Gold-seller ad

EricDanieEricDanie Member UncommonPosts: 2,238

I've just noticed one of these plague-ads in the top 468x60 ad slot and the same "company" on the special offer 160x600 slot.

Does this means MMORPG.com now allows gold selling ads, or it's simply a fail of the ad system that let this one slip in?

I certainly hope they're not advocating it, and doubt they actually are.

Chances are it simply slipped through their ad service. Ironically, the same thing happened on the World of Warcraft forums shortly after they implemented banner ads to the official forums. Of course, Blizzard won't admit it, and bans anyone who makes mention of it.

It's most likely a fail in the ad system.

this site doesn't like gold selling ads. To that end, several of them cropped up today and a bit after they vanished.

It's just those gold sellers getting more and more sneaky.

I might be in for some trouble then, but I doubt they banned who highlighted it, but instead those that started with conspiracy theories even AFTER they removed the ad.

Well, just wanted to point out the ad that probably slipped the disease-filter (I know MMORPG.com and any other website that wants to look professional won't let a single ad that breaks the ToS of the very games they cover), staff feel free to delete this thread or something when you read this.

I wouldn't worry, the mods here are much more reasonable than Blizzard's.

As per the reasons for the bannings, they were outright trying to cover up the fact that it even happened. They deleted every single thread that made mention of it, and those who even discussed it civilly on the forums received temporary forum bans, without warning. I was one of those people, unfortunately.

If the ads are for Playspan.com then they are ok.  Playspan is 100% legit and works with game companies to sell currency for games - they do not sell currency on games that forbid it, etc.

If it was something other than playspan, please let me know - we do use some ad networks but we have made it VERY clear that we do not want ads for illegal gold selling or power leveling websites.  If you can give me the link URL and/or screen shot that helps too.

    Thanks!
