Wow... did I just see somebody compare MMO's to fighting games?  Seriously?

Alright, I'll play your silly game.

Why doesn't Tekken 6 have an auction house?  I think that's lame!!!  Also, where are the 12 player raids?  Tekken suxxors!  I can't even make my own character!!!

For the same reason all thunder sounds the same in cartoons or maybe you've heard of the "The WILHELM Scream"? There's only so many ways you can create a sound effect and in most cases, the sound of a sword hitting a shield will sound the same no matter what, with small variations depending on your location or the material of the weapons/armor.

Most games choose an audio file based on the armor the foe has on. In warcraft there is a soft thud for leather/hide, metal twinkle sound for chain, and dull thunk for plate. Most mmo's however have a single "hit" sound and "critical" sound regardless of the foes armor. It all depends on how much the developer believes this aspect of immursion is worth their time and effort.

That is funny too because ALL Asian games seem to use the exact same 8 bit sound bytes,i played a ton of these games, and never hear any variations.IMO the North Amercanized games do use different sounding files and sometimes of higher quality than that 1980's 8 bit standard.I find it VERY funny he mentions Mabinogi a game that is totally low end the whole game utilizes often used textures/sound files.

Did you know that the gamecube music is actually the famicom disk startup? It's also not the first time this same tune is heard. It's also heard in Animal Crossing.

it doesnt have to sound like hitting shield when we clash our sword on shield. it doesnt have to sound like hitting flesh when we slice our sword on flesh.... as long as it sounds good and feel powerful that you can really feel it.

    Reign of Revolution - Pristontale 2 - Aika - Lineage 2  - TERA - Talisman Online - Diablo 3 - Dungeon Runners

melee attacking sound and feel better than...

Mark of Kri - Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Allods Online - 4 Story - Runes of Magic

next gen Prince of Persia sound better than ps2/xbox Prince of Persia

    mainly talking about melee attacking.
