well, since before "the devs" were saying that gameplay video will come on next week or two, (it was like 3 weeks ago), my "it is probably scam" probability assessment goes from 70% up to 90%.
Sorry where was this dev post about in a week or 2? I must have missed it.

They opened their web site like 2 weeks ago. So they must have told Benedikt before any of us even knew the game existed.

Benedikt has a point. Prior to the announcement that they'd let the fan's make the videos, both Xsyon and Virtus said Notorious would post videos. From the official forums:
So they promise a bunch of features, post a few screenshots, but wont deliver anymore until people pay for the product. Not quite that hard or time consuming to do something in Fraps if they are that hard up. Honestly releasing a video isn't Hype its just plain smart to do. Basically says here we are not afraid to show our product as is, by not showing it tells me they have nothing to show.
This game comes out of nowhere, hits us with a ton of interesting ideas and a release date. I like the spunk coated in ambiguity. I dont even really mind that there hasn't been a vid posted, due to the fact that i just found out this game existed, and hadn't been tracking it for months only to be disappointed by terrible gameplay vids.
As you can see, Benedikt's timeline was off, but he was right about Notorious saying they'd post videos. Clearly, they've changed their stance. ~Ripper
My main point was that they didnt say the would do it, and its late. Its still not late.
Also yes it does kinda seem like they said the devs would make them and release them, but really they didnt. Sorta just implied.
With Xsyon coming out and saying that devs were not going to make it cleared that up.
IMO if you have doubts, wait the 6 or so days before the video is put out. Then judge then if you wish to preorder or not.

You're arguing semantics. By stating they are more concerned about code than posting videos, they're implicitly saying they'd be the ones producing those videos. Yes, it's implied. So what? They said it and changed their minds. So, we're in the same place we were before. They're soliciting preorders, but are unwilling to provide evidence of their product's existence. All we have are screenshots that look like they were created in a modeler (some of which are the same shot from different angles) and a website.
Forget the video. In their official forum, a registered user asked for a simple screenshot of their UI, which probably takes no more than 10 minutes to make, they don't even want to do that. Their excuse was that they were too busy with coding.
This gives out such a Red flag.
I want this game to be legit. But the more I read, the more suspicious I get...

10 minutes? It wouldnt take more than 30 seconds. print screen (minimize game) > paste on paint > save and upload.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

He does say there are ways to take screen shots and videos from different angles. Maybe this is part of what he is talking about. Im not trying to defend it so much as not say its a scam or that this is proof.
To the 2 above posters. If you were to work on an MMO you would understand that it takes more than 10mins to post a screen shot of the UI, because they have models in places that are just place holders, they look all messed up. They would have to fix those models and make sure its loaded onto the server. This whole time the other devs wouldnt be able to run other coding testing and whatnot. Plus this takes a good bit of time.
They dont want to post crappy screen shots of purple people or something, just because people want to see the UI.
In a few days you will see the UI. If you feel its a scam, wait. If not dont.

If the game was in an alpha state, I'd agree with you. For a game that's allegedly in closed beta (generally the phase in which testers outside of the development team are exposed to the game - clearly not the case with Xsyon), for which they're soliciting and taking preorders and which is supposed to commercially launch in a month, I disagree. At this point, so close to launch, pretty much everything should be "done", with only polish and last minute critical bugs being worked on.
The fact that they're not publishing screenshots of the UI and videos due to being so focused on "last-minute" coding implies the game isn't as launch ready as it should be. Notorious being a small, independent developer isn't an excuse, either. The game is either ready or it's not. If it is, great! Publish actual footage UI screenshots and videos. If it's not, say it's not and push back the released date until it's ready.

Sounds just like the tactic used by the Mortal Online developers. Open up Pre-Orders in mid July for a game that's supposed to ship in Sept to collect cash.. even though they knew the game wasn't going to launch anytime soon...(as a matter of cast it's now mid March and still no launch).

Pretty sure this is a little different. Plan to "release" the game 1 month after saying it will be ready for release is a far cry from what MO is doing wouldnt you say?

Words from devs are still just words. What matters is what we get delivered.
(although these words are sometimes interesting)
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
OMG AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA Best quote i've seen in a LONG time.
I still will need to see player made gameplay video before i get my wallet out.
That really wasn't funny >.>. Plus, he edited that and added it in later.

They should be getting that this week or next week, thats what I am waiting for (that and a video showing the features / gameplay)
No, we should be getting that in the near future. Vid should be within a week or 2, but the game code is more important right now.
Virtus Post 4
Re:Video 6 Days, 11 Hours ago
A video will come out soon. Right now the Devs are more concerned about the coding and tweaking everything for release.
