Memory question and multiple dimms

I have 4 gigs of ram in my computer. Each stick is 2gb.

I want to have 6 gigs of ram, butI cant find a 2gb stick anywhere by itself. So I will have to settle for 1gb sticks. #2

my question is will having two 2gb sticks and 2 -1gb sticks mess u p performance?

 

or will that be ok.

Actually, it would be better than if you had three 2gig sticks, as long as you have each stick in the right slot for your dual channel memory.

Unless you have tri channel, then it's going to mess it up. If you do, just click here. If you're not running an i7, you dual channel and not tri channel though.
