbox to the left of that and then finally through the door nearby into the auction house. If you say you can do all of that without any quick pauses, chops or stutters, you are lying, especially walking from the mailbox into the auction house.

I can do all of that without any quick pauses, chops, or stutters and no, I am not lying.  If you'd like to pay for the cost of a plane ticket we can meet at a public place somewhere in Phoenix, AZ and I'd be happy to show you this on my PC.

What are your tracert results to the Mythic server? Care to post?

WoW does not lag at all. Check your network. The framerate might bog down in Dalaran but that's not lag.

So when you first land in a zone from flying, you can swing your camera around and it is 100% smooth? And when you are in Altdorf market area there are never any cuts while it loads textures?

Also I am not talking about lag. I am talking about  hitching and quick pauses.

I love this.  Statements like "WoW doesn't lag at all" or "WAR always lags" are ridiculous, and if you understood network infrastructure as I do, you would know this.  Sometimes events out of your control - a cut cable, a thunderstorm causing an outage, anything - can cause traffic to be RE ROUTED at ANY GIVEN TIME - causing additional hops along the way.  There will be times with, due to network traffic on ANY network, ANY MMO CAN LAG - WoW included.  This isn't due to WoW; it's due to Network Traffic - especially if you're sharing, say, a cable internet ring with a lot of simultaneous users.

This isn't even getting into how some companies like Comcast can digitally SLOW DOWN traffic for MMO's and sites like torrent, so you think you're getting your 10MB/sec or whatever but in reality, they see you're playing an MMO and they cap it at much, much less than that.

You might have a clear jump to, say, Age of Conan but NOT to WAR.  This doesn't mean WAR lags and AoC doesn't; it means that for you, for whatever reason, might have more network issues getting there.

Any MMO can and will lag when your network connection suffers.  No network connection is on 100% of the time operating at 100% peak efficiency for every game.

Nope.  It's 100% smooth, my friend.  I subscribe to the game, you know, and I'm not a masochist.  I enjoy the experience.  It runs well for me.

    WoW does lag, sorry. :)

Played WAR on an AMD XP 3800, 2 gigs of ram, xtx 1800 256meg video card and the only lag was in large fights when Ruin would bring its zerg and we'd have 2-300 people attacking a keep/fort with another 1-200+ destro inside.  Everyone lagged in those though.

I call BS on a high-end machine lagging in tier 1, that did not happen, even when the game first launched and the places, especially T1 empire/chaos, were packed with people.

edit:  The forts were doing with effects off, because any PC is brought to its knees by hundreds of effects going off every second, even Aion, which people claimed was stable as all hell.

I never said Warhammer lagged for me. My issues with Warhammer is the loading of textures from the hard drive.

YOU didn't say Warhammer lagged.  Several others did.  I was responding to them.

YOU said that you had texture loading "stuttering" problems.  I feel for you, brother, but I don't have these issues at all.

I can only fathom that this is a problem on your end if I can play the game, my wife can play the game, and everyone I know who plays the game does so without any of the problems you mention but YOU can't get it to work.  Sounds like something on your end to me!

Yes but you took my phrase "wow does not lag" and mixed it with someone else's "warhammer lags" and slapped them together to make your unified point. Never do this, as you are only taking bits and pieces of what people say and mashing them together to fit your argument.

Word of advice, lay off the network skills bragging. I work in IT too and we laugh at guys like you who think you are all that..

Word of advice, don't give me any advice.  I honestly don't need it from you, I guarantee.

You can "laugh at me" if you want, I promise, my self-esteem will remain intact.  I'm confident in my skills and in my background; if you choose to discount me, feel free.  "Working in IT" can mean you work in a call-center help desk job, which is what I am guessing you mean when you say you "work in IT" - being an actual network technician is, I assure you, quite different.  When most people say they have worked in IT they mean they worked for a help desk.  That's not all that impressive considering most of these help desk jobs don't even require a college degree, let alone any functional technical knowledge...

That's... not all that impressive.  But, then again, I'm not here to brag about my skills one way or the other.  I simply offered a few things people could do (like tracert) and then offered to help them further if they PM'd me.  I'd say I was being helpful, not arrogant in the slightest.  If you think I'm full of it you are free to ignore me, as I said, my self-esteem will remain intact.

I don't come here to feed my ego.  Notice I don't post in EVE and Aion's boards - because I hate those games.  I came here, to the WAR board, to say how much I am enjoying this game and then I offered some assistance to anyone that claims the game is "lagging" - as far as "texture loading problems" I'd be happy to try and help you resolve those as well.

You, on the other hand, seem to be devoted to telling people that WAR has texture loading problems and anyone who doesn't notice the 1-2 second "pauses" is "enjoying the game too much" to notice.
