It's your right as a consumer to know the track record and ethics of the comany's you support by buying their games.
Do your research before you buy Star Trek Online, the following links provide insight not only into the state of the game, but the state of Cryptic studios as well.

Now i don't claim to have played or even heard much about STO, but are you saying that it might be unethical behavior to offer a lifetime subscription to a game available only as a preorder? especially when that game receives less than stellar CBT and OBT results? Or perhaps are you suggesting that it might be an effective marketing tool to (hypothetically) over-hype a game in the hopes that initial sales alone will cover the overhead of a game while secretly holding back market research that suggests that your game is likely to not be of the high caliber that people think it is? Because those would be hearsay and rumor and libel! But the facts do seem to speak for themselves. I suppose each people should be responsible for drawing their own conclusions. Trust.

i strongly urge anyone considering this game to get a trial membership before paying for this game.

I see only rabid Star Trek Fans, which I am one, really enjoying this game.
But once the nostalgia wears off you see a poor design that was poorly implemented.
Cryptic/Atari have started doing things poorly with the release of CO. And they seem to be harder at this deception in STO.
It's your nickle, do what you want with it.
But don't complain you weren't warned when you take that plunge into the icy waters that is Cryptic.
It's your responsibility as a consumer to research a product before you buy it, if you buy something because of hype alone then your reap what you sow. There has been plenty of information about STO out there I really don't understand the reason to start such another thread about this topic. This is not really being helpful at best it's just trolling.
