How long will $20 last?

I just started this game yesterday, and so far I'm loving it. I love the look of the game, the art style, the community, etc.

If I put $20 into the game to get 200 PEDs, how long will that last a casual player? What's the cheapest thing to do in the game out of Hunting, Mining, Tailoring, Mindforce?

It'd be a shame if I can't enjoy a month of gameplay for $20.

Playing - EVE, Wurm

Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi

Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

20$ will not get you very far at all, maybe a few days tops if you are real sparing with your ammo, etc...

I can't say which is the cheapest activity these days because I know things have changed alot over the last few years, mining is probably the most efficient though.

The game is basically just an online casino with rpg elements tacked on to provide the user with something to do while they pump cash into the virtual slot machine and line the companies pockets.

The players that actually make a living off of EU have been playing the game since it launched, and have invested massive quantities of both time and money in order to see a return on there investment.

It is literally an impossibility for a new player to accomplish that now, because the veterans have monopolized the all of the biggest money makers for themselves.

Cheapest out of those things you listed is hunting, when done right. But while mining you could get better return % for the money invested after you've got high enough skill. Crafting is expensive as hell to start with, so stay away.

If you want really cheap, sweating costs nothing and you actually earn money while doing it. While swunting you can break even and won't lose any money. But after a while sweating gets really boring.

I'd suggest finding out the math behind the game (unless you go sweating, in wich case it's not needed), if you know exactly how much your decay/ammo/etc. is going to cost, you can pick up the cheapest alternative and your money will last twice as long. If I remember right, there are a few guides on the Entropia forums on playing the game on a $15 monthly budget, guess you could base your gameplay on it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to read some of the guides on Entropia Forums.

Wow really??? When did this happen???

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

It didn't . It was temporarily disabled because of the cryengine 2 update.

Sweating is now back. The price of a bottle of sweat is not that good though. (0.5 pec per bottle)

But there will be a big mindforce update soon, so the price of sweat will rise a lot

Starter gear never disappeared, it is still here, and with the current new planet that is rocktropia, a lot of new low cost weapons are appearing.

As for playing for $ 20 dollars. It is quite possible, if you avoid the obvious trap to hunt to large too soon.

check out this thread from a total new player who played for 15$ a month and lasted 9 months before running out of ped.

And here are some good tips on how to make the most of your 15 peds:

It's possible to survive on 10$ a month playing this game, or 0$ if you have enough time...

I created my account in '06 and started playing again a couple of weeks ago. I'm a "green" sweater. Haven't put 1 cent into this game but I've prob clocked a good 20 hours to get to the point of not having to sweat constantly.

Basically, when hunting, do NOT try to attack anything without full health and DO NOT fire your gun unless you're 110% sure you can kill it. Young Daikaba's are a good starting mob. Grouping will also help you alot especially if you're low on ammo or have someone more experienced with you.

1 shot of pistol ammo = .1 US cent...

Pistols > Rifles when you first start out...

Then once you skill up and max your n00b pistol...

    Rifles > Pistols

    Hope that helps!
