Okay, listen....I'm NOT a WoW fangirl by ANY stretch of the imagination, however....THAT....was a silly thing to say. Games that are far more popular, with a much broader base of appeal, have failed to "kill WoW." What on Earth makes you think that DF will do it? I've actually been a pretty staunch supporter of Darkfall, and did play the trial, and found it to be a GORGEOUS game with tremendous depth. Personally...I don't have enough time in my life to invest in the game, what I would feel compelled to invest, in a character in such a deep expansive game. And...I'm FAR FAR from alone. Which is why casual games like WoW, Farmville and Pogo.com....are so popular.
I TOTALLY believe that WoW will gradually become less the behemoth that it is today. It has already leveled out in subscriber numbers over the past two years due to probably about the same number of people quitting as signing up to play. Eventually...that will shift, and less and less and less players will enlist for the WoW "experience," and new games will come (and go) and bit by bit Blizzard will begin to slowly slide from their top spot on the market.
But to proclaim Darkfall as the WoW Killer....sounds really silly, I'm sorry to say. Don't get me wrong...I would think that was HILARIOUS if I saw it happen that way, but....that's NOT how it's going to go down....take MY word on it. LOL
I ran out on one 7 day trial with only playing about 2-4 hrs. My main turn off was the ui and how annoying it was to try to kill goblins while they strafed me, and their dern hit box was so small. Are most of the creatures this annoying to fight, or do they get easier to aim at? I feel I might like it more if killing the most menial things was not a pain in the butt.

Nah they are different target audiences, and darkfall requires a significant time investment from what I understand, whereas any dolt can jump into wow casually, and do ok

Whether people like it or not Darkfall is only going to get more popular and expand and get more content and eventually put WoW on the back burner (when was the last post about WoW you have seen on mmorpg forums? I rarely see them anymore).

You see, I'm glad that Dark Fall survived. And I want it to grow just like Eve grew. Because it offers choice and where I come from choice is good.
However, to even think a game like Dark Fall will bury a game like wow is just not in the realm of possibility.
It's like saying that 12 tone serial music will bury pop music.
It's just not ever going to happen. What? Don't like 12 tone? ok fine. It's like saying that old school blues is going to bury pop music.
Just not going to happen.
But this is ok. Because if there is a devoted following it will survive. And in the end that is a good thing.
