WoW clone?

SebaliSebali Member UncommonPosts: 395

I've heard many a game being called a "wow clone". to me that can mean it looks like wow, or it plays like wow orit has the same setup as wow, or any combination of the 3.

my questions is. i know this game looks like wow. but is the setup(the classes and leveling system) and the gameplay like wow?

not sure how you got "will beat wow" or that i didnt know the name of the game.

I'm asking if the gameplay and setup is the same as wow.

I played wow since beta till 6= months ago. if i wanted a wow type game i would go back to wow.

    thats why i am asking.

There are differing opinions on this topic. It may appear similar to WoW, including art design and UI, but (in my opinion) most of the similarities end there. Completely different story, dual class system, different crafting system, etc. PvP in WoW is obviously much more developed. If you like PvE I prefer RoM but that's subjective of course. Since it's F2P you probably could just download it and compare at least for an evening. I'm not going to discuss cash shop or other issues. The gameplay itself is enjoyable but someone looking for something completely unlike WoW might want to go elsewhere. Then again...most fantasy based MMOs have a broad set of things that are similar.

In the end I guess it depends on how patient you are as well as how demanding. Maybe some other gamers with a lot more experience with WoW than I have can better answer this. Good Luck!

I guess by your logic, Everquest is a WoW clone. LOL

    jk

But to your point. You looking for a alt game to WoW, then this is a good game for that. Dont expect much from the PvP side of it tho. They are working on that.

But basically is similar to WoW in PvE. They have different class mechanics, but with similar archetypes.

The game is a bit grindy. Since you have to grind a lot to lvl up Crafting, and to lvl up your secondary class. But if you enjoy lvling, then this is your cup of tea.

The World is persistant, but dont expect as much smoothness in the control department as WoW. Thats one of my biggest complaints.

The Click to Move is (Optional) but its still a killer of the controls. Makes the game play controls feel wierd at times.

The game is Clicker friendly, but I just dont like the way the Mouse controls are set up. I perfer the set up that WoW uses for its mouse controls. but I guess they wanted to make some things different from WoW.

Dont believe you can pan the Arrrow/wasd while paning the mouse to control the camera. I dont like that feel. But you get use to it.

    Also the Classes are fun.

Iam sure you know that most of the MMORPG community here hates WoW, and anything related to WoW like things such as Stealth Classes and such.Well Sorry, cause RoM has all of that.

Only thing left for the Class development IMO should be new Support classes and more balancing of some of the current classes.

Its a run of the mill generic linear mmo.

Has a heavy quest focus and your normal pvp/pve endgames.

If that means its a WoW clone then yes its a wow clone.
