PC wont start

Okay so today I received my 500w Apevia power supply. I put in my Gigabyte 512mb 4850 I bought a month back. Well I started to play DA:O on 1280 x 1024 on Max everything. Well a few minute into the game my computer crashed. Now it wont turn on. I tried keaving it unplugged for like 20 min and it doesnt start. I tried resetting cmos and it doesnt work. Ive unplugged everything from the motherboard and it doesnt help. Should I try to remove the cmos battery then putting it back in?

What do you guys think the problem is? When I press the power button, te power supply fan, cpu, case fan turns maybe a few mm then stops.

check and recheck all of the cables leading to and from your power supply.

If the problem isn't there then i may be something to do with your motherboard.  If it is a physical issue then check all your cables leading to and from the motherboard.

If it isn't physical (all the wires are fine) then you may have done damage to the motherboards software.  That i have no idea how to fix.

Haha, well I figured what the problem is.  The power supply that arrived today is dead.  Less then 20 minutes.  This is what happens when I purchase a $39.99 = $19.99 after rebate power suppy.

I'm not going to get another powersupply as I am short on money.  I have less money then my 11 year old brother.  I don't work cause I don't drive yet.  I only have maybe $800 left.  When I setup a whole new computer later on in a year or two i'll just get everything except a video card, then I can just use the 4850 as I checked and it works.

    Thanks for the help

Yeah, even though power supply may feel like the most pointless component to spend money on, it's actually most important one. Many of the cheap PSU brands have much less power than they claim to have and they have higher chance to blow up, which often breaks other more expensive components at the same time. You can find some cheap but quality PSU's too, do some research before you buy a new one.

op!normally there should be some kind of fuse or breaker protection on your psu  check to make sure its not just that even the cheapest will have those try to check online to know where to look for it a psu is  a hard thing to burn way harder then the paltry workout you ve given it .in computer know ledge is power !

Heh, I disagree with the PSU being the most pointless component as well. A bad PSU has the ability to fry the entire computer. The part that gets you though is if you built your own PC and the PSU fries another part, you just voided your warranty on everything the PSU fried.  Its extremely important to pick a decent PSU for whatever wattage you need and if you plan on building or replacing parts in your computers more then once or twice, it is also a good idea to invest in a power supply tester.  In addition getting a bronze/silver/gold certified efficiency PSU could save you some serious money on your electric bill if you run your PC 24/7, as well as cut down on the heat it creates which takes cooling away from the important parts such as the GFX card and CPU.

Can't you return the PSU? Should still be under store warranty.
