Just curious what platform people will be playing FFIV on and why.  I myself am torn between the 2. What will you choose ?

    Both. :)

Idk, can you do that? I didn't play XI, but I'm pretty stoked about this one.

    Short answer: Yes

Question: Will PS3 beta testers and PC beta testers play on the same Worlds during the beta?

Answer: We have no particular plans to separate by version. However, as the testing periods will be different, some Worlds might have more people playing on one particular platform than another. We do plan on making things like FFXI where you can log in with the same account from any platform.

Of course, this means buying a copy for each platform you want to use.

if its anything like FFXI then the PC version will probably look better, though personally i wouldnt expect there to be much difference in the newest version, maybe after a few expansions, as its a game i will be buying myself (PC version) i'd say go with the PC because the keyboard/mouse controls are imo, far more intuitive, though again thats personal preference, some do find that controllers are easier to use... the other benefit of course is that if you have the PC version you dont have to fight over the TV to play the game or watch Emmerdale

Interesting. I wonder if I buy both versions if I would get 2 months free playtime.

I plan to get the PS3 version first and foremost anyways. My PS3 + 32'' HDTV is a much better setup than my PC. I'm also playing XIII on my PS3 so it just seems appropriate to have XIV on it as well

PS3 version only if it comes in 3D-otherwise PC most likely-depends on how the game controls are for both versions.

I just bought a PS3 and will attempt to play on that, however i really can't stand consoles. The problem for me is i can't seem to handle staring at a PC screen for long, gives me headaches,so i hope i can handle the console version.

Also i was always envious of friends who could sit on the couch and relax while i am cramped up in a PC chair.I know the joystick/console won't be as good, but i am pretty much going that route for comfort reasons.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Also, FFXI and XIV support mouse & keyboard on the PS3. So if you can go that route if you have a comfortable way to sit with a keyboard and mouse.

on a serious note, if you are getting headaches after looking at PC's for any length of time, then it might be a good idea to visit an opticians and have an eye test, these are usualy far more comprehensive than those you can get from visiting a doctor and can often detect problems affecting your eyesight (regardless of whether long or shortsighted or not) .. .. where i work its company policy to have eyesight tests for those who use computers for any length of time.

I think the whole issue with me with the console is that voice communication part. If FFXIV has some sort of voice communication then I'll be playing on the PS3.

Are you sure you'd need to buy a copy on each platform? Usually, MMOs have a validation key bound to your account, allowing you to download the client on any machine you want. Unless they force you to purchase a key for each platform, I don't think you'd need to buy a PS3 and a PC copy.

its quite likely as most MMO's these days have some kind of voice comms capability, havent looked into it myself as tend to use Vent or TS3 anyway..

PC for sure.  Playing FFXI on PS2 was great to start with but once I was able to move over to PC the game became 10x easier to play and enjoy.

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

Both for sure.  I have a theater room with PS3 setup so I will hit that up whenever I can because of the 101" HD screen and comfortable theater chairs with surround sound.  :D

There are times though when i'm stuck at my desk and can either play on my gaming pc or just semi afk craft/run a store/etc.  So yeah both.  I would probably pick up collectors editions of each if I could.

The PC version will probably be $10 cheaper as most multiplatform games. Also, I think (might be wrong but don't think so) that the average age of PC gamers is higher than console gamers. For those 2 reasons I'll probably get it for the PC.

You'd still be playing w/ PS3 players... do you just not want to be associated?

oh really? didn't know that. Oh well, the PC version will probably still be $10 cheaper (now if you come and say they're the same price, you'll have me actually think about which one to get)

PC. I sold all my consoles. Too used to playing games nice and upclose, I guess.

  • RajenRajen Member Posts: 689

I'll probably be getting it for both.

PS3 will be nice for the big screen HD, PC will be nice for when my lady wants to watch TV shows I hate :P

If I get it... it will be on the PC.

Problem is if there isn't anything to do solo, when I can't/don't want to find a group, like FFXI I won't touch it at all.

Only played FFXI for 3 months, and left with nothing be hate for the game, because I couldn't do anything without a group...

I'd sit online grinding on green con mobs, for 3 hours... looking for a group, give up looking, then someone shoot me a tell, but then it was to late.

9am to 1pm EST wasn't a good time to play back in 2003 I guess...

Did have some fun when I did get a group, but camping a spot got old, fast.

    Anyway just venting...

PS3. What I love about consoles, is their biggest advantage over PC gaming which is no compability issues. No need to upgrade hardware. Besides, Sofa+LCD HDTV = Win.

If I decide to play... PS3
