Well looks like its between two upcoming mmorpg's. I wonder which will be the winner?

You need to add a Poll. As for my vote? TERA. Blade and Soul is nothing more than a Martial Arts MMO and I don't like Martial Arts MMOs.

when are both of these games set to have an English release?
Tera looks nice, but I'm not a huge fan of the non-existent female armor in MMOs. sure it looks cool, but it's completely ridiculous.
Blade and Soul looks like it could be a lot of fun. I hope B&S plays like Street Fighter and an MMO combined.

as for my vote, i really like tera too as it has the next gen realtime combat and blocking, but i like fighting games and B/S seem to have an emphasis on having fighting game style combat
plus the character designs are the best.. makes western designs look bland and boring, which they often are.

no competition sry Blade and Soul is going to own tera hard, a bigger budget does not make a better game
in all reality tho i dont think either is going to fall i think tera is just going to be the next aion start with big numbers flail later on so it might launch with bigger numbers but I think B&S will prove to stay fresh and fun for quite awhile

I agree with this one.
TERA, mainly because they are trying to westernise it alot more than NCSoft will, well going by Aion anyway.
A few years ago NCsoft was in the process of developing 2 new games: Lineage 3 and Blade & Soul; at the time B&S was merely a side project to L3. Some former employees stole the L3 source code when they left NCsoft.
Bluehole studios purchased the stolen Lineage 3 code and used that code to make TERA (with some modifications).
NCsoft cancels Lineage 3 project and devotes all resources to making Blade & Soul far better than TERA... the result is that in a short amount of time B&S went from being the side project to being the primary project meant to be far better than their original L3 design (which is essentially TERA).
That being said... I am relatively sure that B&S will dominate TERA.
Both titles will have a hard time in the western countries, just like any other hyped MMO made by a korean developer before.
Aion did quiet well after release, but it's loosing subs on a daily basis instead of growing bigger. Same will happen with TERA and B&S.
I've watched and read everything I could find on these two...
The gameplay of Terra looks absolutely horrible.. I mean, nice try, but it just doesn't seem anything fantastic..
I still think it requires no skill, just a better aim and a good ping...
However I do like the bosses, that I find interesting and somewhat creative.. But yet.. Won't know till you in-game to know if it's truly original and captivating fighting... (There is a vid on Youtube of the beta where a warrior like player was fighting a huge boss looking creature.. It looked extremely boring gameplay wise even though graphics were little nicer... Basically, looked like a warrior swinging, then running behind the slow giant, swinging again, repeat... This is innovative?)
Between these two games... I'm putting my money on Blade & Soul by a long shot..
I'm not even going to touch Tera unless maybe it has a free month trial or something...
To be honest, I don't know how much competition there will really be between these games. TERA appears like it will launch long before B+S. TERA has a CBT on the horizon, most likely releasing in 2011, while B+S appears to be a 2012 release from all appearances. IMO people will have played TERA and made up there minds before B+S ever sees release, therefore not really much competition.

A more accurate debate between games would be maybe Star Wars Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, or Tera Online... Think Final Fantasy around the corner as well..
I do also believe that B&S will be a bit longer.. I hope they do perfect it and take their time... Be such a shame cause the game looks excellent and has so much potential and love where they are taking it being a long time kung-fu movie go'er and gamer... I hope they give it a 2D balance style fighting (Tekken3) with a huge 3D explorable and dangerous world. Personally, from what I'm seeing, B&S is my personal choice even over all the games above if they were to weirdly all be released on same day (which won't happen I know, just sayin')...
My only beef with B+S at this point is that I've heard it will be highly instanced. More like GW1 than anything else.

I actually like this video but i want to see ALOT MORE of what started at 1:40 throughout the monster areas. Most of the videos seem to be 1v1 PVE which is sorta worrying me.

I just see the warrior hitting a couple times then running around it before the boss make a move, hitting again.. repeat...

I also saw a pvp vid of party vs. party where it looked like the sorcs and such were attacking slow...

Let you decide... Now B&S, I still am in dark about also... There's only 1 or 2 vids on it... And if anyone played Aion from start and saw the game's launch trailer, then they would know NCSoft is very deceiving with their trailers... They show stuff that isn't even implemented yet or cut scenes and they say it's "in-game" but it's not GAMEPLAY and it's far from how game play actually is...
It's still an OK game but the hype is exaggerated...

Just based on what is available right now, I'd say TERA has a better chance of taking off.
I watched the main trailer that's out for B & S, and that rubbed me entirely the wrong way. I'm talking about the lengthy sequence with the massive beastial "kung fu master" (which seeing would make anyone who actually knows anything about kung fu, or martial arts in general, reel in disgust) giving a ruthlessly brutal beating to a small fragile-looking woman. It takes a very specific type of mindset to watch that and not squirm a little bit, let alone think "wow, this is so cool!" I know that these sorts of scenes may not be the majority of what you'd see when playing, but it doesn't help your advertising at all.
Other than that, the trailer shows lots of DBZ-ish single-player versus mob combat and no real group gameplay, which further serves to draw people with the mentality that they will be the biggest badass or what have you. It's not a mentality conducive to group play and community building.
TERA on the other hand is clearly advertising for a larger (albeit perhaps still rather niche) audience with a wide variety of race and class choices, and the promise of a non-target based combat system, with easy transitions from solo to group. The overall themes and art direction are more light-hearted than B&S and the game already seems fairly accessible for an eastern mmo. It doesn't seem to have any features that would drive westerners who weren't already biased against eastern-developed mmos away that I can see (with what's available).
Ok, so I've watched a lot of B&S videos but I can't find one that has a bestial Kung Fu guys beating up a chick. I don't quite know what you're talking about there but I will say this... The mechanics looks great and the fact that it's so very different to lots of other games out there says that the team building it are trying to be new and innovative. HOW innovative it is remains to be seen, of course, but my optimistic nature has be happy about it.
Now, if I HAVE seen this video (which I don't think I have but I'm sure I would have seen it by now) I doubt my thoughts were "beating up on a chick? GREAT!" but something more along the lines of "This style of combat is not what we're used to seeing in an MMO and I'm glad someone is finally doing it!" or perhaps even "I can't wait to kick that guy's ass!". I'm really looking forward to B&S but not because I'm a sicko who likes beating up women or has some dark fantasy deep inside his head. I like fighting games, Martial Arts movies and I'm a (very low level) student of the philosophy and religious aspects of Asian Martial Arts. I'm a little insulted that you would think that, since I liked the game video, I'm some rapist or something.
ON topic, TERA doesn't seem, to me, to LOOK very interesting/different/arresting. B&S, in both design and gameplay style LOOKS fantastic and relatively unique. TERA looks like it'll be a good, fun fantasy game but will probably only be a third tier (beneath WoW, GW2 and the FFMMO). I can't really compare B&S to those other games since it SEEMS to be quite different.
So, I HOPE B&S "wins" the contest so that there is an enduring presence and continuing updates for it, since I'll playing it regularly. But I don't think TERA will "fail" and I certaintly don't HOPE it will.
Anything that takes subscribers off of WoW is awesome in my books.

And wow, you completely misconstrued my statements. I said that a lot of people would be turned off by scenes like that, and implied that some undesirable people might be drawn to the game too as a result of this advertising. I did not say or imply that anyone who likes the game is a rapist...
When someone says "alot of people would be turned off" and talked about it making you squirm, I felt... I don't know... Judged? Thanks for clearing that up. And yes, I've seen the video... Though I still can't pick the part you mean. The opeing with the little fox chick who summons the... whatever that thing is with her paintbrush? Or Do you mean the Destroyer chopping the gunslinger person?
