With every topic seeming to be about either the downfall of mmos or how they are to easy, I thought I would try to mix things up. Simply list your favorite(s) zone, region, area, city, or whatever.
For me its Jeuno from FFXI. For some reason I just loved going to that city, even though I would have to sit there awhile. The music, the artwork, all of the players, and even the npcs gave it a great feel. Kazham also deserves a mention because I just loved the jungle maze in the areas around it. Without a map it was easy to get lost and it felt like a real jungle. Wintersping from WoW also had a nice feel to it. The twilight feel mix with all the snow and ice looked and still looks great.

Restuss before it was destroyed.
WellIl i dont really have a favorite area in any game, but i absolutely love areas similar to the Grizzly Hills in WoW.
The tall evergreen tree-y areas, but with not a lot of brush, my favorite lumber-jack type area
Netherstorm back in TBC WoW. I loved the overall epic feel of the area. That, and the sweetness of being so close to 70
I also agree Jeuno was probably my favorite area in FFXI. It felt like it meant something to finally be there, like you were less of a noob :P
Oh yeah! Grizzly Hills was awesome too. Usually I mute the in-game music and listen to my own music while playing, but every time I got to Grizzly Hills I would actually listen to the ingame music for the area. So good.
That is true. I remember when the 360 hit all the vets "ran to Jeuno" to avoid the noob rush. Even running there the first time was an adventure by itself.
There is nothing like exploring the Southern Shiverpeaks of Guild Wars. The music plus the atmosphere is quite lovely!
the Grizzly Hills music is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I'd say my favourite area would probably be Kaineng Center, not the instanced parts of the city, but the main city itself. I just love the architecture of the place. It really makes me feel as if I stepped into ancient China or something. I love the ambiance of the place, and the music is really beautiful as well. The colour scheme was lovely as well, and like most capital cities, you really don't notice any squallor or poverty until you see the city's outskirts, so yes, there is a sense of realism there as well.
I admit that I have yet to actually see the Emperor's palace, but from what I can see from the city, it promises to be really beautiful.
