I feel ripped.. this game is boring. I've been playing since the release and I'm not likin it so far. I feel like sony owes me a dern refund. The graphics look great but, that's about it. Way to go sony, you never fail to disappoint me, although you do make kick ass home electronics.

Even if I will stop to play in 1 month, I dont think we are ripped.

EQ2 is well worth the $.

SoE is about mostly right and fine, it is just that the part they miss is pretty bad.

Verant under evil scrutiny of Sony bumping here and there and placing Vetos and that type of bullshit was more successfull then Verant or Sony alone.

If raiding would not have be both an economic way to keep players busy and part of the vision, it would have been tempered much better and the game would have been MUCH greater.

SoE have no vision and the few peoples in the team that does are not listened or talking enought.  Verant have no marketing sense and they are blinds to many realities.

Buying EQ2 is undoubtfully a better investment then WoW IMO, and WoW will still be a very nice investment!

Well you can play it for a month to get your moneys worth I guess. I mean, that's about how long most console games last you. The game can be monotonous at times, but it is MUCH faster paced than EQ1.
Overall it isn't a bad game. I guess it's just personal taste. Sorry you aren't enjoying the game. ::::21::

Boring?  We must not be playing the same game.  There is a huge variety of mobs and environments if you are into adventuring.  If you like quests, it is now truly everQUEST, but the quests are nicely intergrated into adventure play.  If you want to craft, you have a very complex system that at least so far is useful if not necessary to adventurers so it actually makes money.  My only problem is there isn't enough hours in the day, and the game is so popular the population of servers is causing server crashes.

If you are bored with this game, I'm not sure what would hold your interest, but good luck finding one that will.  I think most who try it will really enjoy it if they get the server problems worked out.

Umm we must be playing different games!!  I've been playing the game for 2 weeks now (last week of beta) and imn still finding new places, new quests, seeing new things. I've been all over the map of Antonica and once i get into the Shattered Vale I've seen all of antonica.  Im lvel 18 about to start my Ranger Subclass quest and Im far from bored.  There's always something to do and once you get past lvl 10 the quests actually be come worth some of the time yo uspend looking for the npc.  I've done 160+ quests and I know there's atleast 40 more out there I haven't gotten yet, but I will get them! Barely anyone is over the lvl of 20 but those that are are few in numbers and can't travel to far from their main areas.  This leaves alot to be explored.   If you're bored with the game then maybe you need to learn how to enjoy the world a little bit more.  The game is about adventure, raids, and have a damn good time finding out lore. (course a few of those lore quests are a pain in the ass to finish)

Im not saying your opinion is crap, Im just trying to figure out what your up too that leaves you bored.

As for Sony / verant, there is NO VERANT involvement in this game.  Infact Verant kinda went into just being under the Sony name completely after they bought Everquest years ago.  Sony does have a vision, their developers are top notch and they've made saved the Everquest Name after Verant almost killed the game from the get go.  Infact if i remember everything we hate about Everquest 1 is made up for in 2.

I am in the "disapointed" camp myself.    I don't find the game very intuitive.   I found the lvl 10 Quest maddening.   I spent 3 hours looking for the gaurd "at the southern most gate on the eastern side" of Antonica, dieing twice.   I didn't enjoy the quest, I did it as a chore.

I gather, mine, trap and all the stuff I get I have no idea if I should destroy it or take up precious slots in my bank (much has no value).   If I could place them in my house, I would just collect it (as you could in Ultima Online).   I have read the manual but still feel in the dark on many things.   I shout out questions and get yelled at for shouting.

I feel the detail oriented will love this game, and it is a noble effort.  I am very impressed with the graphics and smooth launch.     I will most likely give WOW a try, with lowered expectations, but I think the genre in general is getting pretty stale.

I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round.

SO u don't like it because YOU can't figure it out? That's not a good enough reason to bad mouth the game. There's a wealth of info on thenet: maps, quest descriptions, etc.
Besides, what fun would the game be if you hand your hand held for everything like WoW?

