lol, I wonder what the excuse will be after launch? "Soft" launch like Alganon? "They are an indie company"?
But agree with what someone said above: As long as they ban these cheaters after release, they should be fine. But after release, there is no excuse for them. If not, Mortal Online will gain a bad reputation, just like DarkFall did in this regard.
Eh, maybe they think the 72 hour ban will be like a scared straight sort of system. You know like giving that person a chance to consider thier actions and maybe play fair from that point on. Maybe the first ban is 72 hours and if the person becomes a repeat offender they get a perma ban...
Not saying its what they ARE going to do, cause who really knows...
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I remember when this was particularily popular in WoWs battlegrounds. It had something to do with sending loads of packets of data and through that causing lag on others whilst being yourself totally unharmed. This sounds like something more "advanced" as they depict a situation where an entire guild is using this.
I'd imagine that Star Vault would benefit greatly from implementing one of those anti-hack programs that are widely used within FPS genre. It wouldn't prevent all forms of hacks but it would atleast make the most obvious ones go away. It is a pity that everyone has to pay from the fact that a selected few don't want to play by the rules.

Hacking, exploiting and macroing ruined Darkfall for me. I agree that they need a STRONG cheat detection program in place. People reporting others and GMs researching on a case by case report basis does not work.
Sadly both of those threads have now been closed on the MO forums. The first was closed as a duplicate thread of the second. Then the second was closed shortly thereafter. I'm sure it will all be fixed for launch though

Both of these examples show that thtere are people that think other people are cheating. Both threads got shut down because they were edging closer and closer to accusing specific people of cheating, when the proper way of handling specific instances of seeing other people cheating is to submit a bug report rather than smearing them openly on the forums Even if these were 100% true, the only thing it proves is that there are people cheating in the game. This does nothing to show that StarVault is intentionally turning a blind eye towards cheating as implied by the OP.
The current punishment for hacking is a permanent ban. IF the banned party cooperates in identifying how the hacking occured AND the developers believe that the hacking was done with the intent of beta testing the game they will CONSIDER reinstating the account. If you plan on tring to hack or cheaas part of beta testing, the official way to do so is notify the developers in advance so they can observe the process and results.
It's open beta. It takes about a minute to make a new account, so theres not really a point in perma banning cheaters in beta.
It was still the case when beta accounts were at a premium and cost people money. (ie pre-ordering)
You haven't been charged money to play beta. You paid for the released game.
Whatever...Yet you couldnt get into the BETA unless you paid for the game. How ever you slice it , the closed beta accounts had value and is/was the acccount you'd use when the game went live. Thus, banning closed beta accounts would have had purpose.
It might be true that nothing is being done, but that is because it is open beta, and pretty much you can make a new account in a matter of a few seconds. Sort of hard to ban people that way. I'm sure that the GMs are taking note on the people cheating/exploiting/hacking, so if they do it in release it is a instant ban. As they would be able to do more than just ban them and watch them come back.
Sad I know, but there is nothing else you can do besides just report them to gamemaster@starvault.se
As well I should like to remind people not be accusing people of hacking/exploiting/cheating in here as well.
As a forum moderator, he does not know how it is actually being handled , but is pointing out that even a permanent ban on account doesn't prevent the hacker from just making another account.

A permanent ban is the policy for cheaters, not a 72 hour ban as implied by the OP. People making accusations of cheating occurring in a game with PVP is hardly newsworthy.
It's only going to get worse. The game is riddled with hacks/exploits and SV has nothing in place other than a laughable report system.
Even though we haven't yet seen a strong anti-cheating presence in the game, this does not mean that it doesn't exist. I'm not saying it does because there is nothing to make us think that they have something in the works waiting for release but we really have no idea. Currently, yeah, cheating seems to be somewhat rampant and they don't seem to care. If they don't fix it, the game definitely won't survive. Guess we'll see when they release.

So basically you are just hoping they do something about it? It's always the same....
Sadly, the MO community thinks that there is anti-cheat protection. There isn't.
And yes, I have hacked the game and I won't post how because it's against the TOS. Let's just say it takes about 5 minutes and no programming experience whatsoever. However, if you have some good programming experience... you can really wreak havok ingame. Darkfall is Fort Knox compared to MO.
EDIT: People actually believe that SV turned off anti-cheat protection during beta. *sigh* I really don't even know what to say to that kind of stuff.

Theres people still thinking this isnt the real client, its insane. These people were a target of ridicule, but now they deserve our pity.
What does any of this have to do with Starvault's stance on hacking (permanent ban)? If the three of you (especially you hanover) want to discuss how easy it is to cheat in MO and the lack of detections tools, this thread's title really ought to be renamed to reflect that. Otherwise, it's somewhat deceptive in giving an impression that Starvault has a policy of tolerating hackers (which they don't)
Oh only one of the post doesn't deal entirely hacking... WOW!!!
Manipulating hardware to change the game isnt hacking? I'd hope there stance would encompass exploting, cheating, duping.... (whuich the above does touch on)

I don't think most people would consider unplugging your router to be hacking. As for how Starvauly handles that, they have no way to determine why you went linkdead The only question there would be how long your character should stay in game when you go linkdead, to prevent its abuse. None of the articles discusses the actual policy towards hacking/ exploiting (permanent ban), which is the actual topic of this thread. (unless you want to change the title)

Now if they aren't permabanning cheaters after release, then thats a problem.
Oooops, there people go again treating a beta like a release.
Cheating is encouraged in beta. Not reporting exploits just makes you a bad beta tester.
Beta excuse is tired when it's 3 days before launch. There will be lots of hacks in this game, just wait and see.

P.S. one of those threads isn't even about hacking. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/40150-game-quick-fix-hotfix-temporary-solutions-emergencies.html The closest it comes is talking about people exploiting the flagging system and disconnecting from the internet to avoid getting killed.
