Is this game going to be tab target?
If it is I will be a bit pissed tbh. Feel as though tab target is a bit 90's now if you know what I mean. I would prefer a cross hair or point in the general direction to hit someone game play, you know something that takes a bit of co-order-nation.
Cheers

AoC is that way --->
From what we can see, yes, it's similar to WoW.
Well I don't want a twitch system! So nah
I log onto MMOs to relax, not stress out over twitch mechanics, that' what your FPS console games are for go enjoy your MoH games and leave my MMOs alone.

The game is being marketed to a large audience. . I would love to see aiming etc if they can do it right but I would not expect it. You should prepared to be dissapointed. If they were going to do something different from the masses they would have been promoting those changes.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
I don't see an issue with WoWs combat system. If anything that was one of the good parts of the game.
Have we seen a game since with its combat system? the speed? the ability to cast/melee on the fly while running strafing and jumping? Nope.
Lotro,WAR, AoC, Vanguard, EQ2, Aion and the number of f2p games all trying to copy WoW have a slow and clunky combat system in comparison.
So i dont see an issue with TOR having a slick system like WoW.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
There you go. Have fun. Please come back when you are ready to play an RPG.
wow combat is one of the best most polished and fun combat of the entire gaming world in this earth..so if its like wow combat is good..if its like AOC its a piece of crap
I find WoW's combat very easy and boring considering it takes no real skill at all that's why I quit a year ago.
But TOR is definitely going to be tab target button smash.
Oh for goodness sakes, lets not try and make this a FPS. There are lots of games for you to choose from if that is your fancy. This is is supposed to be an MMORPG. And besides, from looking at gameplay videos it isn't going to be anything like that..

Near the end of the video you see a hot chick playing the game. You can clearly see the interface and how it's going to work. This will not be a FPS. Thank goodness for that.
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft
WOW combat system please please pretty please with sugar on top!
Go play Jedi Academy or some CS-like trash please. RPGs are not about skill.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
Thumbs up, sir.
This game will not have FPS gameplay. As much as I would like it, they are going the TAB styled RPG way. Its going to be similar to WoW on steroids. Each class will have an interesting "gimmick" similar to the way WoW and WAR have done their classes. You can already see some of these things prevalent in the gameplay videos, such as the smugglers cover system, or the bounty hunters jetpacking and wide array of weaponry choices.
Of course, most of this is speculation on my part, or highly opinionated, but from watching the videos, you can clearly see, this is no FPS. That would take too much skill to become widely popular. It would also detract from what the original KOTOR games were all about. If you're to see anything in FPS mode, think of space battles or pod races being the only things remotely close to first person in style. Thats if they implement them at all on release.
You know theres nothing wrong with WOW. Blizzard made.. makes how much? It will always for about money first. But it looks like these guys are not rushing this thing out and thats really good! So things could always change. Post there and tell them how you feel. They might listen..
It won't be like WoW in that there is no autoattack, it will be like WoW and most other mmorpg's in that it is more reliant on tactics than twitch.
Some reasons:
1. Twitch in mmo= clusterfuck
2. Twitch in mmo= not so much reliant on strategy but reflexes (favours some players greatly).
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
Precisely, though I disagree with #1. I feel twitch based combat can be done well, and can be highly entertaining. I definitely like it better than spreadsheets and FOTM builds. However, it does favor those that are better at twitch based combat, which would always give some people an unfair advantage.
The way I feel about it, is that they will be creating the combat that Champions Online wished they had gotten right. No slow autoattacks, quick energetic battles, vast areas filled with enemies. A concise level based, multiclassing system. We'll see some good combat out of this game, eventhough it won't be twitch based.
Yeah, definitely not FPS, more like WoW (and most other MMOs). Can't say I'm disappointed, FPS sounds like a good idea, but I don't think any of the MMOs I've played that tried a FPS-type of approach really worked that well (not saying it doesn't exist, just that I didn't think it was better than traditional tab-toolbar in the MMOs I've played).
I would prefer it not be FPS-style. I haven't found a MMO yet that really did FPS-style gameplay well. At least, it's never nearly as fun as playing a real FPS game. It seems to be the popular trend but that doesn't mean Developers in the genre have gotten it worked out.
SWTOR is trying new things with their Flashpoint/Conversation system. I don't mind if they keep the innovations in areas that Bioware knows best rather than experimenting in the area of FPS-style in a MMO.
No, it's likely going to be tab target, and good, I play MMOs for fun, not competition, though it does mix in some times.

This post says it all about today's mmo player mentality...
The game is being made by Bioware, even their CRPGS are target based. It is quite simple really, this will just be MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER KOTOR.
Don't get your hopes up, it is obvious you will be frustrated.

How very wrong that is. Far from just a MM KOTOR.
SWTor with wow combat would be: jump - lightsaber swing - jump - lightsaber swing - jump - lasershot - jump - jump - use the force - jump ...

You sir, do not do your research, this will be a real MMO.
Not like STO or the single player KOTOR games, they stated only 10% of the game world will be instanced.
Go back to playing DFO.

How so? Mass Effect was KOTOR updated and on an original IP. Dragon Age was Mass Effect updated and on an original fantasy IP. What makes you think SWTOR won't just be Dragon Age/Mass Effect 2 on a huge multiplayer server and on KOTOR's universe/timeframe?
Or are you being sarcastic?

Where did you read that? As far as I know, they stated the game will be heavily instanced, else how can they deliver the "strong storytelling unique for each player" they promised?
By the way, the only reason I am posting here and NOT playing DFO is because I am at work and right now I have nothing better to do.
