I had that to, normaly hapens when they are are checking out a reported post or about to weild the ban hammer. Can't see anything wrong with this so far, but do think three threads by the same poster may be a bit excessive. But I would be pissed off to in his place.

If the MMORPG mods want to close the threads I ask that instead the converge them into one.

2 threads were started by me, 1 was this the other was STO forums up in flames, the other was started by another poster.

Really I would love nothing more than for MMORPG to pick up this story.

That is what we have all been championing the past few days is exposure for this issue.

I am tired and my fingers hurt...I have waged war here, TTH, STO forums, Personal emails to contacts of Atari and Cryptic...I am ready for another to carry on the crusade...

    No, it is not.

Cryptic can file a cease a desist against Google to have the ad removed, which I'm sure they will. It is actually quite a common practice and Google has removed ads and cached material plenty of times in the past at a companies request.

We are getting offtopic though, the whole point of this thread was that the OP was claiming his screenshot proved fraud on Cryptic's part, which it most certainly does not.

Why would they do that when, for the third time in this thread, the Director of Customer Relations has a stickied thread in which he admits the 60-day offer did exist? The most interesting thing here is that the boss is saying one thing in the forums while his underlings are saying something else in direct response to customers.

Now thats interesting. Notice the "Expanded Content Available Now!" banner? If that refers to the 45-day promised content update then I wonder if that indicates they were intending this offer for when the Klingon content is added as an additional enticement and some drone in the marketing department cocked up and accidently set it loose in the world.

Complete conjecture though on my part and possibly completely wrong.

I was e-mailed this offer so I know it exists for sure.

The thing that bothered me was it said "60 extra days" and the game normally comes with 30. . so to me that meant 90 days. . I emailed them to confirm this. . guess now I know why they didn't answer :)

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

As I have already stated- We agree. The email proves nothing...BUT regardless of a cease and desist the ad (as it was when folks purchased the game) will be on file and thus its very easy to prove that the agreement was not/is not being honored.

We dont disagree on the fact that the OPs letter does not show very much in and of itself- But a simple subpoena to Google will provide the ad at the date the sales happened- Thats my point.

Why not just locate the cache as on google and save it on your own computer? I've saved the website  for the Collectors edition already, clearly showing in detail the free shipping and 60 days EXTRA free time. Not only that, it also clearly states the offer is available til march 3rd with no limitations what so ever. The fact that they have removed the offer before the stated date is fraud in itself.  Not honoring the offer to those that already purchased is criminal. Stop reporting this activity to MMO websites and start reviewing your legal rights in the matter. Also reporting this to the BBB would be a good start.

I have tried to find the add for the regular edition info in cache on google as well but that has all been updated within the last few hours and I'm unable to locate it, but I never use google, so someone else might have better luck.

You have to wonder if based on mmo experiences of the past 2 years, Cryptic isn't experimenting with a model that lets them make in box sales for a standalone game, then rake in whatever they can with subs til its no longer profitable. Normally I wouldn't think this was feasible considering the ongoing costs of maintaining and running an MMO, but with Cryptic's cookie-cutter, bare minimum mmo standards approach, it might be possible.

Iv'e got to go to work soon, haven't slept yet...this is all very entertaining. would be cool to here an opinion on it from the mmorpg.com staff.

Vanguard is possibly the best of the old-school MMO's. Try it now, it has completely gotten better.

Another case of release before it is ready, probably for financial reasons.

Explain why this is a bad thing again, I am old and slow.

What is wrong with offering a short-term, limited opportunity? Like on the TV when you see the offer seconds ticking down ....

    Have you read this thread?

#1 it told the existing playerbase and the people who pre ordered and beta tested and defended this game that 3 weeks after release they had overpaid BIG TIME.

#2 then hthey wont even honor the new deal they offered to the people who took it and are pretending there never was a deal

I personally have absolutely no problem with #1, as are Cryptic and Atari completely within their rights to charge what they wish when they wish.  Those that bought the game at the original prices agreed to pay them.  Cryptic owes them nothing regarding any future sales of the game.

#2 However is some seriously f'd up shit.

Regarding number 1: Just because they're in their rights, doesn't mean its not crapping on their customers.

People who are more invested in the game than I am might put it differently, but the two main reasons are: 1) The standard free 30 days for most of the people who bought the game hadn't even expired yet, and suddenly customers were being offered 90 days free; if the same deal were offered 90 days after launch, it wouldn't have been nearly as big an issue. And 2) It just isn't done. MMOs slash their retail costs, or they offer bundle deals, multiple months for a reduced overall cost. I'm not aware of any game, AAA or not, offering 90 days for free under any circumstances.

#1 left preorder enthusiasts (I don't like to call people fanboy unless absolutely necessary) with the impression that they had been under-appreciated, and #2 left people with the impression that Atari was less interested in building a healthy subscriber base than grabbing as much cash as possible right away.
