there's literally been nothing new released regarding new mmo's since the gw2 trailer and the ffiv trailer.

i been checking mmorpg.com every day for the past few months hoping something new we didn't know has been said yet nothing

We'll get FFXIV info next weekend. How much is unknown, but beta start date will most likely be announced at least.

Just saying. It's been 2 months since the year started. Lay off for a while. Maybe if it were June, I'd see your point, but it's not. It's February.

We're barely 2 months into the new year.

 

Companies are wrapping up their fiscal 4th quarters as well so I expect some things to pop within the next month or two.

If you check Gamasutra you will see GW2 is probably a long way from being done because they are still hiring some KEY factors into making the game.

This imo will be a very dead year for MMO's but it won't matter to me ,because only FFXIV really carries any weight and it is a game i might want to play.

I do not think GW2 will be a true mmorpg nor will it carry much content.I think even FFXIV might not take it's true form until an xpac later,probably see additions like housing and other ideas added in xpacs.I do not think FFXIV will be as big or complete and in depth as FFXI,but it will be a tad different, i like to see what Square creates,because they are creative ,not just copy cats of other games.

TERA had some potential to cater to both PVE and PVP fans,but i am not sure if that game will survive after million dollar lawsuits.what really makes me wonder is how NCSOFT got a hold of what i believe would have been a copyright material in TERA to be able to take them to court?Something tells me someone inside TERA staff was paid off by NCSOFT to divulge copyright material,they should have countered with a lawsuit of their own.

 if by "this year" the OP means "since 2005", yup, its not just you. It has been a dry lustrum.
