After reading comments by posters who flame this game. But who have not returned (but claim they did). I have a question for you. The game needs you, honestly. With around 100,000 subscriptions, it will be a nice success and the devs should support what little fan-base it has, because it still can be financially appealing for a small staff. As an inde dev contributor, I'd take 100,000 subs any year. Why is it that some of the TOP MMORPG guilds among multiple MMORPGs have returned to WAR? To give a example "ASCENSION". Which spanned from Dark Age of Camelot to WOW to them coming to WAR? Half of my guildies from www.lobsterbrood.com/ are now in Warhammer! Again, even though newer clans since Daoc or WoW might be considered a representation of a top guild, there is little such thing as a top guild to make a case these days. Every guild and player in those guilds, who are also guildjumpers, for the most part, considers themselves top or worthy. I find it amazing the anti WAR propaganda that spreads on this sites forum. But guess what? The evidence speaks for itself. Progressive guilds do not join a game unless that game is being successful. If the game is not successful they tend to leave. Again, every guild that enjoys a particular game probably considers themselves progressive. Most people play for enjoyment of the game, not have to tough it out through mundane entertainment just to wear a clan tag. I will, as many others be playing WAR for a long time to come. As you should. DAoC is still going with 30-40k subscribers, and just because WAR drops in subs, doesnt make it any less worth the try.
Rofl WAR a successful game thanks for giving me a good laugh, if the games doing so well and so many have come back why is there only 4 servers with no sign of them opening more at best the game has stabilized nothing more than that.
In your world how many severs/subs does it take to make a successful game? WOW numbers? LOTRO numbers? Or maybe if a game makes a reasonable profit its a success?
All I know, is I re-subbed and am loving every second of it so far again. They stabilized the hell out of this game and made it way more fun to play than back when it first started.

Yeah I know it's really good now haha I hope more start subbing and see this too.
Im liking the early levels, but having some friends that already left due to the monotony of scenarios, I'm just preparing for the worst. There are alot of other titles that I have to try having been out of the market for a while.
Striving for Silver Stars since Gold is so effeminate.
I have never once rated a game based on the guilds that play. Also I've played MMOs since The Realm, through all the major MMOs and many less known MMOs over the years that followed and I could not tell you (nor would I even care to be able to) a single guild that has played in more then one MMO.
Who on earth bases the quality of an MMO based off of what guilds play the game?
I base a game off of my experiences in it, I played WAR and it was terrible. It had the worst PvE I've ever seen, the game was boring as hell. PvP was so ridiculously unbalanced and all they did was make one class the next super class while nerfing the previous each time they updated. They looked at how people played PvP classes and instead of allowing people options they "rebalanced" to force people to play their way. They took the only rogue like class and destroyed it because they personally didn't like rogue like classes.
They wouldn't ever admit there were problems with the game, they just kept having interviews saying how amazing and perfect their game was as people left by the hundreds of thousands because it was so terrible.
The game was poorly designed, mismanaged, poorly updated, and terribly planned. That is the reason why there is so much hate around it. It isn't some crazy conspiracy, and just because a couple of guilds that no one actually cares about play a game doesn't suddenly mean it's amazing.
Have I ever returned to the game? No, why would I? There's enough MMOs around, they get one shot and if they fail that first shot then I'm done with them forever. I know I'm far from the only one who thinks this way. It doesn't matter if 2 years down the road every last issue is fixed and they got the balance perfect, they had their shot and I'm done.
I played for a few months, but once I found out end game city sieges were PvE in what was supposed to be a PvP game, I quit. I hear that patch 1.3.5 is supposed to change that. I'm going to keep an eye on that. If it actually does change to PvP endgame city sieges, I'll probably come back and play the game.

I went back a few months or so ago, played for a while and had fun, but left again after about a month. I found t2, t3 just fine, but I was always in the orvr and not doing scenarios. What started bugging me though was people never wanted to fight if there was some resistance and would just do stupid keep swapping.
A few times I was able to get people to push forward and fight the defenders, and it worked out well, but it was a huge hassle getting people to do that. Kind of why I quit. The game was less about killing the enemy and more about getting rps from taking undefended keeps and objectives. I just found it boring.
I would go back to daoc because I could always find action in thidranki, molvik, or NF, but I can't stand the movement in that game anymore, hehe. At least warhammer is smoother in that aspect, just not as good gameplay. Heh, most likely I'll give war another shot several months down the line if I am not playing anything which is a distinct possibility.

