LF player feedback

abstraktabstrakt Member Posts: 8

Well I have decided to give a different MMO a shot. I am currently a WoW player & have dabled in EVE in the past. I'm looking to get into another fantasy based MMO, although I really feel the need for one with a sci-fi theme to it, there seem to be a relatively large pack of them on the horizon in the next year or so.

The 2 games that seem to have sparked my interest the most are AoC & LotR. I have played LotR briefly when they had either a free trial or the beta test hype machine way back in the early days of that game. I seem to remember it having quite alot in common with WoW at the time except for the fact that it was one of the most visually appeasing games I have tried. I have had zero experience with AoC except for a few former WoW guildies saying how much they enjoyed it.

They both seem to capture the worlds they are set in very well visually, but I am looking for feedback from players more along the lines of gameplay, the social aspect inside the game (ie. Should I not expect to run into other players until quite a ways into the game?), & mostly content.

Anything anyone may have to offer, positive or negative, would be helpful.

You could try Fallen Earth for something sci-fi-ish.  I never played so can't really say for sure.

I just started AoC today and well the combat is different :P.  Like I think I need to keybind my keyboard in a way that I can spam the skills fast enough to actually make them useful.

I have no experience with LotR.  I hear it's great if you never want to pvp.

I've dabbled a lot in the least year. Here's the very short version of my travels:

Eve - I get why people love it. But too slow for me for the most part. Kinda gets repetitive

Darkfall- Awesome idea. Graphics/animations/sound are terrible. Too much of a one trick pony for me.

Warhammer - Was fun for awhile, but open RvR rarely really happened and even slowed down my beast of a system.

AoC - Most beautiful game ever. No endgame content (when I played)

LotRO - Trying now. Looks 'good', runs well. Holding my interest for the 3 days I have played. Can get the game plus all expansions and 30 days gametime for $10 right now.

Allods Online/Runes of Magic - Decent F2P games. too much like WoW for me.

Aion - My greatest disappointment. The grind was mindnumbingly dull to me and for whatever reason there seemed to be less huge battles and more one side crushing the other in different areas. Definitely curious about that Aion future patch.

I'm skipping a couple I am sure. But I think my opinion matches most in general. Give LotRO online a shot since u can get everything for $10. Thats a heck of a deal.
