Solo friendly?

Will FFXIV be solo friendly or will it be (as previous FF games) strongly dependent on groups?
I remember that my biggest frustration on FFXI was never being able to get a group with my Dark Knight, even though i had great gear. I gave up at lvl 54

Very solo friendly I think, with guildleves allowing you to set anything from to solo to full group as you choose.
Also, the armory system (where you can level 4 jobs on one character) seems to be built to relieve LFG frustrations that you see in games like Aion, while still maintaining the need for strong group roles (which imo are essential to avoid zerg like grouping that you see in games like Champions).
No one here knows.

well of course that above poster is not 100%. The games not in beta as of yet so to make a difinitive judgment on weather or not its as solo friendly as he said, can not be proven whatsoever. What people can tell you is what SE has stated, like that they want it to be more solo friendly then FFXI and appeal to a much broader spectrum of play styles.
Do i think it will be solo friendly...well yes, but this is SE and they also said they want to appeal to the FFXI fanbase first and foremost. This would imply that it will still have a good chunk of group content and still be more community/group driven as opposed to more twords what we have seen lately in games, which has been (for my tastes) a bit too solo friendly.
Also just noteing that its not 4 classes, its 4 catagories of classes, in which you can play any of the classes in each of them.
Only thing I've heard SE say in regards to solo friendliness so far is that you can do few GuildLeves alone, but then you have to help others with their Leves if you want to progress that way. For helping out, you get a bonus in your progression as well.
It's like the MMM system right now in XI I guess- you can do as many runs as you like, but only few yourself.
It doesn't sound too bad, honestly. Since you can probably duo many leves, you don't have to look for a full size group to do something. You kinda have to communicate with others if you want to progress fast, however.
If there's some other form of progression aside from Leves that you can do alone its a different case though- but leves will probably be the best form of progression.
