I randomly found out about the trial while leafing through mmorpg.com's forums and woot I'm glad I found it. I was always curious about this game but I didn't want to fork over full price to try it. It's much better than I thought it would be after reading many negative posts for the past year on forums!
I see myself playing for a really long time, which is much more than I can say about my last game- STO *puke*.
It's like the wild west in a video game. So much fun. Plus, so far, I've run into far more helpful people that jerks, which is not what I expected after reading horror stories on various forums.

Welcome to Agon!!! I'm glad you're liking it. I have been playing since launch and trust me it's only improving now 2010 is going to be a good year for DF. Also I would suggest you go join the clan "NEW" on either NA or EU they're really helpful for newcomers.

As for how I'll feel 3 months in- 3 months is pretty much the longest I've ever really enjoyed an MMOPRG, so if it can match that, it's at least as good as any other I've played. There is way more potential in this game though with full loot open world pvp. I imagine I will be raiding towns and villages for quite a while and having fun doing it once I get pvp competative.

Trust me past 3 months is when the fun starts really showing in DF, once you start getting into the clan warfare/sieges and being able to hold your own in a 1v1 you'll start seeing what the game has to offer. Just wait til you get in your first naval fight
I agree. I have been playing for 11 months and I still like the game. I just wonder what people play instead who decide to leave.

This. There's nothing better out there, IMO.
Best game I've played since old pre-NGE SWG.
I got the game a few weeks ago. I recommend this game to anyone that enjoys a good pvp mmo. I will be playing darkfall for quite a while.
I'm still new but, i'm already getting tired of people from the trial bashing the game after less than a days worth of play, they knew coming into the game that it catered to a niche audience yet they feel the need to complain on the forums constantly because it doesn't cater to their themepark mmo standards.
I'm loving the game still, it just takes some hard work and perseverance to get where you want to go...and I dont see this as a problem as long as I feel the game is worth the effort. I hope the feeling continues but thusfar I can't see it ending anytime soon. I can only hope more people who know what the game entails by doing their research, come into the game and start enjoying thmselves as I have and slowly build up the population...whilst weeding out all the cry babies.

Just so people know, the reason there's two threads on here by me saying basically the same thing is because I made one on the general discussion board and they moved it over to this one.

I play Heroes of Newerth now after quitting Darkfall not because it's a bad game, but because I don't want to spend all my time in it. HoN is more casual friendly so I can just hop on and have some fun whenever I want.
I must say the whole community has chanced a bit these days we vetrans all see we need new fresh blood plus we all wanne help Darkfall become bigger as community and AV succes.
So new clans like NEW are made to help out new players is a great step forward in getting new influx of players that stay and enjoy.
But offcorse its still a harsh free for all pvp game with full loot dont think you will be left alone for longtime PK are waiting dont make no mistake about that hehe.
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

Yeah I got ganked today for the first time. I lost one of my two mounts (I'm gonna keep a spare because I will probably be losing them quite often at the beginning here). I was kind of careless though and let my health drop really low fighting goblins and I was far from my bind point. Not sure if I would've gotten away anyway since it was just my first pvp encounter. I fully expect to die to players quite often for a few weeks at least lol.
On the flipside, the captain of New helped me out with a few sets of gear and weapons, so I didn't lose much. There definitely is a cool mix of super helpful and cutthroat in the community in this game.

Happens pretty regularly for me. Just deal with it and move on. If you sweat it, it will get to you.

This is why I despise any PVP in any MMO. It seems very silly to me to beat up others and lose valuables. I'm a PVE lady for life. I respect those who like PVP but I just associate it with children and just nothing that even remotely interests me about it.

But seriously, I can understand how you might have that preconception about a game like this. Sometimes the immature shits can get a little more on you nerves. But the beauty is they'll have that reputation to live with. And you and your friends can treat them accordingly

I don't really care for it, and its not really a game play issue with me per say, I just feel too confined with the camera setup (1st person or very close 3rd person), I dunno just makes me feel uncomfortable.
Its seems like a fine game, and the world is quite nicely done, I just cannot get past the weird camera (weird to me)
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
