Yes, while I was not willing to pay $50 for DF, I will now try it for 7 days for 1$. I would have paid $15 for a one month trial as well. Depending on whether the game is anygood, I may sign up for a month, but I hate paying $50 for the client. Just charge me $15 a month.

You might have a point there. But last I checked to get a disposable CC the min amount is $5 and if they used that to make the account then a simple ban of the account and that CC would make the user out $4. If the used it to make 5 accounts then a simple ban of the CC would stop all 5 accounts I would imagine.

A Trial was always going to happen... it just depended on when. An MMO without a Trial is a dead MMO.
Sure, hacks are going to happen... probably a bit more now than before. But, in the end the extra players the Trial attracts out-weighs the negatives it brings with it.

Technically, you are correct... $1 is not FREE... but, it's close enough. Sure, I would have like for them to have offered a Free Trial for 14 or even 21 days... but this is a good start.

I agree, this will deter a pretty good amount of people, but for all those who were really wanting to try Darkfall but didn't want to commit 50 dollars, this is a great option. Perhaps if this works and the population increases, we will see a free trial in the future.

For the last time, It's obvious they don't charge 1$ for the money since that will not make a profit at all it's just to make sure the person is using a valid CC so they can blacklist any hackers/gold farmers. Protect the current user base from what? Falling sub numbers less cash coming into the company, the threat of server closure, how is paying a dollar for a trial going to offer any protection to the current player base? I mean like the game but please avoid trying to use BS logic on the less enlightened.
BTW gang there is a such thing as age verification systems that take CC info without charging anything so please again stop using that as an excuse to charge a dollar, if 500k people try the 1 dollar trial you do the math on what they will make and tell me it isn't about the money, especially again since age verification software exists that doesnt have to charge you a dollar even.
