Is Earthrise in beta?
Closed beta has been going on for a while now. Future stages of beta, including what is known as "open beta" will open up at some point in the future. We are committed to providing the very best game we can to our eager community and look forward to having you join us in a beta stage if possible!

ya Ive been following this game for a very long time now. I remember reading something very recently that gave me the impression that MHS is going to keep a very tight lid on the closed beta. IE. keeping it "friends and family" only combined with in-house.
not a big deal to me seeing as blizzard tends to follow this same model until theyre very close to release. Ive also seen way too many MMO's do the opposite and end up getting some extremely bad publicity prior to the game being completely fleshed out before release
but at any rate, ya I filled out my app a year and 11 days ago
now, the beta status is MHs & Friends only ... but the Beta will be splitted in 3 Parts:
1. MHs & Friends
2. Closed Beta
3. Open Beta
We must wait for Part 2 or 3 of the Beta
This feels like it has been in development forever )=. Can we has yet? ;;

How do I get a bete key? Are sites giving them out or is it just through the Earthrise website?
No sites are giving them out and I highly doubt any will.
It is a closed beta in every sense of the word, the purpose is to test - not easy access to a free trial. The only way to get a key is to be selected after applying on the website.
Only thru the earthrise site as far as I know. I wouldnt expect closed beta keys to come from anyone else. Once gaming sites start having beta key giveaways I would consider that open beta.

Nothing STARTED, so change your dumbass title. Closed beta consisting of their friends and people close to the company has been going on since development, no one outside the company is testing this game.
What Masthead is calling a closed beta has started, it's just not quite what everyone thinks should be called a closed beta (i.e. getting to play for free). I too wish I could get in, but all we can do now is wait to see the game.
Do you know that? Do you have reliable information saying that no one outside the company is testing the game? There is such a thing as QA testers and there is such a thing as an NDA. Like harabeck said that their closed beta is much different then what we are typically used to.
lol APB has an NDA also but it didnt stop info that closed beta keys were released or people posting their luck of being able to participate in said beta and ER is slated to release before APB
Yeah but we are finding out that MHS does stuff different then other companies aren't we? Still my questions are still up. Do you guys know that it is only friends and families? Do you guys have any reliable information saying that the game is not being tested outside of friends, families and by MHS? If not then SHUT UP!

ok, ill give you that. So supposedly CB already happened, and OB was supposed to commence a MONTH AGO. ALthough i've never heard of an MMO having a CB and NO ONE outside the company not knowing that it is happening. If you really believe that MHS is the first company to create a total black-out of typical MMO information, then explain please why they would that?

Because they can. They don't need to hype their game upfront, as they've got...
1.) no competition within the next two years, looking at the list of features
2.) no big gamestudio in their neck, telling them what to do
3.) enough money from private investors to develop their game in silence

yep, as good as joker's response. "Because they can" thats is an awesome buisness motto. I wonder who will give a similar response, im betting on Harabeck, but he is being more neutral and makes more sense.