You'll see bit more defenses in t4 because people don't want their capital pushed.
Yea, i know, "everythings better in t4..." its an old term, and needs help it will probably never get.
I do understand where you are coming from though, instead of rewarding the realm for RvR, they chose to reward the individual. So like some other games, people are in it for "themselves", and in my opinion, this is where realm pride went out the window, with the nasty dishwater.
As another example, you're seeing some people starting to afk in scenerios since they introduced the weapon rewards. You rarely (if ever) saw this in WAR, but now i see more and more every day.
Of course with adding great rewards to scenerios, if you pug scenerios, you're finding more and more premades. If you are pugging, you could potentially be in a scenerio with a few people in their 30s (level), fighting against premades with realm ranks in the 60s or 70s. The discrepency could really be enormous.
They need to step up and do something either about the pre-made vs pug, or the crazy difference in ranks, and then something about afkers.
A TOP MMORPG guild. Character, Leadership, Longevity, Quality, Performance, Influence, reputation. Those are some characteristics of a Top Notch MMORPG guild. For instance I belong to Lobster Brood. Besides being the first Hordeside as well as server to accomplish many feats, our guild made it a point to share with other guilds both the experiences learned "How to" and maintained a very active proponent in the gaming community. Examples would be guides, walkthroughs or just in general helping others achieve the same goals we set for ourselves. A Top guild helps promote both gameplay and the game itself. As shown many times in the last 10 years by various guilds.
Lobster Brood? The Horde Guild on Thunderhorn? Yea I know you guys, your a "Good" raid guild. But at the same time its not like the Horde is horribly competent on Thunderhorn, (not that the Allaince is either,) so you end up looking like a "Great" guild.
Your not "A TOP MMORPG guild," you are one of the top guilds on the server and argueably the top Horde Guild.
Your good, but not that good. Nowhere near world class thats for sure. I think you SERIOUSLY overestimate yourself, your guild and the impact guilds having on games. They may have a fairly significant impact on the end game players, of their particular server but don't let it go to your head.
I'll be honest here, I likely have a lot more experience with WAR than you. I have played several times at various points during its evolution. That dosen't mean your opinion is any less valid than mine, but it dose mean that I have just as mich right to post my views and opinions, both positive and negative as you do.
WAR is not a paragon of success simply because a few skilled guilds (with ego's the size of a small planetoid) are currently playing it. I'm sorry but if WAR was a success it would have more subcribers, more servers, woulden't have made tier 1 f2p, woulden't be removing broken content left right and center and above all else woulden't have a gutted Dev team that is basically on maintenance mode.
I hope you have fun with WAR but bewarned your entering a game where the endgame is basically static. Once you get to Tier 4 and pop a city thats it as far as maximum level encounters. Due to the gutted development team that is struggling to repair existing problems and add small doses of new content I highly doubt they will be able to add any significant amount of new endgame material.
Well what they could do to increase the game was merging all servers , US, EU , and not keep regions seperated, then you might start seeing more population on the servers.
One thing why i quit playing war is that ive mostly belonged to guilds, clans , corporations with people in different timezones and we have allways had a blast with whatever game we have played.
But comming back to War as a solo player ( EU ) is not something i see a future in since i would become very bored without atleast someone to play with or see in the game.

Im confused, why dont you just join a guild? A oRvR game with premade scenario groups by nature doesnt sound much like a good place for solo players.

Glad to hear it, follow the herd like a lemming much? If "everyone" went to play PONG online would you flock to that too?
I really couldn't are less *who* is playing WAR or has come back. It doesn't change the simple fact that Mythic managed to horribly screw up the lore and feel of a game universe that I and many others loved. No minor gameplay tweaks or bug fixes are going to change that perception for many of us.
Mythic also managed to get the lore and feel of the universe that I and many others love just right. All Warhammer fans do not think alike. Please refrain from using your 'long-time fan status' as evidence of truth when it is simply an opinion you have had for years.
You know, I never knew why people hated this game so much. I actually had fun in beta and at launch. It was an awful mess, but I had a riot. In fact, I play games quite frequently during semester breaks and WAR is the one game I always resub just before I have free time. I do get impatient with the lack of (pve) and the people who shout "This is RVR ONLY" and insist there is no need to tweak pve, but they are everywhere. Honestly one of my favorite things to do is explore and see the zones nooks and crannies...it's a shame there is no reason for it.

My problem with that is the guy who is paying the most, and wants to level up, gets his behind kicked all the way to t4..
Somehow, that just seem like a whole lot more fun, and I would probably have an even less chance of making an alt.
Yes in a way, but remember there would be strong characters on both realms and at least there would be someone there to kick your butt!
I'm not saying this is any sort of ideal solution, I just don't have a better idea.

1. When everyone is busy playing instead of posting on the forums.
2. When only minor issues remain.
3. When players do actually post, they post about how much fun they had instead of criticizing every detail.
4. When the game actually plays as intented.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for a few years!
It's a good alternative to all the pve games out there...
If you dont like the game, fine... move on!

I'll go with this one, I have put in more time to play WAR than I ever did WoW - if that's not an accomplishment I don't know what is.
