odd shadow issue

Im haveing a bit of a fus here with the game, when i disable shadow's an odd bit of things happen. One my character becomes transparent when near water meaning water shows through my body makeing me look a ghost and causing rocks to appear though my body. and when i stand near that chick chaind to the tree if i look at the cage what ever part of my body inftont of it appears through it. Now if i put shadows on only myself same thing. But when i turn on shadows for everything it no longer happens. I ould play with shadows for the fact it lags me to the point i cant play. the other thing is with both settings, the fatalities seem to lag and happen after i kill the person like he is laying on the ground. or it starts as soon as he dies but does not show me doing the hole bi to the mob the mob falls and im half through the move. Only one know a fix for these two? please
