My Opinion of AOC.

Al-right.. We're in 2010 now and there a LOT of good games to play nowadays. Even great MMORG's.. And they release this?

Ok It released in 2008 but come on.. but that even makes it worse. The graphic coders must have done a terrible job on this game. I run MASS EFFECT 2 at almost full graphic visual but this game lags like hell?

And come on, when you enter the game the ground don't even got textures? Some man come up to you and he don't even got a voice? Good introduction to the game.. not.

And then invisible enemies start hitting you.. Eh. That was about it. Nothing made me wanna continue play this piece of crap.

THERE NOT EVEN MUSIC!!

You must have downloaded am early version of PAC man instead of AoC, i don't recognise any of your complaints.

Probably.. I was amazed over the screenshots, but that wasnt my ingame experience :S

It was the trial version, maybe they didnt put texture and sound in it. A great plan to get new players :)

I have never had any of those problems with AoC even before it opened to the masses.  I was amazed in the detail of the game, in fact it was so detailed when I first washed up on shore that I could see acne on my characters back.  The only time I have had issues like you describe, was right before my video card was about to bite the dust.

Okay maybe its my card or computer. But as I said I play Mass Effect 2 without any problems, and that is a beautiful game!

Hmmm only piece of crap I see is your post.  AoC runs fine for me (and looks/plays incredible).

Don't bash a game when the fault is likely on your computer and not the game.

I think by the time you had invisible mobs, no music and no textures, you should have realized something was wrong. Instead of researching the issue, you came here and posted about how bad of a game it was and that all the blame lies completely in the game.

To me it sounds like you either didnt get all the files, or something got corrupted, Try running the repair took to see if there are any files missing. Like any patcher, sometimes it can have issues.

Mass effect 2 is a beautiful game but it's by far not near the best graphically out there, it's beauty comes from the artwork direction. Basing all of this on.. "but i can max ME2" means nothing.

Have you taken a look at the games listed on the game list of this site?

There are some real POS on that list.  I am not sure that AOC is anywhere even close to most of them.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

This is an absolutely absurd forum post.

It either needs to be Renamed or completely Removed.

Age of Conan works smooth as ice on my computer and NONE of these problems are the game's fault. Its entirely the OP's computer causing them.

  • Xondar123Xondar123 Member CommonPosts: 2,543

It sounds like you either have hardware problems, or corrupted game files problems.

I can play Age of Conan on max settings with my computer. I've never had missing textures, never had invisible mobs, never had the voice acting not kick in. In my experience AoC is one of the best looking MMOs out there, if not the best looking MMO and the music is amazing. Hands down the best MMO music I've ever heard. If you don't heard music, you know something is wrong.

I think that you should do some research into your problem before making a knee-jerk post that this game is a piece of crap. I doubt it'd still be around if the problems you experienced were the norm.

Just wondering, what are your PCs specs? Perhaps our experience can help you tweak the game. :)

Playing on DX 10 everything maxed out on Radeon HD 5770 series video card. Check the screen shots in my profile. OP is clearly trolling.

I havn't played AoC in a while but it do look absolutly stunning. My bet is that either you really need to tweak those GFX setting or your GFX card is either crap or not working as it should.

You should probably either have researched the problem or at least asked for help for it here before calling the game a peice of trash.

  • DistopiaDistopia Member EpicPosts: 21,183

As others have suggested run the file diagnostics from the launcher. If that doesn't help update all of your drivers, sound and visual. If that doesn't help, buy a new GFX and sound card.

Its not game thats the problem here its your pc or internet, game runs very well and looks incredible. Granted i have a prety good pc, but i can even run it on my laptop at lowest setting and i dont have the problems u describe. This laptop is not the greatest either, its only got ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570

And like the above poster said, before bashing the game get your facts right first. AOC runs very smoothly.

Tortage (lvl 1 - 20) the starter area is fully voiced for all quest givers including the intro guy on the beach.

It has music, some really nice music actually.

    No invisible MOB's.

    And it is textured.

My rig is on the low end of the min spec's and I run the game on Low Default and with the exception of low FPS I don't have any of the problems you've described.

Either you've managed to pretty much turn everything off / to min in the options area or you got a bad load.

The only point I'll give you, is because of the way the game is coded / uses resources / moon phase or whatever I can't run it on a high setting like I can other MMO's that came out after it.  It's a demanding game and if you're rig isn't up to it there will be things (like Pvp) you should stay away from.

    SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
