On launch will there be a total wipe of the server?

Like the question says will the server be wiped or will you get to keep your char/gear?

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

No ofc they wont wipe, you get to keep everything you got and made, and on top of all that you get a free catapult siege edition..

No as most other games, they will wipe, its stated many times, and a quick search on the mo forums will show you the same thing.

    This....

However, if they added a catapult, +200 sword of 1337ness and perhaps a few slaves and a bag of cookies- I would sub. =P

Problem is my Catapult would only shoot 5 feet, the slaves would be ugly and old, the sword would break on its first use and the cookies would be strawberry wafers... I would then be pissed and get a refund. =P

You mean real beta testing, or just stress testing - a free gametime for everyone ?
F2P themepark type mmorpgs mostly don't wipe accs.

This is what I was wondering since this is OB which more often than not is just another name for a stress test before live and doesn't always lead to a wipe. But since this is the beta server then I it will happen, was just confirming.

If you are interested in MO, will you play both MO and darkfall? If yes, it wont stop you to play darkfall again because MO is not a grind.

If the grind stand like it was in beta, you will find it really quick. The only grind you get might be on crafting and stats loss as a red player. This is if you plan to play as a red player after you maxed your skills and stats. losing 10% of total stats after death is not a problem at all. If you can still raise your stats when hitting pigs(1st mobs found in game) hitting further mobs can raise your stats much more faster.

Also, the cap is very low so you have to think about what your play style will be before you start. If you did a mistake, just like in UO, you can still toggle decay, raise or pause on each skills and stats. Even your height.

So I get a stat loss on death in MO? Now that is pretty harsh! Although I've seen my stats raise pretty quickly in a few days of me scrambling to learn the game.

As for Darkfall I'll stay subscribed, DFO is kind of a balls to the wall PvP game this is more of an MMORPG. Not that DFO isn't but the nature of the game means there is little ineraction outside of your clan besides PvP. Also since Cairnbears are now turning up to every siege and just turning it into a washout it has become boring.

So I'll play this while I wait for DFO to hot up again, I like the idea of a skill cap (think DF should've had this) since it forces players to decide what they want their char to be.

Are you going to be playing MO?

Yeah blues don't receive stat penalty. Also I'm going to subscribe for three months  and see how it goes, but as I have been here for so long and seen SV I really think that I'm going to be here much longer.

I will stop with the DF vs MO with that post so dont quote back.

LOL, i mean, back then, when you was in the DF mmorpg forum posting often, you always argue with me that a skill cap or stats cap would do DF more bad then good. Then, you wear protecting the game about the stats grind that most ppl whined about. I thought you wear really hooked to DF to keep playing it without the need to switch game /done

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote me from here if you want to.

Im currently in the open beta and i might buy the game at the release day. Its really more addictive then i thought it could be. I soloed since my 1st day and because of the bubble chat(There is no friend list or wisper BTW) I can still interact with anyone i come across and they all respond to me. None of them ignored me i can assure that. Even a simple STFU is what i want to hear to make sure that players around can really listen to me. IT prove that MO sandbox is really alive.

Like i said, MO is not a grind, its a real sandbox game where you can do anything you want. So raising skills and stats can be ridiculously fast. The main reason why(I think) The MO devs often say that they are making MO simply so they can play it themself without the (GM commands lol.) So in my belief, they dont want to make it harsh on themself on the character profile grind. Only risk in MO can be harsh. Like i said, crafting and dying as a red player can be the only grind and harsh part of MO i believe. They also often say that they want to make combat being more about player skills and decision while progressing rather then the total time spent on your character.

If you spend a full week in MO, it will be enough to see by yourself if you like it or not. The rest of the game addiction, your imagination have to take over. Trust me, taking the route of a pker is not that easy. We are talking about real red players in here. Players who will do anything to stay alive even when they are naked.

Real I'll only argue with you on one point, I was for a skill cap (not stat cap) I even asked if there would be one in the Q&A last year that Paragus did with AV (was kind of wishfull thinking). I always believe that a skill cap works best as it creates a place for crafters and all those non PvP orientated players (yeah I didn't say carebears ... ok I just did!). I argued against fast stat gains.

The problem with DFO right now is that one alliance is causing all sieges to become snooze fests, I don't even turn up now as the out come is already defined and it just isn't fun wether you're on the winning side or not. The siege is over in super fast time and you either die in 5 seconds or stand for 5 seconds whilst Cairnbears win the siege for you. So to be honest I'd rather be playing MO until something is sorted out. Not a problem with the developers but the players really.

But yeah the rest you're right man, but I never once slagged down MO as I'd never tried it so you can't accuse me of saying MO was a shit sandwich before taking a bite! Also I've only played a few days so I could be wrong but I do like the alignment system, in DFO you really got little to no punishment for going red if you were in a clan. Whereas in MO there is a hefty punishment, in DFO there was little to no punishment for being an arsehole, whereas in MO there is a nasty sting atleast.

But yeah so far MO has a different more diverse community, I admit it's better than the community in DFO. Not that the people in DFO are bad but the nature of the game promotes paranoia and distrust and back stabbing (which I also enjoy).

I didn't believe MO would be launched until next year at the soonest so never tried it. I tried it out now as there was an OB and liked it alot. If this game launches soon it's sure to get slated and raked over the coals just as Darkfall was but it's the kind of game I like, an open seamless world that's harsh with open full loot pvp. Darkfall is still the greatest game I've played but I'm giving MO a chance and I'm still subed to DFO.

    Kill you later ;)