This game is GREAT. The grfx are amazing and will continue to get better, the combat is fast and intuitive, the world is big with lots of things to do. Monotneaous? are you serious? Have you looked at the other mmorpgs out there? Same thing dude. Quest, kill monsters, crafting, etc. What else is there to add???

There is definetly more to do in the game than WoW. Don't get me wrong, I liked WoW, but after play testing both I decided on EQ2 because there is just more to do. And like I said, the game will continue to LOOK better as time goes by, whereas WoW will not change visually. How can it?

Maybe you should RESEARCH something before you spend the money on it; especially if you're not sure about your purchase. Last 50 bones I wasted went to Fable: I wont be making those mistakes anymore, from now on I read about a game and investigate it before spending my hard earned cash.

I think playing city of heroes messed up my view of fast paced. In city of heroes you can jump right into the action pretty much and the interface makes total since. you never have people wondering how you do something, and when you do it is quickly resolved. My biggest issue was finding groups.. It's just like eq1 where it's semi difficult to find a group.. The quests... yeah there are ALOT of them, in fact WAY too many... jesus christ - every npc I talk to has a "go here go there deliver this note bring me this stuff... Hell I don't wanna be a dam gopher, I wanna roam the lands and see neat stuff.... so far I've seen gnolls and bugs and snakes and just a bunch of gayness. I will take you guys advice and play through tonight.. Lets see what happens.

no duh, I researched the hell outta this game ya goob. Way to assume I didn't. Anyway I'm not gonna flame you for that ridiculous assumption. I was expecting something more fun, not a quest overloading time sync...BUT, like I say, I will give it another go as soon as I stop posting these responses to ridiculous assumptions. BUT , I have to agree with you on fable.. what a waste o' money that was.. Mainly I didn't appreciate all the gayness - LITERALLY a bunch o' dam gays running all around , hell one of the beginning boasts is "hey I can kill em all nekkid" - um... ooook a lil nekkid boy running around trying to kill stuff...gay.. I took this crap title back asap...

ps this wasn't meant to be a flame, I wasn't trying to offend, I just think it's wrong to assume I didn't do my homework on this one. It looked great and I was hoping for greatness because when eq1 came out - oh hell I was MEGA hooked... I mean in love with the game! but, a played a ranger (thanks to a crappy friend o' mine who loves rangers) - after years of play I found out finally that rangers suck untill they get hundreds of aa points... Well.. that's freakin weak... anyway enuff o' my rantin' ..

You're in the boat more and more people are going into Mentat. I hope this is a warning to everyone out there looking to make an MMORPG purchase.. don't buy an MMORPG that doesn't have an open beta, any sort of trial event, or free trial offer. Words to play by.

I def. wouldn't go by that advice. I personally hate the idea of free betas....beta is suppose to be closed with people who know what they're doing finding and reporting bugs.

Plus, open betas is a relatively new concept and it seems the more popular way of getting into a "free beta" is to pay a subsrciption fee to Fileplanet.

lol didn't mean to hijack the thread, but to the original poster

Yes, EQ2 is def. way different than CoH in terms of action. However, it all boils down to taste.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

    Black Dragon:

You are just going to have to accept the fact that some people won't like your beloved game.

I have played Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Eve, Horizons, Asheron's call 2, Earth and Beyond, Lineage II and City of Hero's.

I am tired of killing rats.   Simple as that.

If Eq2 had been the first mmorpg that I had played, I am sure I would be smitten.   But it has a "samey" feel to it.   I fear I am bored with the whole genre.

You have permission to like the game Black Dragon.   Feel free to explain to everyone why you like it.   Just don't try to explain to everyone why I don't.

I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round.

You could be wrong here. I gave WoW a shot in Stress Test, Open Beta, and it is NOT just like any other MMORPG. There is lot of content, all of it layed out in an intuitive and very interesting way. That's what I found was missing from EQ2. That, and the variety of starting zones, which was good in EQLive, but is now gone with EQ2. In WoW though, you can get that feeling renewed, as the starting zones don't look generic.
