The main problem is that lots and lots of players sooner or later simply come to the conclusion that raising stats to some optimum level is indeed the only real goal in this game. Saying that the players are doing it wrong won't cut it anymore. The situation is similar to some anarchy-wanna-be society where supposedly everything is allowed, yet people always tend towards some centripetal establishment with monolithic goals.
Unfortunately, sandbox in DFO is merely a smoke-screen for "raising stats to the best of one's abilities". I tried doing other stuff, I really did, but as soon as I saw a message "Your mastery of crouching has increased"... well, that's that - the goal of the game is basically FORCED upon you at every turn, even if you CROCH or catch FISH.

Your conclusions are your own, they are not necessarily shared by everyone else. If I had been monitoring my stats compulsively from when I started back in October, maybe the supposed grind would have gotten to me. I very much doubt it though.
There's so much more to Darkfall than stats, but if that's your main focus especially from start, then I can only imagine how dull the game was for you.
Good luck in your MMO hunt, you're gonna need it

Honestly? Yes I would cut back and go to the gym because that would freak me out, but then again I've always been very weight conscious about that stuff!!! Luckily I don't have that problem but I suppose there comes a day when we all usually do...By the way your avatar is adorable
Playing any MMO 12-15 hours per day - are you independently wealthy / on disability / unemployed / retired - any of those would afford you the chance to do something other than play DFO all day. You're kids watch you and see that you play an MMO all day? Is that really the legacy your aiming to leave them?
Eatting a lot of fried chicken/cheetos/kool aid - do you see a problem here that just maybe contributes to your health problems?
Working out if you can meet your game goals based on how much weight you are willing to gain over the course of a year? Do you see a problem here?
Your wife has to ask you to take out the garbage and shower - do you see an issue there?
If your post is real it screams major life issues that anyone in a friendly community like this one would be remiss not to warn you about. There is an alarming problem with almost everything you posted and when you can PvP in DFO should be the least of your issues, in my humble opinion. I cannot think of any life situation that would make your habits ok. I can't wait to hear though.
"Good luck in your MMO hunt, you're gonna need it "
Erm, what good luck? Did you read what I wrote? I said I tried DFO as my off-MMO where I would do something fun and exciting when I'm not raiding in WoW (4-5 days a week). It didn't work out, the situation would have to be entirely reversed - DFO as my main and WoW as my off-MMO.
Saddest thing of all is that I find more variety to do in WoW than in DFO, and the latter claims to be a sandbox.
Oh, and btw, the statement about DFO having in the end a monolithic goal to raising stats to optimum level isn't exactly my conclusion alone, so please spare me the stupid argument how my judgement is entirely subjective and relates to my "problems" only. Many players feel the same way and only a blind fanboy would deny so many outrages pertaining to this both in game and on forums on a daily basis.
Thanks. I really mean it. Whenever I read your posts, I feel like playing DarkFall. I tried before, but my computer back then couldn't handle it somehow. Now that I got a new computer, I might give it another shoot.
Well, meet you while swimming! (Pray for me that I won't be obese before I can pk you hehe).

Monolithic your word for the day?
Yes Sherlock many people don't like this kind of game, everyone has known for years that this is a title for a small niche of players. The incessant whining about never catching up that I've endured on forums for both Darkfall and EVE is insane. Why do so many people throw away their online time bitching about games they don't like and not discussing the ones that they do?
Also what a shocker that you can find more variety in the world's biggest themepark MMO ever created (which is 6 years old) compared to a relatively miniscule MMO barely over a year old.

Wow ok this is gettign a bit crazy. I dont see why your ashing the guy he is just pointing out that DF has made him see that he is packing on pounds. I see where he could eat better but no need to bash him. But then again 100% of trolls and bashers are fat so in all honesty you guys have little room to talk.. But then again thats all mmorpg.com really is a trolls den.

Well, this "guy" posts a new thread every few days designed to start trouble here. It usually goes on for a while, gets locked, and then he posts another.
It's obvious "trolling". Many of us are sick of it.
Thats a metric fuck ton of weight to gain. Darkfall isnt your problem. Your eating habits are and lack of excercise.
That being said, I too have gained a few pounds, Jesus Christ we are getting older. I do p90x while I harvest.
LOL! Yeah I do P90X now too. At 32 you gotta do some things to stay fit. That being said, aside from my pants being above a 32 for the first time in my life, not being able to do 20 pull ups was like a sign. I was really quite pissed off at myself!

If it is obvious trolling why do you keep posting in his threads? And why do so many people agree with what he is saying? And by "many" do you mean the same 2 people? I've acually lost weight since I started playing darkfall because I learned about the game early. Since most of darkfall besides killing mobs consists of the game playing itself I have actually found more free time while playing. Since I am casual this only gives me 4-5 hours per day while darkfall plays itself unlike the OP's 12-15 hours which is pretty ridiculous. I've lost about 6 pounds since I started playing about 3 weeks ago and I've lost a total of about 20 pounds over the past 2 months. Thankfully I found an MMO that plays itself otherwise I would not be able to keep this up.

My quest to PVP in this game has taken more dedication than any other mmo I have played. It has become an internal competition with external weight gain as one of many consequences. Yesterday, I purchased a Star Trek Online game card and told the teller that I have been playing Star Trek Online while my character swims into a rock on Darkfall. Infront of three other customers he said "You have been swimming into a rock for over a month and you are paying $15 a month". The three customers looked at me weird and I told them all that Darkfall is the single hardest game of participating in nothing that I have ever watched play itself. They all told me I should quit because of my own personal health risks but I told them that they should give the $1 trial a try.
Thanks. I really mean it. Whenever I read your posts, I feel like playing DarkFall. I tried before, but my computer back then couldn't handle it somehow. Now that I got a new computer, I might give it another shoot.

Each one of my posts are designed to get players to try Darkfall. I'm glad you have received the correct message and I hope you have a good time in-game.
You've JUST noticed how fat you've gotten? It doesn't happen over night, how the heck did you gain that much and not release your pants were getting that tight. Damn, haha. It's kind of funny, but I guess I can relate, I was a runner and in shape and then the cold hit and I just played online games all the time, I'm not nearly as fit as I'd wish to be. Anyway, good luck with the whole, fried chicken and 15 hour gameplay
Mmoluva is a troll. Obvious one at that. Every single post has been bitching about darkfall, then they always respond with "But I enjoy killing 4000950474590347 mobs because its what I do in games" to get obvious reactions out of people.

yeah, we know. There are a couple others here who keep getting banned and making new accounts just to troll as well. Such is the way of the Darkfall forum, apparently.
I game standing up, this serves two purposes, It leaves me active and in stead motion. The second is you can't pull 16 hours straight on your feet lolol it forces you to do other things as well. I am 39 this month (dang it) 6 foot and 210lb.
I use a 2wo post server rack there pretty cheap to get. I have one tray for my Gaming G13 gaming pad and mouse a tray for my egro keyboard. there set for my height. I did this to support a friend who had a Prostate problem and the doctor said dammit boy get off your ass, your a I.T guy then you go home and sit more at the computer. I won't lie I almost caved a few times as my feet were killing me but I started to were indoors running shoes and that made all the differents. Now I would never game at home without standing up. and my daughter and son will do the same. as it will keep them off the computer somewhat.
