PS3 Gameplay

in Final Fantasy XIV

Hi guys, I never played any of the previous Final Fantasy's so I am unaware of how the game play was for PS2 i'm also a college student. Being in college I do not have a decent desktop, just a solid laptop for work and such nothing for gaming. However I do have a PS3 and was wondering if some questions could be answered.

Do the PS3 players and the PC players play on the same server? Are the two versions released at the same time? Are there any major differences about the two? Playing on PS3 do you use the controller, how do you type and stuff or do you use a usb keyboard and usb mouse for controlling...

    Yes. It'll be like Final Fantasy XI (where PS2, Xbox 360, & PC players can all play on the same servers!) There's no word if it'll be released on 360 though. So, just PS3 & PC players on the same server.

    Yep, they should be. Final Fantasy XI had some weird release dates as it released in Japan first and then slowly made its way to North America. I'm willing to bet FFXIV will release on console & PC at the same time but I wouldn't be surprised if Japan gets an earlier release date (Like with XI and XIII).

    You can use the PS3 controller. Keypad or keyboard work like in XI but I don't know if the PS3 version supports playing with a keyboard and mouse. I plan to use a controller with an attached keypad. I use it for PS@Home and sending messages to friends.

    Only difference you will see, is probably graphics.  Later down the road you might see mods for the PC version.

    just noting for you

    1) the game is having a worldwide release on both platforms, so this time no place will be ahead of anyone else. if they do decide on an X360 version, that will be later down the line due to no agreement being confirmed as of yet.

    2) both systems can use BOTH keyboard and mouse or keyboard (or chatpad) and controler. This was a smaller annoucment made during an interview. Though both systems where build slightly different, they both support all forms.
