Such thing as a server with a good community?

I've been through so many servers looking for a good community, one that doesn't have so many immature kids running around being arses to random people just for the fun of it.

Does anyone know of any good servers to play on if you want a good community?

I used to use the strategy of playing on high-pop realms because I thought people were always going to be around me. Well, they were but I was also flooded with internet tough guys. So, I revised my thinking and decided to play on the faction of a server where they have a lower population or are outnumbered.

Some tips,  1, completely eliminate pvp servers from your search.  2. Don't go to servers like mal'ganis or blackrock where it's all horde, you'll be in high school again. 3. Your best bet is a medium-low pop pve realm with the inferior faction on that server.

    Good Luck.

Actually..   I would rather have a community of kids then what WoW has now..  Yes the kid chat is full of profanity, because we know how cool it is to have more cuss words in one sentence then meaningful words.. Yes the kids talk smack and often on disgusting topics that boggles the mind.  YES, the kids can be impatient and in a hurry, but I see just as many adults being the same way.   HOWEVER, in defense of the kid chat.  I see far less bullshit drama from kids then adults.  Over the 5 years I've played WoW, in various guilds, I see far more drama coming from the adults then minors.  YES, Minors are immature, that is no scientific surprise.  But you adults out there, YOU have no excuse (PERIOD).

In my experience, If you treat the minors with respect, and talk to them as equals, most will surprise you and be great guild and party members.. Adults??  I have never seen them change their ways of backstabbing and cheating others, or being elitist exclusionist that treat the game more like a life (job) then entertainment. We as adults should be setting examples, GOOD ones and not bad examples of how to socially behave..

Kids just wanna have fun..  as do I..   But seeing all the immature adults, it's no wonder that kids follow that behavior making it worse, then they get blamed for it..  SHAME on you adults..

Every server will have kids, and them being quite a vocal bunch will always get them noticed, what you are asking is like asking, "is there a country in the world with only nice people and no crime", well crime is what comes on the news all the time on any country you go to thats the same with the immature kids in wow they are the ones in local and general chat.

You just have to dig deeper and ignore those people to find the nice communities within it, also dunno what do you expect of "good community" its not like your going to login and people are gonna come and stad beside you tell you stories and trade you equipment, in all MMO's everyone is pretty much selfish with a few exceptions to only way to get into a  good community is to interact with people at the individual level and gain their trust in game and continue playing with them,

You will never find a WoW server where the entire population is going to be nice. In fact i think you'll even have a hard time even finding one that the majority is nice. When asked about the WoW community I usually refer to it as full of kiddies that are impatient, rude, elitest, and immature but the truth of the matter is it's also adults acting that way. I find it to be contagious, that sort of behavior, I can't tell you how many times I was sick of seeing all the anal "insert random action" spam going on, but I also can't tell you how many times I became part of the problem when I was bored. The old saying "it just takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch" is pretty appropriate here.

Your best bet will be to look for a "nice" guild to join. There are some out there that are "PG" or even "G" rated guilds. Personally I like my freedom to drop the occasional f-bomb, or let my inner child shine on occasion, but I have accidentally joined a guild or two in my time that do not tolerate childish behavior. Go look into the guild recruitment forums over there. I think that would be your best bet for finding what you are looking for.

Just think of the internet like going hunting. You're on your own with only things you brought with you and you're there just to take care of yourself. Don't let other people convince you into getting yourself in stupid situations.

There's good communities on every server, it's all in the company you keep.

In my experience there's no such thing as a perfectly good-natured community, but there are servers where there are more of what you'd called noticably nicer guilds.

I'm not even talking about the whole community or even individuals themselves, because server communities are mostly about guild management, really. A guild lets its members get away with being jerks, then it'll be a jerk breeding ground. But if you nudge them a bit to be civil, most will. That's because jerkish behaviour begets jerkish behaviour - guilds have to step in and remind people what's important.

I guess what I'm saying is: If you want a good social experience, don't look for a really nice server, look for a really nice guild! :) The way things are, it's quite probable that the whole server will be a better environment because of the guild, because good behaviour is contaigous, too.

I dont understand you people you must just run into the wrong group because when I played I never had one problem with anyone everyone i knew was nice and helped me out all the time. I think the problem is you guys complaining about people being nice because your not yourself.

There is a bit of wishful thinking here, I play the game, I like it and I play with a bunch of people I enjoy playing with, but saying that you wont run into idiots is just false, I run into kids and idiots on a daily basis, specially doing BGs you always get those people that think they know best and everyone else is stupid. Just ignore these people when you encounter them.

Overall I would say WoW has a below average community.  If you were a true newbie and asked a legitimate question in general you're more often than not going to get a smart a** reply.  Not to say that WoW's community is all bad, there are some good people and guilds out there, just that the "idiots" tend to be louder and more noticeable.

Yeah, its funny how people portray wow servers around here.  One would think that the moment you log on you will be assaulted by the "majority" of the playerbase who are rude, mean and immature.

Are there people to avoid, sure.

Are millions of people pugging and having fun together every day.  Yep.

If things were so awful nothing would ever get done outside of solo gameplay.

Everytime I hear these stories of EVERY server being awful and MAJORITY of wow players being awful no matter where they go, I often wonder if the problem is everyone else or just the one person who somehow manages to find problems no matter where they go.

I agree with everything you just said.

Call me negative, but no. No whole servers with great communities. Pockets of good communities on most servers. You have to be proactive or lucky to find them. Sadly the game's mechanics, combined with the lack of rules reinforcement from GMs, as well as just the hugeness of the playerbase, means you'll always run into the idiots now or later. Every server is like that. I moved from a pvp server to Moon Guard and found it alot better though, just don't let Goldshire ruin it for you. It's notorious.

If you're a RPer, or at least prefer a PVE server, I've never had a problem with Wyrmrest Accord. It is a RP server, and they tend to take their RP pretty seriously. You don't have to play "in character", but they do request you respect those who do. That was my last server and as of about 2 months ago, it was the best one I've played on with regard to the community.
