wt& the new instance... infected... almost godmode borgs...

If u heard the borg yelling at you... Resistance is Futile... then believe it, because it is in this instance...
But for some reason that doesnt seem right... somethign is out of place... and the thing I notice was that in such an instance, some borgs spawn right behind you, sometimes u dont even notice until you are half dead!!!!
In some others, and this one is the wrongest of all, you kill a borg, and they instantly spawn again in the same place... and i mean it, no cooldown for respawn... insta spawn, u need to kill the same mob like 3 times for it to be really dead...
example: BOOM! headshot! then their borgish body dissapear and then a new one pops up right where the original one was...
Unlike the ones that get stun and then healed back up after a few seconds by that strange machine u need to destroy first.... this other borgs doesnt feel right... somethign is out of place... i dont think this was the intended way to be of this instance... same with those strange 4 forcefields at the last room...
If the devs mean this to be this way, then wow, Resistance is Futile, is so true.... way too true to be true... almost epic... dont even try the instance, is futile...

They have to slow you down and keep you occupied somehow. Not the way i would have done it but they are just rushing stuff out the door to get the players excited again.
Ya, i got the same itch, they had to add something to keep people up, but unfortunatly the stuff they just added is a bit... impair...
I still have those borgs in my mind, boom, insta spawn... Now i see why i had nightmares yesterday of me getting chased by some psycho back in school lol...
I just read a thread on the official forums about this new encounter being as easy mode as the rest of the game. This should get interesting.
funny some are saying it's too hard and bugged to boot. One guy claims it took 3 hours and then they couldn't complete it. Also something about if you die you can't get back into the instance and rest of group is screwed. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Guess they should have disentangled their test server from the game server and put the stf to work out the bugs. Why they haven't done this already is beyond me. I often wonder if they really expanded the hardware or the lower lag/load is simply due to not as many people playing due to cancelled subs.

At this point cryptic may as well follow atari's lead and shut down the forums. I don't think anything can salvage this.

Anyway, reading the scenario description confirmed to me why you need to group and cannot bring bridge officers...
AI pathing. Put simply, the AI is not good enough to be able to find a 'path' to complete the scenario. Particularly the jumping from block to block part.
Also, this suggests to me that Cryptic really have no sustainable endgame finished.
IIRC they promised an endgame scenario would be released 45 days post launch?
The fact that they have released this tells me that they want to dangle a carrot to keep people subbed.
I wonder how long they spent putting this scenario together and if they expected it 'finished' so fast?
The reality is they simply cannot keep up if the end game is going to be scenarios.
And you would think that they would put forward the best they had to offer at this point?

According to this update: http://www.startrekonline.com/upcoming_content the first raid episode that launched today was supposed to be live by Feb 12th (week after launch). Almost three weeks late and that was the best they had? ROFL. I can't wait for the forum implosion come the 45 day patch if today is any indication, assuming it even happens.

Did you guys noticed they Banned Rumpleforeskin and Cold_Gin again. those two just love the ban stick.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing. but i dont think Cold_Gin is that much of a fan anymore i was reading his posts today and he was getting pretty down on the game. And after today he might not be liking cryptic all that much at all.
I see a few posters I'd normally associate with the CDF getting more testy on the forums. Even big fans are sore about the skill cap and speaking out. Which is what got Rumpleskin (sp?) banned looks like. Don't know for sure, but he was on that kick hard.
A few others are still protesting it, which looks to be ban hammer bait.
Here's an update from the forums:
Devs, I'll tell you why Infected is Broken.
1) MMOs are not platformers. Some people experience a whole second of lag between the time the jump button is pressed and your character actually jumps.
Not much I can say here Other than the jumps aren't all that difficult to make, once you do it a few times (even with lag) the gaps between them are visually deciving on purpose.
2) Characters can (and do) easily knock each other off into the plasma by accident.
Awesome.. working as designed then Watch out the drones can also shoot you mid-jump. Try going one at a time single file.
3) The sequences must be entered at almost exactly the same time, which makes playing without a voice chat option effectively impossible.

Working as designed as well.. there are several Engineering skill's that will negate this issue. Try to get one in your group.

6) 4 minutes is BARELY enough time to overcome all these other obstacles.
Not if you know what you're doing, know what your teamates can do, and have a solid plan before trying to defeat the boss. There is more than enough time, if all these things are in place.
7) Uploading the virus does no good until the generators are down, so why have the option to do so before then?
No idea what your even saying here.. as the one and only generator in the room has a shield around it unltil all four of the nodes in the room are under attck by the virus you upload. Upload the viruses quickly enough, and you will have plently of time to destroy the gererator, which moves you to the next stage.

If your MMO is designed to take advantage of third party software, you either need to integrate it into the game, or redesign your game so it doesn't rely on third party software. That's the dumbest thing I've seen a dev say since Craig Zinkivich's State of the Game.
It looks to me like the entire post is the dev telling the player that his concerns are stupid and that he won't even consider what the player is saying.
Wow on number 3..... Devs say Vent and TS clients are free.... yes the clients are free but the people that run them have to pay. Guess Cryptic should start forking over donations to the TS and Vent Servers then huh?
