Nicely done. I am not going to get into a debate over the details of PvP on those games becuase I have played them. Having said that there is one thing in your post I can not possibly stress enough.

More money and more subscriptions does NOT make it better.

If that was the measurement of better you have to understand that it would mean that American Idol would be the best thing ever put on film and mcdonalds would be considered high quality food. Please never use sales as a measurement of quality.

Frankly I can think of one title quoted there that is better then DFO. I played it. DFO cannot come close to the rvr and epic sieges in the game. Also...it wasnt plagued by a brain dead alignment/race system that absolutely dosnt make sense. DFO has a good core, but the vision the devs had on implimenting it is crap.

to which the reply is always. DF is a pvp/pve game. OR the turn around. DF is a pure PVP game..
its like people try to arugue symantics... DF is either a pvp or a pve game.. there really is no such thing as a middle ground anymore in MMOS. you cant just split it down the middle like you can an FPS and non-FPS
why is it everyone is determaned to declair DF one or the other?? this week alone i have read threads/replies declaring PVP dead/pointless in DF and how PVE is all the game has to offer... then i read replies and threads  declaring the PVE lacking or non-existant...
so which is it?? is Darkfall a PVP game or is it a PVE game?? please make up your minds... so we can put the arguements about it to rest....

Darkfall is both. Seems pretty simple to me.

On an average day, I do both about equally. I'll hunt some mobs, then I'll hear on CA chat that there are reds attacking X city, or headed to Z spawn...and we'll mount up and go kick them off the island.

Sometimes the PVP snowballs, and that's all I end up doing for a few hours....but when It's over, I can relax by killing a few more mobs.

IMO, it's a well-rounded game, giving me enough activities so that I don't get bored or burnt out. Every day is an adventure.

Too bad you won't experience it.

Ok in my view to not spend $1 to find out if you might like a game but instead use your time reading players posts to determine if you want to play a game is the height of pure stupidity or gross inexperience in gaming let alone life.

Agreed, Darkfall isnt a game for the narrow minded. It is what you make it and if you make it a pve grind...then it'll be a pve grind. I've also come to realize that if your not a very social person (aka uses ventrilo) your likely to grow bored pretty quick. From what I've experienced Darfall is very dependant on communicating with others, espeically if your part of a clan

When I told my clan I wanted to go sword and board they laughed at me and kicked me.
If I'm forced to go down a certain path to participate in PvP, I will not enjoy it.

That was silly of your clan. Make sure you laugh at them when they get raped by guys on mounts, using "sword and board".

What happened to you was that you got involved in a group of "FOTM n00bs". They're probably all grinding out fireball and fire intensity as we speak.

There is no "one path that you must follow" in Darkfall....those who think so lack imagination and/or experience. Granted a "sword and board" player will likely have a disadvantage on the ground VS greatswords or polearms (due to reach)....but grab a Battlehorn, and you'd be a pretty devastating force. When you hit these fools for 90 points in the back, they'll stop laughing in a hurry.

In fact, given time and practice, you could probably be quite effective on the ground as well.....Hell I know guys who use daggers in PVP, and do well enough.

Of course not but for christ sake its simple and much better start than reading a bunch of mornic posts from people like myself.

In fact, I am taking a break from DF and going to try out Fallout. How much time did I spend looking into the game? about 2 hours.

hmm seems intresting, free to try, let me try for a few days then decided.

    sweet mother of jesus god!

Also, if you play something for about 20 hours and you dont like it. chances are you need to move on to something else anyway.

    Neo: No.

    Morpheus: Why not?

Neo: Because I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.

Morpheus: I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?

    Neo: Darkfall.

Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?

    Neo: Yes.

Morpheus: Darkfall is chaos. It is all around us. Even now, throughout the world. You can see it when you look out into the countryside or when you step outside of town. You can feel it when you go grinding... when you go to craft... When you buy that useless armor that will be destroyed in a hour. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

    Neo: What truth?

Morpheus: That you are a noob, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into carebearism. Into a prison that you cannot hunt or gank or grief. A prison for your soul.

Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill -- the game ends, you wake up in your basement and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in Darkfall and I show you how deep the I can shove it in.

    (Neo Takes Red-Pill)

Morpheus: Ha! Noob! This is Free-For-All looting!

    (Kills Neo)

Morpheus: Thanks for the loot, Jerk. Should've taken the blue pill. You can't touch my stats!

Name a PvP game where you can level only with PvP.............................

And actually in DF you can partially skill up with PvP ( at 1/3 of PvE rate)

Also Darkfall has never been advertised as a "PvP MMO only" (which is not), but as a PvP MMO (as in "it contains PvP" like AoC, WAR and so on)

The reason why you cannot level just by PvP is pretty simple if you try to use your neurons.

It is called macro skilling and consist in you and one of your guild mate in front of each other for 24 hours with your macro running the fight.

You cannot macro PvE, that's why it is PvE the main way to skill up you PvP.

I hope that makes it clear for you.

You can grind the same instances 5,000,000,000,000 times until you die from puking your guts out in WaR.

It isn't fun but technically it is PvP.

But it is better to legitly (yes, macroing is approved by the company) macroing camps of mobs? Give me a break, DAoC did a very good implementation on Mordred in getting experience from PvP and I don't remember anyone needing to macro off each other because it just wouldn't work too well.. plus it would take an insane amount of time until you are actually worth something. Also Planetside and WAR, and perhaps World Of Warcraft now allow you to solely level up in PvP. EVE can be thought of the same way, because there is absolutely no need to PvE in order to contribute to PvP.

PvE side of Darkfall is required macroing. If you don't do it, then you'll just be left in the dust against the other players. Definitely not casual nor beginning-hardcore friendly.

    WTF have you been smoking?

You apparently think that grinding the same instance 100,000,000,000,000 times in an instanced based game (DAoC, WaR, WoW0 is better than PvE which actually levels you faster in a completely non-instanced game.  EvE?...give me a break.  Subscribe and offline train  for 6 months before you can PvP?  completely different mechanics which are not remotely comparable.

I wont even go into the issues of waiting in line for instances in WaR, WoW, DAoC.  Nor will I go intot he horrendous grind (one of the woorst I ahve ever seen) that DAoC was during its first 6 months.
