Well it's sunday and all is hell in Neva, Navi or what a hell its called. Lets recap some events:
Friday, game is playable and server reboot is done when SV people leave office.
Saturday, NPCs are dropping thru buildings and having graphical glitches. Desync issues are growing, server and client doesn't seem to communicate unless needed.
Sunday, Major lag and NPCs bugging.
Whole MO reminds me old MMOs, constant server reboots, design flaws and amateur mistakes all over. I guess that what is called UO heritage.

Don't participate in beta if you rage over bugs and glitches.
My sig is just as logical as your posts are
A lot of game actually have a daily mandatory server reboot. EvE has one (With is rather long), Global Agenda has one (with is only a couple of minutes). So do not really see the problem with that.
I was old enough to be in UO beta....it was just as bad in beta as MO is in its beta.
Yes, I'm actually not complainning on restarts, I'm complaining that SV does do it on weekends. Clearly they must know that there software is leaking so badly(either by design, debug or poor coding) that it needs cleaning daily.

Comparing performance to a game you played on a 28.8k dialup modem seems like a pretty good baseline to me....
Yup.. when I play DragonAge I always compare it to the original Baldur's Gate...
Yeah I guess if a game can compare (performance wise) to a 13 year old game that founded a genre... that should be good enough...
Don't worry though, it's the Eve of Miracle Monday! Tomorrow we shall all wakeup and unwrap the presents delivered by St. Henrick. At long last we will have all that content which was held back, all the lag will go away, all the broken systems will be fixed, and we will finally have the real Mortal Online! I don't know how I will be able to sleep tonight...

You are speaking about "real" MMORPG companies, SV is little more than 5 guys in a garage and have no budget for round the clock support.

/facepalm.
are you kidding me?
They have to do this as something in the core system is broken and it starts overflowing, which causes the server lag. It has been like this for months in their closed beta.
A - The game is completely broken and mostly unplayable, half the core features are missing or placeholders or just not working properly and the majority of the content is missing. Given this situation, Starvault are still claiming they're nearing the end of the development cycle by running an open beta (last stage before release) and have set the release date within the next month or so. Does that not concern you?
B - Doesn't make the game any more playable does it? Whether they have 400 employees or just one man and his dog, this game is nowhere close to release and needs months of polish and rebuilding before it can be considered ready for sale.
C - The "miracle patch" might fix up a few bugs, but the changes it makes to core mechanics and new content will all bring new bugs that need to be ironed out, and most likely a few new exploits that have to be identified and dealt with. So they'll be fixing old bugs but adding new ones. Even a highly successful team like Blizzard don't just throw in new content without weeks of testing first, and even then they continue to discover bugs and exploits after release. Why would SV be any different?
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to try out the new patch today when it's released and I'm going to hope they somehow manage to pull the cat out of the bag right at the last minute because I think this game does have potential. However, logic and past experience tell me that this is extremely unlikely and what will happen is the game will be better than before (not difficult to be honest), but still far short of the quality expected from a retail release.

you mean 20+ interns with no experience

actully no half the core features aent missing i think pretty much all of them will be in with tommorrows patch but te bugs.. they relaly just need to do bug patches after this
Exactly! After the MiraclePatch the game will be feature complete and we will see all the cool stuff that was held back until launch.
Then just a few tweaks and bug fixes and we should see launch!
