I've already spent too much on MMORPGs this year but am downloading the global agenda trial when I know I shouldn't be! My question is that since I like MMORPGs and shooters is this worth subscribing to? The thing is I like PvP in shooters but I like open seamless worlds in MMORPGs. Which elements from MMORPGs does this game take that would justify a subscription and is it worth it and why?
I know that it's all highly opinion based and there's not cut and dry way of answering it so some opinions of subscribers and a desription of the enviroment once subscribed would be appreciated.
It seems after 3 years of spending little on MMORPGs this year is going to leave me shit broke! I think I'll have to send my son to get a job in football factory in Pakistan!!!!

Well, you dont have to subscribe. For one right now all a sub gets you is agency vs agency conquest mode which is pretty limited, and two the subscriptions havent actually started yet as Hirez are holding it off until theres more content.
I dont think what they are offering is worthy of a subscription myself. Come end of April there will be large open zones for pve and pvp, depending on the fun and quality of those the sub may be worth it at that stage but until then, id have to say no.
Elements this game takes from MMOs is basically character progression and persistancy, your character is not reset at the end of a round and is not a carbon copy of everyone else. You have talent trees and upgrades and come 1.3 specialization weapons, statted armour etc.
Its a fun game but its far too repetitive at the moment and this has lead the playerbase to drop drastically over the last month as people are either leaving outright or holding on for 1.3. The gameplay itself is fun and solid, so dont let people put you off on that aspect; what global agenda needs is more basic content.
Let me make this real simple for you.
There is only one option for you as far something that combines what you consider a real MMORPG and shooter mechanics, that game is Fallen Earth.
Global Agenda is more of a match play PvP/ coop PvE shooter with a "campaign" and perhaps some minor MMORPG aspects to it.
If you want to play alot of PvP GA is better. If you want well balanced PvP GA is better. If you want open world PvP with the entire melieu of an MMORPG affecting your performance you gotta play Fallen Earth.
Or to put it another way
GA = free infinite respecs to play any build you want when you want for your class.
FE = No classes and no respecs at all ever. If you madee a gimp build and suck in PvP tough shit, re-roll.
Edit: Also IMO the shooter interface/mechanics for GA is considerably better than FE. This is likely to be true for anything that attempts to make a seamelss MMO with shooter mechanics versus an instanced game like GA for quite sometime into the future.
Well I bought the game, it reminded me a bit of TR being a third person shooter but GA does the combat better. They describe it as an FPS with MMO elements but not an MMOFPS, I'm not sure how to pigeon hole it exactly but I will say it's a fun game to play and you can play casualy. Also from what I've read on conquest mode you can easily schedule your PvP rather than waking up in the morning to find you were WTF PWNED by some ninjas in the night.
I'm still working out if my VOIP doesn't work or it's just that no one else is using it but we'll see, so far it's a fun game and worth the money.

Most common issue is people not realizing there are 2 different VOIP keys. By default, the C key only talks to people in your team. Remember when you're in a pvp match or pve mission, the people you're randomly in the match with are not in your team. You need to use V to talk to them.
If you form a team outside of a match / mission, and queue together, you can talk only to one another using C. That way you can talk about what a choad the idiots you're playing with in the match are w/o having to type it. hehe.
To make this easier, I mapped my team VOIP key to the tilde. That way I never accidentally talk to my team instead of the match, or vice versa.
