Hey, I am running an athlong xp 2400+ at 1.1 ghz, 1.5 GB ram, x800 XT 256 mb.

Should I overclock my processor, or is it fine the way it is?

i wouldnt overclock it unless you know what you are doing, just buy a new processor they arent very expensive these days, you could probably snag one at http://www.newegg.com for less than 100$

here is one, right here athlon xp 2700+ at 2.17ghz for 93 dollars, cant get much better than that. (i think all athlon xp's are socket a)

Question why would you want to OC your processor for EQ2 to start with?

You have a good system there so why tamper with it.

You can squeeze a couple of fps 1 or 2 secs on loading with say a 3ghz processor but why bother?

With that system i see zero reason to upgrade unless you just want to.Thew processor is certainly not a problem, the Gcard is niceimage and u got the RAM so u are fine.

The only reason I would overclock is because of the game.  I was just wondering if it would run better on a faster CPU.  The thing is, I feel like its a bit low, and should be a bit higher because I thought athlon XP 2400+ had a faster clock speed, but maybe not?

    Hi,

The 2400+ is a 2.0 ghz chip...and should be set "stock" at a 266 FSB

I bet your mobo is st at the default FSB 100 setting.

If you know how , go into your bios (hit delete on boot page) and look and see where your cpu frequency setting is at. I bet it's at 100...just change it to 133 (133xDDR) ='s 266 FSB

Hit F10 save and exit .....then you will reboot and should see a difference.

Find a friend or someone who can help you if your not sure or have never messed with your bios settings before.

Also 1 gig of ram should be plenty!

    Best of Luck!

1700+ XP, 1 Gig RAM and Ti 4200 with 64MB RAM

    runs fine at "high performance"

so you dont need to change anything
