Just wondering what everyone hopes stays in this game from XI and also, what are some new things people hope for. I should be clear I'm talking about aspects of the game that make the world more interactive. I don't much care to hear you want a new weapon animation or anything along those lines. Just what is a feature that you hope will make the game feel more "alive".....probably a terrible term to use lol.

I hope they find a way to keep players leveling different jobs from level1 so that the noob areas don't die out. The way they did 11 was great with the subjobs and advanced jobs. It seemed like there were always people leveling new jobs.
probably some of the more simple things like the group aspect, community, Large and wonderful looking world, tons of classes to play, same great story aspects...ect I have faith they will make a great game and the most suspicous people of this game tend to be the FFXI players (where as the other chunk of old FFXI players are the complete oposite)
Of course id like to see things change of course, like a bit (and i mean just a bit) more solo play, more stuff you can do in mid sized groups, better quest system, newer systems for guilds/searching/parts of comabt..ect.
Il be playing from day 1 and il be willing to give this game more then a fair chance, but if it ends up sucking i will let you know ASAP. This game is kind of my last shot at truely getting into a new MMO.
Yea in every mmo Ive played that is a big problem. When the mmo matures it becomes difficult to get and keep new players because the noob zones are empty. If they can figure the right way to fix that it will go a long way.

though i don't see this ever being fully fixed in an MMORPG, SE has done some things to extend the life of lower zones such as:
1) letting you play every job, so people will keep trying out new ones.
2) adding new jobs in expansions
3)keeping some form of level sync in this game too.
any game where your character grows in some way will never last too long keeping players in the lower zones. You can find ways to extend it, but never keep them filled forever.
Lets hope they get rid of the level sync system, it kinda messed up the whole leveling...
Well the obvious mainstay was the sub class system, however with everyone able to be any class,i feel the class system is being diluted here.
I also loved the renkai system,i just wish they would advance it even further ,i saw some flaws and i also saw some ways to make it much better.
FFXi had a ton of spells and abilities,i think we are going to lose a lot of them and i cannto see any new ideas coming about, just because i feel they exhausted every good idea in FFXI.
An obvious NEW idea would be to get rid of attacks auto following you around corners or through walls, that would be a HUGE improvement on the game. This would mean using the game world to your advantage, like hiding behind a tree or rock ect ect.I definitely do not want to see any form of a twitch system, because they run high lag servers,i often had 600/1200 pings. So i still want attacks to auto-follow but i also want them to be deflected if they hit obstacles.
I want to see the Magic Burst system brought back, but i would like to see it play a much larger role.they should have fixed that easily in FFXI but were too lazy i guess.lower the nukers set damage, but give Magic Burst a lot more damage. This encourages group play, encourages players to co ordinate their weapon skills ,instead of going solo, that really bothered me a lot.
One huge change i want to see,is better implementation of weapons and delays. The longest delays should ALWAYS be more damage than puny fast weapons in similar situations, elemental differences can change that of course.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I loved skillchains too, though in this dept I think SE could take a page from LOTRO's Fellowship Maneuvers which are similar but instead of just damage, different combos would restore health, power, apply a powerful DOT or many combinations of those things if you got more advanced with it.
I am also a fan of the skillchains. EQ2 had combos but you could pull one off by just clicking on the button that flashes and you just press it... FFXI skillchains you had to have some real coordination.
