Why can't I email Australia?

So recently I started playing MMOs with a guy from Australia, but now... I can't email him from Gmail... why?

Tells me it was rejected by the domain...

    could be that the address hes given you doesn't exist or hes spelt it wrong to you, most Australian address have .au i believe in them.  I have cousins in Australia and have no problems emailing them whatsoever so i would suggest hes given you the wrong address or has spelt it wrong.

    i setup my gmail while in Australia and it is XXXX@gmail.com, not XXXX@gmail.com.au.

    try both?
