I would resub today if there wasn't such a priority on radiance gear. During the time I played trying to find a fellowship to complete the book quests was well nigh impossible - everyone was in the Twenty-First Hall spamming channels looking for groups to get their rad gear, which brought up a most frustrating paradox -- if you didn't have gear no one would want you in their group but (at the time) the only way to get it was to group!
I cancelled my sub last year and have been following LOTRO developments ony sporadically. However, I seem to recall an article mentioning that the book quests are now soloable. O_o

Only the low level book quests are now solo, I think books 1 - 4 are or maybe its 1 - 7 not too sure.

No, all Book 1 (Epic outside Moria) is soloable right now, with the Inspired Greatness buff. And the Epic story is really lovely.
I would re-sub today if they fixed the horrible character animation and done something with the stupid hair styles. Honestly the way it is now is disgusting.
I think over 80% of Gamers in general will agree with you on the animation in LOTRO. It is a game breaking feature that Turbine is simply not adressing at all. I simply do not understand why they dont do something about it - cause it is litterally keeping hundred of thousands of ppl - even millions - from enjoying LOTRO.
The biggest fantasy IP in the world has some of the worst animations seen in any P2P MMO (remember DDO is now F2P). Why ?
My thought is that they just don't have a person who can.
I have always disliked the DDO avatars and my dislike goes to the LOTRO avatars as well.
They have people on staff who just have a certain style or are limited in their abilites.
They recently redid the hobbit running animation. And though I think it's better it's still not great.
I would resub today if they made it so two-handed weapons and cloaks didn't do that thing they do where they go through each other at least let me carry my drawn weapn or something, let hunters wield staves, not let swords and such just stab through the mounts. There's more I've just forgotten it since I haven't played in awhile. But yeah less skirmishes more standard quest content in the future.
There are other games that have clipping issues as well which begs the question "why?"
When i loaded up fable I noticed that all of my gear fit and nothing clipped into anything else. It was an odd sensation as gear in mmorpg's can sometimes clip and sometimes clip badly.
does anyone know the reason?
My guess would be quantity of different shaped/sized weapons, I still don't see why they couldn't try to make it better. How hard would it be to make your toon put your weapons on the side of your mount?
I made a hobbit and the animation is quite good on hobbits, better than I remember.
Now then, I can see lots of changes, all of them, up to now, seem to be for the better.
I have to admit I am actually enjoying myself, it's great.
I'm off to attack the official forum, they still need to do something with Character design and animation. :-)
Glad you re-subbed I did it around 6-8 months ago and still having a blast.... I've found wearing a cloak with a hood helps with the crappy hair styles and hiding the hiddious helms.
Open the Options and choose the Combat Options section.
Scroll down to the bottom and check "Play Optional Combat Animations" and "Allow Combat Animation Blending."
If those options don't improve animations, make sure your FPS isn't so crappy that it makes the entire game choppy. If it's fine and you just don't like the animations period, I can't help you there.
I agree with the hairstyles, to an extent, especially for hobbits. But, really, they have helmets in the game for a reason.
I have no trouble with my fps, I am getting about a million a second. But I cannot find this option you mention.

No, not "options".
go to "Combat Options". They are the last two in the list.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I would resub again if they would add actual content rather than repeatable instances that get boring quickly(skirmishes) and gear gated content that has had the community up in arms since MoM.
Oh wait I'm a lifer, so I'm already subbed.
Ok, well the things I mentioned above would make me a very happy player again.
Overall though, LOTRO is an excellent game and easily one of the best out right now.
Agree. Gear gated content is annoying. The legendary system really annoyed me also. Sooooo much work I put into those things. Sadly I haven't played in nearly a year and really wish I could bring myself to go play it again.

Are there still two versions of the client? high and standard? That might be part of his problem.
I would resub today it they add a team tool finder like WOW and make it easier to get teams for lower level dungeons and other group quests. I am one of those who like to follow the story and i hate to skip missions only because people are more interested in soloing to hit level cap asap.

That I'm not sure.
But I think I read comnitus' post wrong so apologies. It is indeed as he put it "Options" then "combat options" and the last two under combat options.
lol, that's what I get from posting when I just woke up... time to make coffee... hmmm or go back to bed!

I really have no idea where the thing about the animations is coming from and I've heard it more than once. I've played more MMORPGs than any respectable person should have and I think the character/movement animations in LOTRO are some of the best out there. I've never noticed any issues at all with the hair and think that the character creator is one of the better ones except that you can't adjust weight or fine-tune the face(which I learned means little when it comes to telling characters apart).

It's little things.
The hair looks like clay just "plopped" on top of the head. The female run looks like a duck.
The dwarf looks like a waddle.
And in the end there is a stiffness to them.
I just grabbed that image from the net. Not my intention to compare aion and lotro. If I could I'd grab several bad lotro hairstyles just to show.

not really a fair comparsion your talkin a game thats been out for 6 monthd to a 3+ year old engine the lotro/ddo engine is pretty much the old ac2 engine with some added tweaks so its actually 6-7 year old imo it holds up okay.I guess graphics don't mean the world to me and I would rather personally have lotro bad hair/chars than Aion's game play/grindfest.
For me the graphics, especially the environments always looked fine. Yeah, the animations could be better, but I would hardly call it something to not play a game over. I stopped playing because, even though it's not really any fault of the game itself, the LoTRO bestiary isn't terribly robust, and I spent 40lvls killing nothing but bandits, wolves and spiders. Oh and orcs. I can't even count the orcs.
I'd re-sub if they take hobbits out, I hate hobbits! I hate their lore, their look, I hate everything about them to the point they give me a bloody headache

Well, to be fair, it's kind of ignorant to buy a game based on LoTR without realizing that there's going to be a LOT of orc-killing going on. I feel your pain though, I've easily killed as many wargs/wolves/bears/spiders and their variants as I have orcs/goblins/uruks. A little more enemy variety would do wonders for this game, although it's not nearly as bland as many others I've played.
Oh, and also trolls/olog-hai. Killed a ton of those too. And the 10,000 variants of crebain.

Well obviously there was going to be lots of orc killing. My problem was more or less the entire game revolved around the same four or five monster types, and there was little variation between them. Half the time it was just a pallet swap and you went from fighting red spiders to black ones *gasp!* Like I said, I can't really fault the game as it's staying true to the lore it's based on, but the lack of mob variety wears on you quickly /=. It's really the addition of novel features and features besides "kill x and raid for gear" that make the game remain interesting. I just couldn't stick with it for a number of reasons, looking back on it, the mob variety is the one that just sticks out for me.
I would resubscribe if they improved their Customer Service. As it stands, it seems they have a very very(2 weeks) slow response time to general out of game issues(account, technical). I had a grievence with them over an account issue and it never did get resolved to my satisfaction, no apologies or refunds.
As well, in game CSR's are next to useless, when our kinship had problems in some of the instances it would take hours for them to arrive and even then it was "sorry we can't help you, it's againts our policy". It would be nice to know what those policies are/were. Perhaps there is a link somewhere as to what their policies are or what the ingame CSR's can and can't do but I neved did get a straight answer.
Otherwise it is a great game, too bad the Customer Service is next to nil.
I miss the game but will not be returning, sometimes the only way to influence a company is with your wallet and I refuse to spend anymore money or time on Turbine.

Still I feel the LOTRO hair (the above example is one of the good hair designs in my opinion) could look better. Some of them really do look like a blob.
