Wouldnt really surprise me if the sales are doing pretty bad considering there seems to be a major lack of content, not only end game, but even for one of the factions (specifically klingon). After the failure that was Warhammer Online, where they pretty much pulled similar crap.... launched a game which was missing a large part of the expected & promised content, only to rapidly decline in customers after the first month and in the end never even release said content to paying customers, im sure the whole missing content thing put off a lot of people who were planning on buying it, at least until they actually put the contnt into the game. Im sure as hell not gonna buy another game thats missing content and features its supposed to already have in place with the promise of "oh just give us your money and we give you our word we will give you everything that was promised"

yea screw Cryptic and their bush league tactics
i was pumped for this game cause i love sci-fi games
but damn i'm not touching this with a 10 foot pole
I am not a fan of this game by any stretch of the imagination, but a 10 dollar sale is hardly a death spiral. When they can't give the client away, well then there is an issue.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
STO regular edition was priced I think $39 the other day at Gamestop. And I saw it for $49 today at Walmart so it was probably only on sale there. The only time I might consider buying it though is when it hits $10 on Steam w/ 30 days like CO did. And even then I'd probably wait a long while for the game to flesh out before activating the code and jumping in.
I see the same thing said about almost every other MMO after they release, and yet each time it's said about the next it's as though it's some unusual portent of doom.

Yeah I agree. Long may cookie cutter MMO's continue.
Should be around $19.99 by Black Friday, if you can hold out until then, you would probably be better off (That is, if you are bent on buying it and have not yet).
Nah, nothing new. Stores usually care more about console games, so they only keep PC games at full price for a month at best, then they need to open up space for the console games.

Hey, WAR endgame was seriously flawed but atleast it had one. STO has nothing except repeteable PvP/PvE mission instances which are completely pointless since you are capped.

It is not, since they are making a profit on it then they keep doing it. But maybe it is time to see MMOG as single player games and not expect much more than a month gameplay with only the diehard fans staying longer.
Well maybe not for all MMOGs but for Cryptic I will not be expecting more than a month of gameplay.

Indeed, it would be nice to have some links to the source of this sale.
My curiosity is piqued.
EDIT: Nvm, just checked the front page of the official site, Digi Deluxe Edition is marked down from 59.99 to 49.99.

Same sale on Direct2drive but they say it is only until Feb 25.
Does this mean STO is now the equivalent of getting 'Double dragon: The movie' for SFA in a petrol (gas) station bargain bin?
Jam is sticky.
